A New Timeline is Incoming!
The Eighth Timeline is approaching! Set five centuries after The First Sith, the new Eighth Timeline will continue the site canon first established during the Sixth and act as a direct sequel to this one. The evil Sith Empire has taken over the galaxy. The Jedi Order is diminished and thought to be extinct. But the fires of hope have not gone out of the galaxy entirely. The Mandalorian clans, bitter at the suppression of their religion and culture, have begun the hunt for a new Manda'lor in hopes of throwing off the shackles of Sith rule. Meanwhile, in the lawless corners of the galaxy, a fragmented but steadily growing Rebellion—with the aid of the last surviving Jedi Knights—rises to free the galaxy of the Sith Empire's dominion and restore democratic rule...
Main Factions
The Sith EmpireThe Sith Empire began with The First Sith Empress, Andraste, seizing the Galaxy with a mixture of power, skill, diplomacy, good PR and the support of loyal and dedicated followers. Over 500 years later, Andraste's legacy remains and her bloodline still holds power within the Empire, ruling over almost the entire known Galaxy. Prosperity and growth have swelled the ranks of the Sith and the Imperial military branches.
The Empire never lacked strength but centuries without a clear, unifying, threat have taken their toll on the Empire's unity. Throughout the years, a divide has formed within the Empire. Those who followed Imperial might to the new capital of Coruscant and those who remained within the Darkness of Korriban and Sith Space; those who saw the Empire as the greatest peak of the Sith and those who believed the Dark Side was of greater importance than merely holding power.
Only the Imperial Throne kept these factions united and held the Empire together, united, in the vision of Andraste.
The Mandalorians
For five centuries, the Mandalorians have served as the enforcement arm of the Imperial military. It was the Mandalorians who played the largest role in exterminating the last of the Jedi during the First Jedi Purge, and the Mandalorians who acted as shock troopers in the Imperial Army during its conquest of the galaxy. But with the death of the Sith Lord Leviticus, who united their clans for only the third time in their history during the reign of Andraste, the clans were left without a leader.
To make matters worse, the Empire, having grown complacent in the centuries since its victory over most of its enemies, has begun to suppress Mandalorian culture and religion. Angered by this heresy and by the increasing stagnation of the Imperial military, the Mandalorian clans have begun the hunt for a new leader — a fourth Manda'lor to lead them out of the stagnation of the Empire and onto the glorious crusades that had once carried their people to greatness...
The Rebels & Jedi
The Rebellion began as small scattered cells that fought alone in a void filled with Imperial might. A desperate fight, but a one worth fighting as the Sith Empire has fallen from the strict but benevolent rule of Empress Andraste 500 years ago to the harsh tyrants of the current Sith Empire.
As ever widening cracks appear within the Empire, disparate rebel cells come together in an alliance against the Empire. While united in purpose, the downfall of the Sith Empire, this alliance is nonetheless riddled with idealogical differences. While the cracks within the Empire are growing, this alliance is nonetheless desperate. However there is hope.
Thought to be extinct, and nearly so, the Jedi Order has survived centuries of Sith Purge. If a handful of elusive monks could be considered an Order. While their hubris was responsible for the rise of the Sith Empire, they have since grown into legends within whispered the myths of their exploits.
Faction Leaders
We've decided to start the timeline with PC Faction Leaders. The application for the positions is below. In addition, factions leaders will be allowed into the Think Tank and are expected to help out. If you don't have the time, do not apply. The open roles are: Two (2) Sith Faction Leaders and one (1) Rebels & Jedi Faction Leader. The Mandalorians will not start with a faction leader but the spot will be open for grabs through role-play.
Now that you have a sense of what these roles are, you are invited to apply for one of them! To do so, answer the following questions:
- Which faction are you applying for?
- What makes you suited for the role of Faction Leader? Be specific.
- How good are you at discussing and resolving matters, especially those involving conflicts of interest?
- Where would you like to see your faction go in the story? What goals do you personally envision for your faction? How is this different and interesting to what other FLs may offer?
- Being Faction Leader means you'll have to monitor and approve Faction Plots for your Faction, will you be able to preform that duty in a timely manner?
- How much time can you dedicate to the position? Can you ensure that you will be able to consistently organize activity for your faction? Are you willing and able to dedicate the time to drive the story?
- Do you understand and accept that, by becoming FL, you will be leading the faction that was developed by the think tank, and the staff will be tightly regulating any changes made to how the faction is set up and organized?
FAQ
Why are we changing timelines?
Star Wars: The First Sith was one of our biggest timelines in SWRP history insofar as amount of posts/role-play that happened. The goal of this timeline was to establish the first Sith Empire, and it is clear that this has been accomplished and beyond. As we are approaching some of the final battles of the timeline, the story has begun to arrive organically towards a conclusion and we think it's time to give this timeline a wonderful send off! Stay tuned for end of timeline events and activities.
What specific year is the new timeline set in?
We don't have a specific year for the timeline, but it take place long after the current timeline. Events in this timeline will shape it.
Can I keep my character?
No, unfortunately not. The new timeline will take places hundreds of years from our current timeline, so there is no way for your character to be part of it. If you want you can make a similar character in the new timeline, but it can't be the same exact character. We also recommend trying something new.
What will happen to all the custom content that has been submitted?
We will post an announcement with more details later, however since the next timeline will be set in continuity with this one, it will be possible to adapt your favorite species or planets for the new setting. With that in mind, the species, planet, faction and technology boards are now closed to new submissions until the new timeline to allow moderators and administrators to focus on the development of SWRP's 8th timeline.
So that means my entire story in this timeline is meaningless?
Not at all. In fact, exactly the opposite. Events, characters, battles will shape the current events and history of the upcoming timeline.
Do I get to keep my rank or advance in rank?
Ranks are the discretion of whoever the new faction leaders are. We are changing how ranks work on the site as well, so there will be more information about that coming soon.
You said new faction leaders? Are any of the current FLs staying in their roles?
No. We plan to have a whole new group of faction leaders for the next timeline.
When is the timeline change happening?
We don't have a specific date for it yet, but we are aiming for the middle of December. When we have a hard date, you will be the first to know.
How will the timeline change be developed?
As with all past timeline changes, we have a Think Tank which is currently made up of the administration team. Once Faction Leaders are chosen they will gain access to the Think Tank to collaborate with the admins.
When will we know more?
When we have updates for you, we will let you know.
I have a question that hasn't been answered above.
Feel free to post your questions in this thread and we'll try to answer as best we can. Please note, however, that we are still working on a lot of details of the next timeline, and much of it will be developed by the think tank, so we may not be able to answer everything right now.
