Telly Udon was rather enjoying the new spoils of war. The [URL' https://www.thestarwarsrp.com/index.php?threads/raxus-prime-raided-by-resistance.105558/'/] raid on Raxus Prime, by all metrics, had been a roaring success for the Resistance. They'd dealt a critical blow to the shipyards, had embarassed the Empire and had stolen a cache of valuable Imperial technology in the process. Telly's personal favorite piece of loot was the new squad of battle droids his cell had. [https://thestarwarsrp.com/index.php?threads/rdr-008-series-battle-droid.98697/']They were currently being repainted as their Imperial colors just didn't go along with their new programming.

Hiding out in the remote village in the heart of the lush rainforests of Phindar, Telly Udon and his fellow Resistance members had taken shelter in an abandoned barn on the outskirts of town as they busied themselves repairing, refueling and repainting their newly stolen Imperial shuttle before they departed for even more missions. It was Telly's hope that splitting up the ships of his Resistance cells would eliminate the risk of being found by Imperials looking for retribution.

However, even rebels needed breakfast and Telly volunteered to go into the nearby village to pick up some food. Well, actually they'd drawn straws and Telly had lost but, still. As Telly walked through the village, he couldn't help but be captivated by the exotic beauty of Phindar. Brightly colored flora and fauna surrounded him, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. He marveled at how this seemingly tranquil paradise could be a hotbed for scoundrels, thieves and bounty hunters but such was the nature of these towns nestled deep in the heart of the Phindarian jungles. As he made his way through town, he kept one hand firmly on the blaster pistol strapped to his hip. True enough, this place was very remote but the Empire had a long reach and his face wasn't exactly unknown at this point. He pulled up his neckscarf to cover more of his face and continued on his errand.

And, of course, Imperials weren't the only ones who wanted the Pau'an Alliance veteran dead. The Resistance had slowly been growing from an anti Sith organization into an anti Force wielder's organization and Telly was certainly one of the more moderate members of the Resistance, seeing the Jedi as occasionally helpful nuisances and not enemies. It was entirely possible that an enterprising bounty hunter may have been hired by Telly's own people to take him out in a bid to control his cell and integrate it more fully into the more radical ideas of the Resistance.

Rainforest. Verdant. Making up the terrain of most of the planet of Phindar. In that same vein, the residents of this distant village were mostly Phindian. That helped narrow things down, as did the settlement being akin to a small town.

The Mandalorian had no intention of concealing her person as she walked the village, her armor on; red gold beskar'gam including the helmet over her head.

Eyes behind her visor, boots on the road, the gentle swaying of the cloak at her back as a woodland breeze drifted in from the trees.

The woman had a mission, and weapons of which to apprehend her target: rifle and sword on her back, identical pistols on either hip, and a third with a stun setting. Grenades, knives, a vambrace with quite a bite, and two fists. She was ready for it, to say the least.

Passing by one person after the other, a number turned to her, others too busy dealing with street vendors at the market stalls. Her target might otherwise stand out amid the crowd, however Pau’ans were generally about as tall as Phindians.

A face like yours, though, and I’ll wager you’ll be covering it up. The bounty hunter, Anvil, considered as she maneuvered between the stalls in the center of the street.

Telly Udon could be here, could be near, inside or outside one building or the other, but that same woman, that Mandalorian, Casany Praxor, would find him. He could hide but he could not run forever.

While there were certainly no shortage of bounty hunters in this village (or those who would turn bounty hunter at the first mention of credits), there was a shortage of hunters with crisp, red-gold beskar armor on. As such, Casany stood out in a crowd. Telly had no idea who the female Mandalorian was here for but her kind tended not to big sightseers. He stopped near a fruit stall and raised a melon up to his nose, pretending to sniff it for quality. In reality, he had his commlink in the same hand and activated it when it was close to his mouth.

"Good morning, lads. Might need be in a spot of trouble. A couple of you may need to check on me if I'm not back in 20." Telly whispered into his comm before paying for the melon and walking briskly back towards the edge of town.

That was always a problem in a settlement like this. Granted, Anvil had a description of her target, expected him to stand out amid a crowd of mostly Phindians, but who really had the advantage?

The Mandalorian, armed and armored as one, walked throughout, and the possibility that her bounty would spot her before she spotted him was a high price on the market. Didn’t really matter. She would grab and bag him one way or the other.

Everything seemed normal so far, nothing out of the ordinary. Meat stall, fruit stall, jewelry stall, clothing stall. Nice. A blaster caught the Mandalorian’s eye as a seller haggled it over with a buyer. That a Verpine shatter gun?

