Name: Yali
Biology: The mammalian Yali looks feline, such as a lion or tiger. It has a semi-hard hide with fur and a spiked tail that extracts a paralytic; immunity to the paralytic can be developed either through continued exposure or administration of an antidote.
Subspecies: The Yali does hold a white-furred cousin found in the artic poles of Arch. The only difference between the normal Yali (sometimes referred to as the Red Yali) and the White Yali is that the latter has no tainted tail and has greater body fat and hide to adapt to the cold.
Sentience: Yali are non-sentient. However, it is very intelligent, and can be fostered further with a Force connection with the creature.
Strengths: Yali are natural predators, limbs enabling them to run fast. A paralytic extrects from its tail, though continued exposure or administered antidote can negate the effects; it is slow to take, generally taking fifteen minutes to affect an average-sized humanoid. They are omnivorous. Though they can be fierce, they are able to foster strong bonds with sentient creatures easily and are fiercely loyal; Force-sensitive Chiss have taken advantage of this trait in the past.
Weaknesses: Yali are pack hunters and rarely tolerate other Yali in its turf that are not in its pack. While many poisonous creatures are immune to their own poisons, most Yali are not born tolerant of their own paralytic poison that emits from its tail. Though it holds a tougher hide in the front around the head and frontal shoulder region, the back region of the Yali, especially the underbelly, are soft. Yali are omnivorous, but are known for developing random allergies, especially domesticated ones. Red Yali are less tolerant of the cold than White Yali.
Diet: Though Yali prefer a carnivorous diet, exposure to the agriculturally-dominant planet Arch with few prey have led to the digestive ability to consume plants.
Behavior/Temperament: Of pack hunter nature, Yali are generally fierce and suspicious to outsiders. However, continued exposure will lead to the creature to warm up to an individual, especially if a bond is established. Yali are known to be very loyal.
Communication: Yali communicate generally through growls and purring, but are able to establish some communicative capabilities with organisms a bond has been developed with, though in a more primitive sense.
