DESCRIPTION​

The 7T-series electromech is a semi-specialized maintenance automaton produced by Pan-Galactic Power Products, a huge corporation which manufactures everything from kitchen implements to starships. Designed for the upkeep and repair of large computer systems and other electronic infrastructure, the 7T and other electromechs are used in any number of industries.

Though closely related to an astromech droid, electromechs such as the 7T do possess a number of key differences from their cousins. The 7T specifically is composed of a cylindrical chassis made of stainless, high-impact inoxium, and lacks the outboard "legs" of most astromechs, instead having a single wheel tucked underneath its main body for a more minimalist look. Though a less stable arrangement, the 7T is equipped with a robust gyro-stabilizer system for balance, as well as 4 retractable stability braces which can be deployed to steady the droid in place; these can be magnetized to anchor the 7T to metallic surfaces even more securely than some astromechs.

The 7T possesses an arsenal of tools which would be familiar to any astromech, though again, with some differences. The 7T lacks the heavy hydrospanner, circular saw and fusioncutter employed by most astromechs, substituting an array of more delicate implements, including a solder-blaster, circuit tester, micropoint and tuning stylus for the maintenance and repair of electronic systems. In addition to the normal sensors, the 7T also possesses a laser scanner for reading the identity bands attached to many items. This allows the droid to quickly take stock inventories, an extremely useful feature for many businesses.

7T droids have a number of surprising capabilities, chief among them a limited piloting capability, with factory programming enabling the safe use of air and land vehicles. This allows the 7T to transport itself over long distances to access remote network nodes. Using aftermarket software expansions, they can even be taught to fly spacecraft of various types, and can fit into a standard droid socket, providing an approximation of astromech functionality. They can also accept most aftermarket astromech parts.

Overall, 7Ts are useful, versatile droids, and can be found across the Galaxy.
