Vin followed the little terror of a Jedi into the training room, pulling out her blade as she moved. As if she wasn't terrified enough already, he wanted her to put up a demonstration of her lightsaber skills? Could this day get any worse.

Well, apparently it could. Distracted by the scary fox, she didn't notice how she was holding her blade and ignited it backwards, the blue blade shooting out not away from her but straight at her.

The blade went out with a span as it slipped from her fingers and clattered to the floor, as she followed it down in a painful heap. KR3CH was upon her within seconds, turning her around and patting at her stomach for a wound. He found nothing, only increased the pain she was feeling.

Looking around at the concerned and surprised faces around her, she took in a deep breath to steady her shaken nerves. Don't worry, training blade. She summoned the blade to her hand, and noticing KR3CH's disappointment, ignited the blade straight into his chest. It would do as little harm to him as it had to her, but it did shock him enough to send him crashing to the floor. That's what he got for being disappointed that she hadn't accidentally eviscerated herself.

After taking stock of the scene down the side hallway, Fin weighed her options. On the one hand, she could stay where she was, and hope that maybe the crowd moved on or dispersed. But every moment she waited was another moment someone else investigating the now clamouring racket could round a corner and spot her. Huddled up conspicuously against the side of the wall with dirt covering her trousers, and her hair a mess in the middle of the night, she didn’t exactly have a strong alabi. Now with knight Fennex’s angry shouts filling the halls, those moments seemed an awful lot shorter.

Plus, even if the crowd did move, what if they ended up moving was towards her?

She grimaced at a thunk of a metal against flesh and the resulting yelp, followed by more angry shouts by Knight Fennex.

Yep, if there was one person in the galaxy she did NOT want to meet right now it was that tiny fluffy eared knight.

Her other option was to beat it to the otherside of the branched hallway, and hope no one saw her in the commotion. Once she was past the raucous crowd it was just two more quick jaunts down a few old passages no one ever used, a single stairwell, and BAM she was back at her dorms. Easy as that. The problem was, to get there she would need to cross the hall, in full view of everyone…

She chanced another glance around the corner.

Kinght Fennex was still busy scolding another Jedi. The other Jedi was tall and well built, though she couldn’t tell who it was exactly, due to the dim light and only being able to see the back of their head. Whoever they were, she didn’t envy them.

Everyone else in the crowd seemed to still have their attention focused squarely on Fennex.

Fin bit her bottom lip. She didn’t really have a choice. It was now or never.

She took another breath, then started walking as fast as she could to the other side of the hall. She didn’t want to run, that would draw attention, just walk and keep her face up, try and look like she knew where she was going in case someone happened to glance back. If her heart had been beating faster before, now it felt like war drums booming in her ears. Every second she was sure she would hear the shrill kadence of Knight Fennex’s voice calling out after her, or a question shot at her from one of the other gathered Jedi. Both would be just as damning.

The length of the side hall was approximately ten feet, it felt like ten hundred.

When she reached the safety of the other wall she let out a breath she hadn’t known she was keeping. Her heart still hammered, but suddenly a sharp rush coursed through her and a small ridiculous smile spread across her face. It was like the time she nearly fell off her father’s speeded bike, four year ago. it was the rush of just being alive.

She continued to glance back at the branch, as she hurried on towards her dorm, but the fear was gone. She was home free. She could put this entire misadventure of a day behind her with no one th-

As she glanced behind her one last time, she rammed face first into a man as she rounded the corner.

“Oh” The man exclaimed with a friendly chuckle.

Though Fin was knocked back slightly, she quickly got her bearings.

The rush ended and her heart fell like a weight out of a land speeder, leaving only a pit in her stomach.

The man was older with short dropped black hair and sharp features. She didn't recognize him, though that was nothing new, with the conclave being called just a few days earlier. No, what she was more concerned with was that by his posture, and the cut of his robes, one thing was clear: he was a Jedi, a knight at the very least.

Her face must have fallen as well, for the first words out of the man's mouth were: “are you alright?” as his features grew concerned.

The words knocked her out of her frozen panic, and Fin tried to force her face back into a smile she no longer felt. She doubted it was very convincing. “W-what me? No, I’m fine. Really.”

Her mind racing, she decided to continue, digging her hole ever deeper.

“I was just- um… Patrolling! You know, ever vigilant and all that.” She offered a nervous laugh.

She mentally face palmed. She was so so so so so dead.

"I see."

Shimwo brushed the dirt from his clothes as he got a better look at the young knight. He did not need knowledge of the Force to see that the kiffar was hiding something. The hesitation in her voice and smell of the outdoors was plenty for him.

"Jedha is a big place and there is no shortage of places to watch for," he added.

