First off, are elecrostaffs a viable technology in this era? If so, is it possible to apply that tech to other melee weapons without a write up? (Aside from lightsabers or vibro weapons.)

Viable technology? I mean, you can have lightsaber resistant melee weapons, so probably. I'm fairly sure it would be considered generic if it was just "A Lightsaber Resistant Electrostaff" so it wouldn't need a writeup.

It was less about the lightsaber resistance and more about whether or not the conduits for projecting the electromagnetic fields would be able to work with, let's say, a sword.

Probably. A vibrosword was ruled generic, as was our Vibrostaff. So the same should apply.

Yes, electrostaffs are generic. As far as applying that tech to other weapons, it's something we'll have to handle on a case by case basis. So you'll have to do a write-up.
