Location: Yavin 4, Desolate Sith Temple

Kalanda didn't understand why she had been put on this assignment. She had beaten her foe in combat, yes it wasn't with a lightsaber, but did it matter? But no, the instructor sent her to the punishment chamber, and had tasked her with helping archive some aged fossils. To make it worst for the young woman, she wasn't alone, some other poor lackey had been roped into this as well, and they'd be stuck her for a week until the shuttle would return. Wonderful. Casting the young man a glare, she went back to her recordings, waving the recording device over the faded stone wall before her, as the device picked up tidbits of the ancient Sith language.

She was a tad surprised that the device was capable of doing such a thing, but then again, she wasn't exactly tech savvy. This task however, was growing rather tiresome, and she soon began reading over the texts she had found, trying to make sense of the half functional translation she was gazing at. If nothing else, this would entertain her for the coming week, though she'd have to find somewhere to hide away from the stranger. Kalanda cast him one last distrustful look, before going back to her reading. Maybe when she was a Sith Lord, she'd find the instructor who sentenced her to this and kill him. Yea, that would be nice.

As a defecting Jedi Varis wasn't incredibly well versed in the Sith history and education, getting most of his knowledge from his year at the academy. As such the young Acolyte was sent on this 'exploration' task. He saw this as an opportunity, a chance to understand more about the order, a chance to possibly find flaws in their ways and a chance to gain more power through knowledge down the line.

However the person assigned to this task alongside him, his 'partner', didn't seem to look quite pleased with this task. It seemed as it was something tedious and underwhelming for the silent girl that kept an almost angry expression on her face all the time the two were together.

Varis himself was a silent type, he wouldn't actually mind being left alone and in silence but it did feel sort of odd to him that this person never uttered a single word to him on their way here. Was she like those at the academy ? Distasteful of him because of his Jedi backgrounds, did she even know about that ? Or was she perhaps just a conceited raging Sith monster, seeing everyone around her as either beneath her or a stepping stone to be trampled over ? Whatever the case was the two were stuck here for the next week and if anything the girl could have possibly known more about the location they were at.

Walking up to the stone tablet Varis removed his Acolyte mask and hung in on a hook on his belt, leaving the hood of his robes up. Though hooded his face was still clearly visible and he turned towards his chance companion

''You seem like you've been here before, is that why you look so bored to the point of frustration towards this task ?''

Kalanda had taken a seat on a small stool that she was fortunate enough to have from their survival supplies, reading the translated texts on her holopad, noting the half translated tale about some long dead Sith ruler. The one redeeming quality of her partner however, was shattered as he had to start trying and communicating. He even took off his acolyte mask, trying to appear more 'personable', this had to be her personal hell.

Knowing the man wouldn't stop talking, she set the holopad down, gazing at him with those eyes that just screamed 'I tolerate you'. He appeared older, she'd guess early twenties. Not like it mattered, they were equals in rank. "You must be an idiot." She started with, showing her magnificent social skills. "We're looking over knowledge that has already been rinsed and repeated. These temples had been combed over thousands of times by people far more skill than us. This is them taking a week of progress out of our training." She continued, her angry tone had cooled, however taking on a more informative approach. "Yavin is just a museum of Sith history." She sighed, crossing her arms. This might not have been so bad if she was alone. "So that is my point of frustration. An entire week of progress has been wasted." She stated, looking back to her fellow acolyte.

Though surprised by the girl's response Varis's eyes only widened for a second at her visible anger. In a certain way the girl was right, this little exploration trip does take out a week out of their training but even though he could understand where she was coming from his side of the story in this was a bit different. The girl had nothing to gain pillaging through the abandoned 'museum' as she called it but he indeed was interested in such places, especially since he never got the chance to hear about them in detail let alone visit one.

Though he didn't expect any friendly greeting from his companion, the polite individuals were sort of a rarity when it came to these young hungry Sith he had realized that a while ago, he was still a bit caught back at the sheer levels of frustration in her words.

