Her blade was nearly at the end of the cut when the vehicle started moving quickly, probably some half thought-out attempt to shake her off or bring her closer to their men so they could shoot her. The issue being, the Jedi was heading the way of their other men.

Her mind returned to the task at hand as she clung harder to the truck... and then something inside her changed. She felt... an instinct. Something she'd only felt echoes of in the past, but now she understood.

She... understood.

When the metal she'd carved out began to fall, she reached out with the Force. Her hunger guided her. Allowed her to feel the life around her. The men just beyond the threshold of her new door began to scream and twist in ways men shouldn't. She felt their lives drain from them, into her. Their life force... satiated her, but for only a split second. She knew she needed more.

MORE

The small Sith put away her lightsaber, and instead of finding the men in the rest of the truck she brought both her hands up in front of her and closed her eyes. Focusing on their lives... and calling them to her. Devouring them with a ravenous appetite that came from the very pit of her soul. They'd had no experience with a Force user. No chance to defend themselves against something they had zero understanding of. And Demolly feasted on their weakness. She didn't stop till every last one on the vehicle was drained.

The experience... changed her, but her focus broke as the Jedi yelled at her. He wasn't very far away since he'd just jumped off a truck that had been moving at top speed.

The vehicle she was on was still moving, but she jumped to the top of it to look at him. She still didn't speak. Her focus was on his life force. It...it would provide her more of a feast than all those men combined. Without truly thinking it through she reached out towards him, attempting to drain him. It was more of an experiment than anything else. She knew as the distance between them grew—if he didn't stop the truck—she wouldn't be able to keep it up.

The Sith woman was getting to be more of a handful and Max was growing more and more certain that she was going to be a further danger to others. Which meant it was time to save the rest of the raiders as best as he could to keep her from being able to end their lives. That she was drawing more and more on the Dark Side was worrying but not altogether unusual considering what it was that Dark Siders did.

They took in more and more poison because it gave them the sensation that they were stronger than they were because their hatred was masking their pain and weakness. It was the truth of the Dark Side that everything came at a price and it wasn’t just ‘oh a few more wrinkles and bags under my eyes’ type deal either. She was just starting down the path but he knew that she would keep walking it and she would wither, needing to draw on more of the Dark Side to maintain herself and, thus, throwing herself further into it and at it’s non-existent mercy.

She was discovering more of it’s depths though so she was even more unlikely to surface but even now she was travelling onward. Max felt the wrongness twist the air between them and narrowed his eyes, drawing on the Light of the Force to shield him, thrusting his hand out ahead of him. As she tried to drain him of his life, she would find a barrier of the Light between them.

Beings in the Force would be able to see her drain as tendrils of writhing darkness reaching out toward him, their progress being barred by a barrier of almost burning Light. His defense to her drain was to project the Light ahead of him as a barrier so it was drained instead – and the Light would burn at the Dark technique, ruining the transfer of energy. She would either have nothing or she would feel the Light burn at her…

… for the short time before the vehicle continued onward and she became too distant for either of them to directly attack the other in the Force. He would only relent in his barrier then, a frown marring his face as he stood in the sand for a moment longer.

If she was not coming back he would begin the long march back to his ship to treat his left arm.

The Light Side projected by the Jedi nullified her Life Drain. She could feel it, and the very close, very real threat of it burning her. Before she could think too much about it however, they were far apart and no longer able to fight. She wondered why the Jedi didn't pursue her, but then realized he'd protected the raiders. He now stood between them and her.

She still craved a fight but, for now, there was more useful things she could do with her time. Fighting the master taught her things about herself, and ultimately lead to discovering this new skill. It made her feel powerful... but that hunger at the back of her mind still hadn't gone away.

The Force told her she'd meet the Jedi again, and even if it didn't, she'd force it herself. They were connected now, and she was acutely aware of her habit of fixating on things and people. It was, in reality, an uncontrollable impulse.

When she made it back to the town, she'd find her way to her ship and set course back to her cult. It was time to expand. Every minute that ticked by was one that could be used to further her ambitions.
