Hanna City, Chandrila
2000 Hours Local Time
The night was alive as speeders and hovercraft made their way between the tall buildings of the Capital City. Inside the penthouse suite of the Aeon Tower, a small group of Jedi were mingling with what was going to be a rather lively party. The party was some sort of meet and greet for an ally of the Jedi to make social connections and even make a lucrative deal or two. For the Jedi present it was babysitting, plain, simple, and boring. Their ally had requested a small contingent of Jedi to be present to help provide security. Afterall, being able to detect things through the Force and use it to help diffuse situations was something Jedi excelled at. It was an excellent chance to relax and enjoy the practical free time as the mission itself was a blue milk run. Nobody expected anything to happen here, so it was a good chance to mingle with the other Jedi there.

Cassus's blue eyes scanned the filled and noisy penthouse. Clusters of high society men and women, human and alien alike filled the surprisingly large and exquisitely furnished common area. A wet bar had been set up to service the guests at the host's expense which is where the Jedi Knight sat now scanning the myriad of faces. A pair of Rodians we're discussing something with an Ithorian and a Zabrak in one corner; in another a Duro seemed to be making a deal with a Human senator; and in the center a Twi'lek was entertaining a handful of guests. It was an interesting sight to be sure, one Cassus was positive was very likely an incredibly common sight on the capital world of the Republic.

Dressed in his finest clothes, Cassus was doing his best to blend in. The host of the party, and the ally who had asked the Jedi Knights send a small group to provide security and asked that the Jedi do not stand out. That they would be dressed to blend in. This meant nice clothes and no visible lightsabers; they would have to hide them or just not bring the weapons. For his part, Cassus had one lightsaber tucked inside the wet bar and his shoto hidden up his sleeve. Knocking on the mahogany wood of the countertop, Cassus looked for his fellow Jedi and companions on this babysitting mission. He quickly found his former apprentice, Kalii Wren, then there was Alaasha, an attractive orange-skinned Togruta, and lastly the grey-furred Wookiee Kwaktoch. It was an eclectic group. Finishing the last finger of whatever neon green alien liquor he had in his hands, Cassus stood up to make a patrol round. Heading over to where Alaasha stood, he'd make his patrol look like simple socializing while giving himself a chance to talk to his partners and perhaps learn more about them. Afterall, it was going to be a long, boring night, so why not pass it with some casual conversation? Walking up to the Togruta he smiled, "How's it going? Everything looking good?"

Chandrila, the capital of the Republic. Some would say that fact was the only thing that made the beautiful planet noteworthy, but Alaasha didn't think so. There was obviously at least some other reason, as a huge party was currently being held in Hanna City, one in which four Jedi had been tasked with undercover security.

Alaasha was over by a wall of windows, something that could quickly become a safety hazard if there was an attack. Alaasha wasn't worried that there would be one, she doubted that the could-be attacker could best four Jedi. However, she had taken caution to bring her lightsabers, each one in one of her boots, hidden from sight. And although she had worn fancier clothes then normal, they were still obviously Togrutan and didn't hinder movement.

Alaasha waited as Cassus Lammerai, one of the other three Jedi watching the party, walked up to her. She assumed it was a simple check-in, most likely casual. As he spoke, Alaasha grinned slightly.

"Two drunks got into a fight before passing out in a corner. It's a bummer, I was looking forward to seeing some more action."

Watching the orange-skinned alien as he stepped up next to her, Cassus chuckled as he examined the woman's attire. It was fancy, but it was distinctly Togrutan; it reminded him of something Vera would wear when she was a Padawan with him. Settling into a comfortable stance, the Knight crossed his arms while he stood next to Alaasha, his eyes moving from her to the crowd. With a grin on his face, he opened his mouth to reply back to the woman, "Ah, yeah, I'm sure that would have been pretty fun to watch. Should probably be careful, though. An assassin could use a brawl like that to get to their target and kill them while we're all distracted... still, sometimes there's no harm in a good show."

Cassus turned his head and gave Alaasha a playful wink before looking back to the crowd. Running a hand through his brown hair, Cassus exhaled a little. So far everything was going well, no major issues, and people seemed to be enjoying themselved. Cassus figured he might as well do the same and get to know Alaasha a little bit better. "So, Alaasha, what about you? How long have you been a Jedi? What are you good at? I remember seeing you around the temples, it's a shame we never had a mission together before now."

The room that currently imprisoned a certain Wookiee was absorbed through dull, uninterested eyes. Almost as if the entity that the eyes were connected to was on the very verge of sleep, while standing up. His eyes, only briefly brushed over the other Jedi, while they were still with him. Only able to identify them because of his prior knowledge of their presence. Because, like him, they were wearing common clothes, and hid their lightsabers.

However, when he looked over them once more, and saw that the Togrutan and blonde Human were conversing his eyes widened. Suddenly lively, and without the weighing down of sleepiness. His legs moved, in approach towards them. And he was there, when the conversation on brawls was still in it's peak.