''You sound like you're in a hurry. Surely a week of training would not bridge the gap between you and your rivals. Besides, there are other forms of... improvements.... one can do. If this place has already been roamed through and we have nothing to look for here you're looking at a week of time for deep meditation. Something you probably wouldn't have this much time for with your weekly combat training schedule.''

Instead of waiting for a reply from Kalanda and indulging more conversation Varis had already made his way towards the door and engaged the simple lock mechanism. With a couple of screeches and rumbles the stone door was unlocked and slowly opened.

''In any case we should proceed, right ?'' he said facing the entrance to the dark temple rather than looking back at his 'teammate'.

Kalanda scowled at the man as she moved towards the door, her mind lingering on his words. He did have a point, they were free to do whatever they wished at this time. What he didn't understand, was she liked to gauge herself against the others, to know she was their better. That was gone now...but she could display her strength over this one at the very least. She said little as the man moved out of her sight, fiddling with the door. It was a little surprising that he managed to open it, but it wasn't worth her notice. If anything, she was surprised he still had a degree of optimism attached, but that wouldn't last long; it never did, he had to be new to this.

She looked down to her device and scowled, as it was now showing the words on her holopad in some unfamiliar language. Great. Her holopad was broken now. Groaning, she rose, losing a key peice of equipment for an entire week now. She had little to do but follow the man into the temple; even though there was nothing to be gained from it. "If you're looking to waste more time, sure." She said bluntly, putting her holopad into her bag. "My holopad is busted. So we'll have to use yours for reading texts." Looking around the entrance of the dark structure, she grabbed a small glow rod off her belt and snapped it, revealing the desolate temple structure before them. Several small vermin or insects scurried away, prompted a grunt of disgust to come from the acolyte. She looked back to her partner, that charming scowl of hers still on display. "What has you so interested in this place?" She asked, her tone remaining neutral.

Then, she sensed movement at the end of her senses. It wasn't a creature, no, it was a force presence, both powerful and faint. Her hand went to her lightsaber, drawing it. "Did you sense that?" She asked, putting the rod onto her belt. Her eyes narrowed as she used her now free hand to potentially hold off anyone that came at her. After a rather tense moment, nothing changed, nothing came towards them. Odd. Still wary, she put her weapon back on her belt, looking to her partner. "Perhaps this won't be as boring as I assumed." She stated, grinning at the thought of a possible challenge.

As the pair entered the temple Varis was amused by the fact that he who had been looking forward to this task hadn't even thought of bringing a glow rod to this desolate dark tomb and yet the one that showed great disinterest still found time to prepare such a detail.

Why was he so interested in this place ? He was slightly surprised Kalanda was even bothered to ask him a question (of any sort) after her previous display as it was clear she was not fond of his company... or perhaps any company for that matter.

''Well unlike you who was, and pardon my assumption, a Sith from an early age I myself didn't get that kind of education. I was admitted into the order rather late, this kind of ancient history is something that had eluded me and I would like to use any chance I get to fill the gaps of my knowledge.'' he said casually as they made their way inside the temple's corridors.

But for a mere moment something broke the serenity of the setting. Something in The Force itself. It felt like a brief, short sting... no, a cut. And before Varis even voiced it the younger girl had already grabbed her weapon and prepared herself for whatever that was. Her reflexes and instinct seemed sharpened, like a wild animal, not caring about anything but preserving her well being as soon as a shred of a possible danger appeared and jumping straight to a battle stance. It was clear to Varis who was he partnered with, this little reaction and their previous exchange outside as well as the girl's overall demeanor spoke volumes about what kind of person she was. He couldn't help but feel a certain dose of respect, as unpleasant as her tone was at least he wasn't paired up with some half assed warrior whose ego dwarfs their abilities.

As quickly and suddenly as the sensation began it faded in the same manner, reducing the possibility of the inital danger to the two Sith.

The girl withdrew her weapon and he couldn't help but notice the joy on her face. Although he didn't outright voice it he still kind of agreed with Kalanda. This could be fun.

Taking his own holopad out Varis approached a wall with some encryptions in a foreign language and after a failed scan he changed a few settings and commenced another scan.
The holopad produced beeping noises for a couple of seconds before letting out a bright sounding click, as if the commanded task was finished. He clicked one last time and the device started displaying translated scans of the wall.