Scolding Jedi is not his place. He is a guardian of the Whills, not a guardian of the Jedi Order. If this knight is to be punished, it will be as the Force wills.

Shimwo leaned close to the kiffar to whisper in her ear.

"Take responsibility and go," he whispered, stepping aside with an extended hand.

Vera studied the little fox man intently, his ability to assert himself as a leader was fascinatingly effective however she did not agree with his aggressive demeanour. Perhaps he is trying to compensate for his diminuitive size by asserting dominance through physicality. He IS still adorable though. She was halfway through the door to the training room when she heard a thud behind her. She peered over her shoulder to see one of the group members toppled over obviously in some attempt to escape. Without turning around she called out to him,

"Nice try but we're all in this mess together ."

She continued on inside, her slippers now muffled by the mats laid on the floor as she headed towards the rack of training sabers. She grabbed two of the metal devicds, they were old and most probably defective in some way. It was right about now that she wished she was still asleep on that rigid bed.

Ekaj stood in the arch of the door way to the meditation he had been in watching events unfold in front of him. The older though smaller knight was scolding the other Jedi like they where younglings. The sight of it was to much for Ekaj and though he tried his best not to he could not help but laugh at the scene.

"Take responsibility and go," The man whispered, stepping out of her way and extending a hand towards the empty corridor.

Fin was caught flat footed. She had braced herself for a harsh reprimand, maybe a tug on the ear and a command to follow. That’s what knight Fennex would have done; probably right after beating her idiocy into her skull with a few smart whacks. What she had not prepared herself for was the man letting her go.

“Oh no no no no. It's not like that. Really. It wasn't my fault, I just…” she started arguing instinctively, but seeing the man’s look she quickly shut her mouth.

“Right. I will just get going then.” she bit her lip and started forward. In her hurry she nearly was past the older man before she remembered herself.

“And thank you sir. Thank you so so much. I promise you won't regret it.” She added, before half running, half walking as quickly as she could down the rest of corridor.

“Kriff that hurts!” Justinian yelped quickly as the small fox like Jedi smashes his knee with the lightsaber hilt. Rubbing his kneecap gingerly a wincing Justinian would tilt his head at the master “That’s an awful lot of aggression for such a little Jedi. I thought you senior knights were supposed to be zen.”

Flashing his most convincing smile Justinian would quickly speak over himself in an attempt to avoid the Fox’s response to his comments “besides we are all here doing emergency raid training, we’re trying to be ready for any night attacks that may occur. War and all you’ll never know what those hate filled exiles will try.” He’d motion to the sorry lot around them “that is why we’re all looking so haggard. Frankly fellow Knight were this an actual night time raid your lashing out would negatively impact us all, please control your aggression in the future, this is unbecoming of you.”

Grumbling to himself as Knight Fennex imperiously gestured the group of young Knights into the training room, and knowing that whether he had been noted by his peers or not he was included in their number by the furred grump, Knight Baelstra'dar Cordana flipped the thin cloth of his sleep robes' hood back from over his prominent cranial horns and tiredly strode in behind the younger Knights into the training room. Trying - and failing- to suppress the smirk from sensing the clumsy nature of the two Knights behind him, Baelstra'dar brushed his prosthetic right hand against the hilt hanging from his utility belt and looked over the group of restless dreamers. Two, in particular, caught his eye; the loud-mouth klutz accompanied by a droid that seemed to wish her harm, and a young woman clutching the hilt of her ligh... was that a lum-lamp?

Bael worried at his lower lip indecisively; his mentor had taught him that to give up an advantage before a fight was nothing short of a good way to get yourself and your allies killed, and long brutal years of experience had shown that too be true... but this was different. She was not an enemy. This was a training. And, despite his recent misgivings, he was still a Jedi.

Whistling sharply to get her attention, the Devaronian knight underhand tossed his curved saber hilt toward the pale-skinned spitfire and called out, "I found your saber in the hall, spirit-hunter. You should keep a closer eye on your things." While the words may have been taken as mocking, the voice that spoke them was melodic and clear of any malicious tone. When Alais turned toward him to catch the offered weapon, she would see burning yellow eyes set above chiseled features and sharp white fangs flashing behind full lips mouthing "...Play along, Alais." hidden from the Amaran knight's gaze.

Klyyd started to walk to the doorway when something dawned on him. Old Master Wyck. "That's it!" he yelled as he twisted around, almost falling as he ran but ultimately regaining his balance. Of course, if anyone could help him figure out what was happening to him, it was Wyck. The only Knight worthy of being called Master, with his age and wisdom. He ran through the halls, racing through to the library. He slid to a stop outside the locked door, frustrated. He then ran all the way back to the place where everyone had congregated, racing past the now crowded hallway as more Jedi were waking up from the commotion. He slid around the corner, smacking face first into the stomach of a person. "Banthafodd---." Klyyd stopped as he realized that the man he had ran into was an older Knight, and probably wouldn't take to kindly to him swearing. He looked up to whom he assumed was an enraged older Knight. "Sorry, sir."

