PERSONALITY​

M0M’s personality just may be the most remarkable thing about this droid, and that’s not saying much. The rushed programming and years of operation have twisted her into a doting but strict parental figure. She is more interested in what everyone else is doing than her own business. She will treat any group that she is involved in as if she was an old disciplinary-style instructor at a private boarding school. Her flawed language database has affected her ability to speak basic, giving her an accent that is bizarre by her galaxy’s standards. (Cartoonish Germanic stereotype.) She tries very hard to keep a semblance of order amongst the crew but it frequently falls apart, as she is contending with some strong personalities. When she is not taken seriously or is totally ignored she will not hesitate to play the “guilt-trip” card.

ATTRIBUTES​

Although it’s true that M0M has over 2 million languages in her database, it should be noted that due to faulty and rushed programming her translations are usually accurate only 37.0269158% of the time. She is all intellect and no wit, and therefore has virtually no sense of humor. Strength is nil, unless one counts her ability to fly into your head and maybe cause a slight concussion or a minor black eye. Her charisma only goes as far as someone’s capacity to respect a busybody who only has your best interests at heart. It should be noted that she can be quite stubborn,so her willpower is very high. Above all else, she has wisdom. However, what good is that when no one wants to hear some good motherly advice?

HISTORY​

M0M was developed as a typical “D.A.N.” by Cybot Galactica and purchased by the cheap uncle of a budding salesperson for a software company, who received it as a gift. His sales attempts on Nal Hutta, however, proved to be disastrous due to the droid’s misinterpretation from basic to Huttese. The droid was supposed to tell them “Can I put you down for purchasing our premium package?” it was translated into “Will you give me money to go down on my premium package?” Needless to say… he was unsuccessful. So he had an associate add a child-rearing program into the droid’s system, to assist in the upbringing of his twin children. This program added a glitch into its language programs, resulting in the droid’s now distinctive accent. She was given a new name: M0M.

As time went on, the twins grew up but M0M continued to dote on them as if they were still children. Eventually they tired of this, but as she was a parental figure to them they didn’t have the heart to have her memory wiped. So they sold her (cheaply) to a nomadic space-faring woman who needed a nanny for her daughter. Their time in space proved to only annoy the woman and her crew, and soon they had had enough. The woman tricked M0M into entering an escape pod, where she was then jettisoned into space.

The pod floated for three-and-a-half months before being discovered by a crew of rebels from the Galactic Alliance. Although they also found her annoying, they decided to bring her to the temple at Jedha which was nearby. There, she helped to manage the children that were brought to the temple for several years, before being selected to accompany a Jedi and his young padawan on a diplomatic venture to Alderaan. While there, the Jedi and his padawan were destroyed by the “mind-breakers”, leaving M0M stranded. She now searches for her new role in this galaxy, and people to dote on… as that is her programmed purpose.