''Oh, your holopad is not broken by the way. You just need to change the dialect options on the translator. These old Sith languages have quite a few of them, your current setup is probably locked on to one specific and most common dialect just like mine, that's why it didn't work the first time. All you have to do in that case is change the scanning options to filter the data through all the available dialect options, takes a few seconds longer to filter through all of them though.''

Kalanda let the man move past her, though she kept one hand close to her saber. Now that the danger had passed, she had some things to prod her companion on, mostly curious what his level of skill was compared to her. "You assume too much." She stated with a tone of indifference, though she was curious where he had come from. He spoke with some level of elegance, probably from one of the core worlds if she had to guess. "Sith history isn't anything special. The strongest of them kill each other, rule for a few years, someone kills them, rinse and repeat. The names change, but the motives are always the same." Kalanda said, following the man, watching what he was doing. She wondered why he hadn't grabbed glowrods from the survival kit. Perhaps he had never opened one before. It that was the case, he might not be long for this world after all, which would make offing him all the easier for her. Though, he seemed to have a degree of aptitude with gadgets, so he wasn't entirely useless; though she preferred just breaking anything that got in her way.

As he pulled the device out, he attempted to explain to her what the problem was with her holopad. Unfortunately, she hadn't a clue what he was saying. So, rather than try and fix it herself, she withdrew it with her free hand and extended it to him. "I didn't understand anything you just said. Just fix it." She spoke, very nearly commanded him to, before grunting. "I don't understand 'tech speech'." She confessed, her brain having had a short malfunction from the barrage of technical jargon she was attacked with. She looked to the wall, tracing her fingers over it. "The words outside mentioned this used to be a site for Sith rituals. Something about freeing ones inner self." She said aloud, flaunting what little she had learned. "While it's doubtful, maybe there are some secrets inscribed on the walls within this temple. That would be our only hope of learning anything." She muttered, partly to herself, but loud enough for her companion to hear her. She glanced down to him, potentially taking back her holopad if he had decided to help her. "What does your device say? I found that it can't tell a full story, but it at least captures some bits and pieces. Enough to know what the subject is." Kalanda seemed to be taking a more 'bossy' approach over her fellow acolyte, though perhaps the young man didn't care about her attempt of a power trip; if that was what one called it.

Varis took the holopad as Kalanda handed it to him for ''fixing'' as she has phrased it, even chuckling to the girl's comment about the Sith.

''Yes, that's one way to put it... and to look at it.''

As he tampered with her holopad he continued saying

''I'm curious. You seem to be a fine Sith specimen yet this was your response to explaining their history and philosophies. Strange..''

Handing the ''fixed'' holopad back to Kalanda he continued as if the previous sentence never happened. ''Here. When your first scan fails just press here.'' He said pointing at an option on the holopad, trying to make it as simple as possible since the girl openly admitted not being very tech savy. Another panel showed up on the holopad ''Aand then here, that should commence the second scan with the appropriate filters.''

Varis turned back to his device, reading through it to give the snappy girl the response she wanted although he seemed pretty relaxed about it, showing no signs of engaging in any sort of ''power play'' with Kalanda.

''Besides the tid bits about the rituals you've mentioned the only thing I'm getting out of this is about something that translates closest to 'ceremonial chambers' and 'The core' in Basic.'' He scanned the remaining writings on a different wall deducing that they were essentially saying the same thing. ''Well our predecessors had some awfully redundant architects, this basically reads the same as the first ones just with a little rephrasing.''

Walking a few steps towards a door of the similar type as the one at the entrance Varis continued sharing his thoughts as he engaged this lock as well. ''Ceremonial chambers and rituals is pretty self explanatory and the 'The Core', I'm assuming, possibly refers to either the center of the temple, or a deep point under the temple. Which brings me to a question...''

As the loud stone door loudly and slowly opened something awaited on the other side, the noise of the door awakening it and Varis's realization of the presence interrupting him in the middle of his speech.