Whatever the Human said afterwards, was lost to the Wookiee, as his own, artificial voice came out. Speaking basic, by convenience of the translator around the back of his neck. "Surely any potential Assassins would drop everything to watch a fight, or, I'd think that any one of them would enjoy some change in this.. party."

"Hmmm, I didn't consider a distraction. This fight did look pretty authentic though, I don't think it was involved in a plot."

The Togrutan said this in response to Cassus's first comment. She inferred that he had some experience in the field of bodyguarding, after all, some things could only be learned by experience. Cassus then gave her a wink, although Alaasha didn't know quite what it was for. She grinned anyways.

Alaasha listened to the man's words, although the last bits got cut off by the Wookiee Jedi that had accompanied them. She was slightly bothered by it, but not as much as normal. After all, he wasn't intentionally being rude, or at least Alaasha thought. However, simply ignoring Cassus's words was unacceptable. The Togrutan made a quick eye gesture, meaning something along the lines of 'after this'. Hopefully the man would get her message.

"That's one way to look at it Gwaktoch!"

While the base statement might of sounded rude, Alaasha made sure to say it in a way that was cheerful and lighthearted. Perhaps it would change the Wookiee's look on the party, which she was pretty sure wasn't the best.

"Probably not," Cassus agreed with Alaasha, then with an added, light chuckle to show that he didn't mean what he was saying to be taken too seriously, "Never hurts to be cautious at times, though."

Before he could finish his follow-up remark to the Togruta, their Wookiee companion joined them, a
nd made a comment about the brawl, apparently having overheard Cassus's comment about the fight being a ploy to create a distraction. With an amused chuckle, he nodded back at Gwaktoch. "Indeed it is, Alaasha. I'm sure some potential Sith assassins would love to watch a good fight. Many Sith are brutish characters. Some of the professionals I've met though are cold mysteries. They'd sell their own mothers out if their deaths would help them complete a contract... In any case, I digress, I presume there's nothing out of the ordinary for you either, Gwaktoch? Well, perhaps this mission will be a boring blue milk run after all... unless you two want something to happen..."

Cassus shot the two Jedi in his company a teasing, knowing glance that stated that he wouldn't mind a little action to happen.

The Wookiee's expression remained blank during both of their little speeches, though, his gaze burned into the Human as he spoke, eyelids falling lower and lower, until his eyes were narrowed, half closed. And he brought his arms over his chest. With a low rumbling sound growing from his throat, before the machine around his neck began to make sound.

"If something were to happen, exciting as it would be, it would just make this.. All the harder for us. However, if this mission remains unexciting then we wouldn't have to worry about any assassins and, like the party goers, can just sit back and relax."

He paused for a moment, before, a smile came onto his face, and his eyelids lowered all the more.

"But, with all that said, I, personally, am confident that we could handle any.. Situation to arise here. So, I will cross my fingers and hope something does happen."

Gwaktoch certainly seemed bored at the party. The Togrutan didn't know him that well, but she assumed by his comments so far that he was an action seeker. Hopefully nothing happened, although if something did it was quite obvious that the Wookiee would be prepared.

"Just remember, if anything does happen use sabers as a last resort. We're supposed to be undercover after all."

Alaasha wasn't entirely confident with her martial arts skills, but she supposed if the worse came, one of the three probably had skill. Or at least she hoped.

Cassus chortled at the big Wookiee, ignoring the hairy beast's dozing and how passe it was to do at such a high profile social gathering. While the Jedi Knight couldn't dispute that an unexciting night was an easy one, he would dispute sitting back and relaxing. Even a Jedi couldn't know when an assassin would strike. Well, he would have disputed it if he thought it would make a difference, which he seriously doubted to begin with. "Oh, I certainly hope we'd be able to handle it, otherwise the three of us will make the Order look bad. Just remember that."

Letting out another laugh, Cassus glanced at Alaasha and gave her a nod in return. That was the plan they had established after all, and he would prefer not to blow their cover; it could make things considerably more complicated for them and their friend whom they were supposed to be guarding. "Just remember there are alternatives to fighting. I find the Force is a nice option when you want to remain inconspicuous. A mind trick or a subtle use of telekinesis can diffuse a lot of potential situations. So, Alaasha, why don't tell us a little about yourself while we wait. It might look awkward if we just stand by ourselves all night."

Sabers as a last resort.. Gwaktoch's eyes burned into the female as she said those words, and he couldn't help the disappointment that rose up inside of him, at the thought of not being able to use his saber. In a non-training setting even. But, he pushed that disappointment down, with another low grumbling sound. The sound was fortunately, drowned out by the Humans talking, and he turned his head towards him, "It will be hard to notice an inconspicuous Assassin anyway, Jedi or not, paying attention or not". The words were low however, mostly kept to himself, as his eyes drifted along the crowd, before resting once more, on the Togruta.