Whatever it was, it was not her target, so the Mandalorian marched onward. People walked and talked, stood at stalls, sat by buildings watching the streets. A few children ran, chasing one another with laughter.

Huh. It didn’t take a visor, just an experienced hunter, to pick out a person’s pace amidst a crowd. One had a brisk one. Exercising? Maybe. Yet he was as tall as a Phindian with a scarf around his face.

Anvil’s target? She would be an idiot not to pursue it. So she did. Kept her distance toward the edge of town. Waited for this person to turn a corner down a less busy street and called at his back for a reaction.

“Telly Udon.”

Damn.

Telly had learned long ago when somebody called his name, whether that was his wife or one of his troops, it normally meant that he was in trouble or he was about to be. He considered just ignoring the call and continuing forward, acting as though he didn't know this "Telly" character. But, wisdom dictated that he was probably the only Pau'ans on the planet and he'd rather not risk being blasted between the shoulder blades by a thug who was angry about being ignored. So, he turned around with a winning smile on his face and his hands on his hips.

"Cheerio my good man! Looking for an autograph? Or maybe to enlist?" Telly asked cheekily, keeping an eye on the new stranger. The Mando. Of course. This was the last time he was going out for an errand unaccompanied.

If her target had a neck scarf, that was one thing. If he had a hood to cover up his bald, lined head, then that was another thing entirely.

Yet, nothing else mattered except for the fact that the person the Mandalorian addressed had turned around. Now it begins.

The scarf still played its part. Casany wasn’t skilled enough to recognize this guy merely by his eyes, especially from this distance.

She had to keep a measure of it in this street, less crowded than the market’s, albeit the population was scarce enough for a simple village.

They weren’t alone, though. A couple of pedestrians, some onlookers outside buildings, but the Mandalorian would have no qualms drawing a blaster from her hip or back if the occasion called for either.

‘Good man’, the man had spoken. Autograph. Ha. “I am a Man,” Cas replied. Her helmeted voice wasn’t disguised and would come off well enough as a female’s. “But I am no man.” And she was convinced.

“Telly Udon,”
she repeated, less in a question. “You are wanted and I am here to bring you in.” Right hand at her right hip, above her MWC-45 blaster pistol with its stun setting, amid her red cloak drifting into the breeze.

“Surrender your weapons and yourself peacefully and you won’t be hurt,” Casany promised. “Get loud and I put you down right now.”

Convincing tone: 4/20

Well that tone wasn't particularly convincing. With that in mind, Telly didn't trust Casany's promise that he wouldn't be harmed if he surrendered his weapons. That narrowed things down a bit as to who was behind the bounty.

The Empire and Sith? No doubt they'd want the Pau'an radical taken alive for interrogation or, barring that, at least a public execution. Plus why would they contract out to hunters when their own scouts and special operatives were up to the task? But there was one person in the galaxy that wanted Telly dead enough to go to an outside hire.

"Always tough to believe a bounty hunter when they say you won't be hurt. Unless you're taking me to a benevolent chocolate merchant, you're just going to hand me over to someone who's gonna kill me, eh? Doesn't really give me a lot of motivation to not fight it." Telly pointed out.

"No lies to me now, old chap. Was it Lohikk who hired you for this little job?" Telly asked innocuously. The old Quarren was a Resistance member with a fierce hatred of Jedi and an equal hatred for Telly's less radical views and choice of targets.

Ferrik. Sometimes the line ‘You won’t be hurt’ worked and sometimes it didn’t. It was always a bit of a gamble. Telly did have a point: There were others within this bounty hunter’s line of work who actually took pleasure in hurting their targets. Yet, not all said hunters were sadists.

Anvil might have failed to convince her target of her benevolent intentions but that mattered little and less. A contract was a contract was a contract. And credits were credits. Casany had managed to convince herself that she needed them, and she did, as much as she didn’t.

Chocolate merchants were one thing. A good guess is another. Anvil sighed behind her helmet. Her armor was no disguise. She had no lies to hide. Maybe being truthful might give Telly a reason to bend the knee and come in quietly.

“Resistance. Quarren. Lohikk.” The Mandalorian offered a simple nod. “Didn’t get much of an explanation but then I don’t really give a kriff about the politics of the situation.”

Finger taps the handle of the .45 at her right hip. “Granted, he’d be my target if the price was right. I do get the sentiment. I understand Resistance. Except as a True Mandalorian.”