''Shyrack!''

The exclaimed as his back arched forward in a combat stance, his lightsaber being already drawn out and ignited simultaneously and almost in an instant as he entered his stance as a swarm of Shyrack came at the pair from the other side.

Kalanda scowled at the man's commentary on her, waiting as he fixed her device. "If it doesn't make sense to you, then you haven't been a Sith long enough." She stated rather boldly, before taking the holopad back. She watched as the man explained what to do, and the process she needed to follow to make it work. It was a little hard to understand, but she nodded, having understood the basics of it. "Thank you." She half grumbled, taking the device back as she looked it over. "Like I said, the Sith rinse and repeat. They think they can do better than their masters, but end up just making a mess of things. They're rather idiotic." She spoke, trying her own scan of the wall. She had rather strong opinions on the Sith, though it seemed she didn't quite admire what they had done with themselves.

She glanced down to her partner as he read off what he had learned, and she soon confirmed it herself via her own holopad. "Sith love to repeat themselves. You'll learn that soon enough. Staying awake during study hall is enough of a challenge." She spoke, putting the pad away as there was little else to learn. She had decided her underling was tolerable, and she could speak to him as only a partly lesser acolyte; which put him on a rather small list of esteemed people indeed.

She kept behind him as they moved towards the door, inspecting it before moving to tinker with the lock. He spoke of what it the translations might mean. "Maybe you shouldn't be fiddling with something you don-" Kalanda stopped as the door began to open, but movement on the other side of the slowly opening door stirred her to action. "You idiot." She muttered, reaching out with her free hand, and drawing her saber with the other, she grabbed hold of the door and began to shut it. It took a great deal of effort for her, as the stone screeched against the floor, but she managed it. She didn't shut it however, leaving a gap only large enough for a few of the vermin to funnel through, giving the pair a way to more easily cut them down. While moving the door took a great deal of effort, she managed to move up and jab her crimson blade through one of the beasts, before clipping the wing of another. Their odds seemed certainly better now, as Kalanda stepped back to garner her strength once more, but perhaps her companion could deal with the beasts himself. If not, she would draw back upon her telekinetic skills, and pelt what was left of the beasts with stone debris, knocking them out of the air and letting her combat oriented companion finish them off.

As he prepared to strike at the swarming Shyrack Varis was shocked by two things. First being his colleague's response, sure the wild beasts are not to be taken lightly but it was barely a thing that could pose a threat to them. Perhaps his attitude made his partner underestimate him...
The second thing that shocked him was the sheer strength of the girl's force grip, being able to almost completely and instantly shut the massive stone door, against it's mechanism that would keep it open after the unlocking.

In this split second of commotion Varis jumped back as she shut the door and ducked evading one of the oncoming Shyrack coming his direction. The beast was swiftly cut down by Kalanda alongside another one. As the girl's grip on the door lessened the remaining beasts had once again made their way towards the two.

Varis raised his lightsaber and charged the oncoming Shyrack. Digging himself firmly into the ground just a meter away before the first of the swarming vermin he started systematically cutting each of them down as they swarmed in a flurry of masterfully executed Djem So strikes. Not allowing any waste of movement he swung a sweeping strike following the first one, taking out two of the incoming beast and allowing the momentum of the swing to continue he transitioned into a 360 degree pivot slash, immediately slashing through three more.

Standing with his head slightly bowed down, lightsaber ignited and pointing to the ground he was now surrounded with bodies of either dead of maimed Shyrack and it seemed that the imminent threat was over.

It seemed.

The noise from the battle and the shrieks of the dying beasts had alerted the others in the area and suddenly more Shyrack came swarming at the pair. One flock coming from the direction of the same room the two had just unlocked and the other one coming from a side corridor closer to Kalanda's position.

Kalanda didn't expect less of her partner, but she was rather more concerned by being swarmed by the vermin. True they weren't challenging, but enough Womprats could down a rancor. Together, the pair seemed to have killed most of their attackers, as Kalanda took a moment to catch her breath. That relief was shattered however, as skittering and chirping began to ring out all around them.