The expression on the young knight's face suggested that she expected punishment. Perhaps she did not recognize him at all and mistook him for a Jedi? Shimwo pondered this for a moment before recalling the recent conclave in the temple. He nodded slightly at the thought. It would not have been unreasonable to presume as much. Shimwo did not sit in on that meeting, having chosen to watch over the Jedi pupils who were not yet ready to be considered knights instead. It would not be unlike him to wish to attend the meeting, if only to listen, but the past cannot be changed.

It also happened that his thoughtful nod also acted as a reply to the kiffar's pledge, to which Shimwo honestly had no idea in what manner the Jedi could repay a debt to him. It could be a hollow promise, but the Force has many surprises at its disposal. One of them is another Jedi bumping into the monk.

Shimwo could not be any more angry or upset as the kiffar's encounter. Rather, Shimwo was more curious than furious that there could be so much activity tonight. Normally, a night at the temple was held in relative quiet with the exception of a handful of devotees studying, practicing, or meditating. One could almost think that it is the middle of the day with a planetary eclipse darkening the lunar sky.

"What is going on at this hour?" Shimwo asked the latest Jedi he managed to literally run into, voicing his own thoughts in tandem.

Alais winced as Fennex called her out for her lie. She guiltily looked over at the other Jedi, beyond ashamed for dragging everyone down. With nothing but a flashlight as her weapon, she was stuck in her lie. As she followed the others into the training room, Alais grimaced. Everyone else had sabers and were prepared to actually look ready. She had no saber and no shoes, and she had just been stepped on and turned upside down.

Just as she was preparing to fight sabers with her bare hands, a whistle got her attention. Alais looked over, her eyes widening at the sight of someone that literally looked like the devil. Her jaw dropped as she looked at….the demon looked rather feminine, and she reacted slow when 'she' threw the saber. The hilt collided square with her forehead, almost falling to the ground before she yanked it out of the air, “Th-Thanks, miss…” She quietly muttered only so the Devaronian could hear.

With that, she turned towards the others, saber ready to go. Alais shuffled closer to the Devaronian that had tossed the saber, offering a grin that showed her appreciation. She had no real plan in mind and ignited the saber, swinging it around a few times to show that she knew some of the common striking and defensive positions. No one needed to know that she wasn’t exactly the best at dueling, but perhaps waving it around a few times would be convincing.

Fen scoffed at the young knight Justinian's pathetic attempt to excuse himself as they all shuffled into the training room. He could appreciate some slyness- he probably even would have let Alais gotten away with her fib if it hadn't been for her companions- but this was just base and half-assed. These younglings just had no respect anymore. No sense of decency. No wonder the order was in shambles.

"You wouldn't know aggression if it bit you in the ankles, boy," Fennex clapped back, "and if this were a night raid you'd be short a couple of legs and I'd be beating back a horde of exiles with your bloody stumps."

Fen plopped to his rear at one end of the training room, tail twitching in irritation as he watched the young ones file in after him. If he had to be up at this hour at the very least he could watch a few of them stun each other for a laugh. It only seemed right. And if Bae Cordana thought he could get away with making up for Alais' carelessness in forgetting her lightsaber by slipping her his own without Fen noticing, he was sorely mistaken. Fen would let it slide for now, but the devil horned dolt would hear about it later, no doubt. Jeesh, someone pulls you out of the fire one damnable time and they think they can get once past you forever...

"Well, come on. Somebody better start hitting somebody else with a lightsaber."

Justinian would roll his eyes as he sets off the fox once more, Justinian wondered how the hair ball ever managed to make it this far if he was so easily provoked. Justinian would mumble something under his breath once the fox had finished lecturing him “Did someone forget to take this poor creature out for its walk?”

As Justinian laughed at his own obstinace, and disobedience a thought crept into his mind. For only a fleeting moment the thought that Fennex was another living being with hopes, aspirations, and disappointments of his own, dawned upon Justinian’s tired mind. Despite leaving as quickly as it came the idea was enough to make Justinian feel like a grade A Laser Brain.

“I made myself sad” He’d comment idly, rubbing his eyes and stepping up towards the dueling platform “I suppose we should continue practicing everybody, we had a bit of an interruption but that’s no reason to get back to it right? I’ll take the next round of sparring despite this tenacious pain in my knee, who’d care to join me and show our dear senior knight what we’ve been working on”