Kalanda took several steps back. Towards her partner, she kept her weapon up, but could sense the masses of animals coming at them. She lifted her hand, bringing up a falling section of the roof, and sent it into the sounds of the skyrack, sensing some of their life force leave as the creatures were smashed by the large stone. "Get the ones behind us!" She shouted, as she dropped her lightsaber, taking hold of another part of the roof, and creating a small whirling barrier of stone, battering and beating the beasts back, slowing their advance as she pummeled them to death, coating the hall and her improvised weapons with their blood and guts.

Was there an end to the creatures, would they ever stop coming? She could only hope, as she was starting to feel herself waver.

Quick to recover and asses the situation Kalanda had already began her attack on the beasts coming in her direction. At the same time she was able to ward them off from a distance and brutally kill the flying pests without them ever coming close enough to pose a danger to the pair.

Standing back to back with Kalanda at a meter or so away while she pummeled the Shyrack Varis once again charged the ones facing him, coming from the previously unlocked room. Dashing towards them Varis extended his left hand as he ran and shot a stream of Force Lightning. The Shyrack were dumb beasts, simply charging in rage, often trampling over eachother as they attacked. This allowed the blast of lightning to flow through everyone in the swarming group with ease. Closing in the between him and the beasts he stopped his lightning and flowed straight into a 180 degree rotating slash, his left hand that had previously produced the lightning now transitioning smoothly into a grip on his hilt as he was descending upon the stunned group of animals. The first two handed slash bissected two and maimed one other Shyrack and the following three power strikes swiftly ended the lives of the rest of the unfortunate animals.

Not letting his guard down he took another glance across the room and the hallway the Shyrack came out of. It seemed for now there were none more to come. His lightsaber still ignited he turned back facing Kalanda to see what was the situation on her end.

Kalanda stopped her storm of stones, as she felt they were no longer in danger. Her weapons fell to the ground with a 'thud', as she was brought to her knees by exhaustion. Both hallways were now decorated with mutilated Skyrack corpses, but at least they could continue undisturbed. Panting, the acolyte remained in her position for several moments, gathering back her strength. She raised a hand to keep her fellow partner at bay, not wanting his aid. "I'm fine...let's continue." She gasped in between words, slowly rising to her feet and collecting her fallen lightsaber in the process.

At least he wasn't a helpless child, managing to kill most of the Skyrack by himself had proven that; though in theory any child could kill a few Skyrack. She gestured towards the passageway they had opened, waving him ahead. Kalanda could only hope that they wouldn't have to face more monsters, but that hope seemed to die off as she felt that strange presence in the force once again. She wasn't at her peak yet, only rasing a hand in warning, before looking to the acolyte with her. The faint glow of the rod left them in a sea of darkness, the area around them littered with recent and long since dead Skyracks. "There is something off about this site, but I know not what it is." She cautioned, gesturing for him to take lead as they would continue into the newly unlocked chamber. A pit was starting to form in Kalanda's stomach, as she felt a chill begin to wrap itself around her spine. This place was unnatural, and the murals on the walls seemed to confirm it. Stone carved pictures of Massassi and Kissai warriors tearing their eyes our, maiming one another, or ripping off parts of themselves lined the walls here. Kalanda paused only for a moment to translate what she was seeing, and frowned at what it read. "Those who show weakness shall be destroyed from within..." She muttered, looking to the man with her. "I suppose that's the only warning we can get from this place." She stated rather coldly, unsure as to what that phrase even meant.

''I know what you mean. The darkness inside... I've felt it too, even more so now.'' Varis commented as he felt the darkness seeping from the temple around them, it felt like it was crawling on the walls of the hallways and the rooms around the temple. All of it slithering towards the same direction seemingly, the heart of it. Varis's eyes narrowed as he experienced these sensations.

''It is strong.'' the young man thought to himself. Thoughts of his grand mission glossing over his mind, whatever the case was the initial steps of the plan required him to become more powerful... within the dark.... and right now he felt the slithering dark pulses within the temple as if they were calling for him, for those wishing more power. His chest raised but mouth remained closed as he took a deep breath with his face still looking focused and more serious than before.

''We should proceed with caution, even if we can feel these beast if they're ahead of us we shouldn't take that advantage likely.''

He made his way across the newly unlocked room, heading towards the corridor where the Shyrack came out of. Taking this moment of peace he addressed his companion in quite a friendly if not even a jokingly manner ''So, has this turned out to be more fun than you had initially expected ?''

''What i was saying before the Shyrack had interrupted us.. The core logically would refer to the center or a heart of something. Seeing that the architecture of this temple is of quite a proportional, round shape the ''core'' would essentially be the strict center of the structure, possible the mid levels of the temple.''
Varis explained before continuing to the meat of his theory ''But considering that this is the Sith we're dealing with, and quite old ones mind you, I can only assume that this ''core'' the writings were referring to is most likely located in the center, yes , but on the underground levels of this building. That, and the fact that this corridor seems to be descending us downward, I can only assume that there's an underground level here somewhere.''

There was something sinister about this place. It wasn't just the dark side, no it was something else, something more twisted about this place. There was a cold that constricted around you, choking you. Kalanda felt it almost stabbing into her, coiling around her like a serpent. She wasn't scared of it, far from it. She was curious, she wanted to find this source...maybe it could be made to serve her; whatever this power was.

Her partner suggested caution, before asking her if she was having fun. She was, she couldn't deny it. Moving away from the graphic wall carvings and wanting to press further ahead. "This has served to be more entertaining. I won't deny that." Her tone indicated she was rather amused rather than put off by the place. Kalanda looked to her companion, her eyebrow raised. "The Old Sith typically went in reverse. At the same time, this sounds like some sort of right of passage. So perhaps you're right." She said, sensing up ahead. There was an almost cold fog she could feel, clouding her senses, not blocking it. "Still, you make a good point. They were hiding something down here. Whatever it is, it must be worth something."

''Agreed.''

Varis calmly stated as the two made their way deeper into the temple. For now there was no sign of opposition or any wild life as they opened another large stone door and descended even deeper into the temple, reaching what seemed to be a series of underground caves, with only little of the stone architecture of the temple decorating it here and there.

k2.jpg

''Honestly I'm not surprised that there is a damn cave underneath this thing. If this is a tomb of some sort at least we can guess we're heading the right way.'' Varis took a second to asses the surroundings, every word echoed through the hollow cave walls, such a place was sure to have more unfriendly wild life roaming around if the Shyrack at the ground floors were any indicators.

''This is probably where the beasts that inhabit this temple nest, god knows why they even tried to go to the upper floors, the cold and moisture of the caves like these is their perfect living and breeding grounds.'' He found himself thinking out loud forgetting, for a moment, the disdain his colleague had for chit chat and company all together. Interestingly enough he had still decided to pose a question to the young brash Sith girl accompanying him. ''Also... I just realized we've never exchanged names.'' Said the man slightly turning his head towards Kalanda. Though he wasn't being pushy or way to obvious about it, Varis indeed wanted to get to know more about his assigned partner, especially after her interesting comment about the Sith and their ways.

Kalanda nodded at her companions comments, though she did find it odd there was a cave here. Why would they leave a random cave within this structure? Unless the original inhabitants didn't want it altered. The feeling of this place only strengthened Kalanda's convictions that there was power to be gained here, but only if they were strong enough to survive it. "I wonder who was laid to rest here....or what..." She muttered, tracing her hand across the worn stone.

"If that's the case, we'll have to be careful not to be swarmed. This place is strong in the dark side, so that should give us an advantage." Kalanda was getting rather tired of all this pondering and meandering around the outside, her thoughts were dancing at what laid within. She moved to go in, letting her companion linger outside, but his statement about not knowing her name caused her to stop. She turned towards the acolyte, grinning a tad. He had proven himself enough, so she didn't see the issue of giving her name. "Kalanda. You can call me Kalanda." She says, turning back to the entrance of the cave. "Yes...it will be mine." She muttered, slowly approaching into the gave, almost embracing the darkness and cold that billowed forth from it. If her partner wished to stop her, he would have had to physically hold her back, as she was taken by whatever was within this tomb. It was calling to her, and she wasn't going to leave it waiting.

The girl was actually polite enough to give him her name without a snarky comment, perhaps their little combat moment they shared together garnered him some ounce of respect in Kalanda's eyes. Of course she didn't even bother to ask for his name funnily enough. As the girl advanced forward Varis followed, being determined as much as she was to find out what lied inside, what was this feeling that felt like it was calling the two.

The further they got through the cave the 'call' got stronger, with every footstep. Arriving at a spacious part of the cave there was a large corridor in front of them and one slightly to the right. Looking through the one on the right one could clearly see it branching out with several paths but all of them leading more to the right, meaning it led farther from the center the two deemed to be their destination.

''Wait. Do you sense that ?'' Varis stopped and asked Kalanda, assuming that she had her senses on check seeing how she could sense the Shyrack dying earlier as she pummeled them without ever being able to get a visual on their deaths.

''There are more of them down here... a LOT more.'' the young man exclaimed, rising his right hand towards the corridor as if he was trying to touch them, feel them through the force.

''I don't doubt that we can take them, but I've gotta argue that it would be much smarter to avoid any combat right now. Even if we disregard their current numbers we still have no idea how many more would come out of these echoing corridors, you've seen the noise attract them.''

Kalanda hadn't asked for the man's name, partly because she expected him to give it. He hadn't so...she just assumed he didn't actually care about it. Kalanda had actually not been sensing for other life, as she was drunk on the call of this cave, it wasn't until her companion called attention to it that she snapped out of her daze. "Hm?" She blinked, before looking for herself. To her surprise, her companion was correct. There were many more of the beasts down here, far more than she or he could handle. Feeling a tad foolish, she muttered her following reply. "Oh, yes you're right." She felt a tad bit of shame, but ignored it for the time being. She sighed, looking to the man with her. "Potentially, you are correct. Frankly, with those numbers, I don't think I can manage them. I'm not exactly at my peak currently." She had to admit, the two fights from earlier took alot of her. "So, what is your plan?" She muttered, wanting to get past this problem and just find the power within.

Yes, she wanted it badly. "Because I'm not going back up to the surface without learning what is down here. We only have a week." Her tone was a little more aggressive now, as her gaze seemed to indicate to Varis that he was wasting her time.

Varis couldn't help to notice the girl's interest in this entire task skyrocket after they've both felt the call of this dark place. To him it was tempting, alluring, but to her... it seemed as if she entranced by it, shifting all focus on it with a burning passion. Well if anything he had always admired passion, even within the Jedi order, when he tried to keep such opinions for himself he had always found those who were passionless as lacking substance. Funny considering Varis's almost bland and emotionless facial expression, always coming off as unfazed and detached. In truth he himself had great passion for the things close to him, it just wasn't as obvious to the naked eye of most of the observers.

''Oh believe me... I don't intend on going anywhere until we uncover this.
...whatever it is''

Closing his eyes Varis raised his right hand once again. He didn't reach to feel through the Force as casually as he had done so previously when sensing the wildlife around them but instead this was a focused effort, concentrating only on the area where the group of Shyrack was nested. Feeling these unsophisticated creatures and their primal minds Varis's hand contorted slightly as he started affecting them. He hasn't used this power in a while but now, as he applied this trick, he had felt as he could do much more, as if his attunement with the Dark Side had made this simple old Jedi trick more assertive by replacing subtlety with direct dominance. At first he had only ''touched'' three of the beasts but realizing this he spread out, reaching for the entire flock.

-Create a cage around it's perception-

-Slow suggestion-

-Simple minded creatures are ruled by instinct and needs-

-Do not push the command in, rather ease it in with the simple flow of it's thoughts as they come and go in waves...-

These words, the training mantra that he'd originally learned when first practicing the skill echoed through his head as he tried to empty his mind.

Varis opened his eyes and calmly spoke up.
''There. They are moving to the completely different part of the tunnel. The path is clear, that's at least one needless battle we don't have to engage in.''