Maybe Telly had heard of them, maybe he hadn’t. They were a thing of the past, in a sense. The resistance against the Sith, short-lived, when the Mandalorians split between those who followed the Sith and those who didn’t after Darth Raze parked his karkin' ass on their planet.

Politics. And politics was shit. Hunting targets, well, that business was a simpler reminder for Casany Praxor, and here's your bounty hunter. But ever a true Mandalorian.

"What do the likes of you know about truth?"

So it was Lohikk.

Telly was met with a mixture of feelings; satisfaction that he'd figured it out and that his instincts were as sharp as ever and frustration that the petty Quarren would waste valuable resources and time on in-fighting instead of on taking down Sith and Imps.

"My good man, if Lohikk was the one who hired you, he's not using his own money. Those are Resistance funds he's paying you with. I also happen to be in the Resistance with access to those funds. You take me to Lohikk and let me deal with the old codger personally, and I can throw in an extra fifteen percent." Telly offered the bounty hunter

Tracking down the infamous Telly Udon hadn't been too difficult for the Imperial Security Bureau. The Pau'an had been recognized and identified in the massacre of the Imperial Knight's Castle and now even stole Imperial battle droids. You didn't move a ship with a squad of battle droids with Imperial programming through former Imperial space without dropping some crumbs to follow. Dismas figured that even the Resistance would aid him in taking him down if he asked -or managed to get in contact with the shotcallers there- seeing as the Empire is almost as anti-Force user as the Resistance is nowadays. The only difference being that the Empire actually booked results.

Regardless, as the recognizeable Pau'an had his standoff with an equally recognizeable Mandalorian, Dismas decided he'd simply continue eating from his plate of local dumplings at roughly twenty feet from them.

"Sounds like a good deal, Mandalorian. That's an extra fifteen percent," Dismas meddled in their conversation despite having planned not to initially, "If that's Telly Udon then fifteen percent extra is like a gazillion imperial credits."

Dismas was wearing a typical outer rim outfit. He was -after all- the heir to the Zaa Fenn Crime Family and not a trained officer of the Imperial War Machine. He sold info and had the rank of lieutenant on paper. In reality Dismas Zaa Fenn looked and acted nothing like an Imperial agent.

Before Cas had responded, another voice interjected. She caught the man enjoying his feast, quickly pegging him, keeping her hand at the pistol on her hip.

“As I said,” Cas began. “If the price is right.” Was this Telly Udon so recognizable from a distance with his mask? Maybe, especially without many Pau’ans around town, and he had already admitted it anyhow.

“Fifteen percent. A gazillion Imperial credits.” She shrugged. “You must have a monopoly on Resistance funds, huh? Or else I’m an idiot.” The HoloNet was public enough: Imperial shuttle, Imperial weapons, Imperial officer’s cap. “Raxus Prime, explosions, supplies, oh my.”

Maybe this other stranger was just another hunter. First come first serve? More like a bit of competition if it comes to it. “Here’s my counter offer.”

Casany measured her environment, her audience, and focused on her target. “Same as before. Come with me quietly and I won’t turn you into a dumpling in this street. Then we’ll see what happens next.”

Just where were those men of his? Telly felt as though he'd summoned them hours ago, although he realized that was just the stress of the current situation talking. A Mandalorian hunter was bad enough but a second bounty seeker? This was going to be tricky.

"I've stolen my fair share of Imperial credits, I'll admit." Telly said with a cheeky smile.

"But those extra credits can only go to you if I'm alive. And I can only go with one of you. So, if I can have some kind of assurance that you're not going to frag me as soon as I'm aboard and you let me tell my men who put the bounty on me, I'll come with you, Mando."

Telly was more than willing to go with them. In fact, he was very much interested in paying Lohikk a visit and confronting the old Quarren. His men were more than capable of springing him from Lohikk's but they'd have to know he was there to do that.

Dismas was beginning to think that ISB-file on Telly Udon wasn't so far off, after all. Quick to jump to conclusions, impulsive and only in it for his own hide. Not an idealist, but someone that loved chaos and murder. He'd have made a good Sith. He may even have flourished in the old Empire.

"I think you misunderstood, Telly." Dismas said after swalling one half of a dumpling and trying to keep the other half in between his chopsticks without any of the rather suspicious grinded meats falling out. "I'm not a hunter. I'm just looking forward to the HoloNet headlines of "Guild Captures Terrorist" and "Terrorist is sentenced to life in an Imperial prison"- he paused to quickly transfer the other half of the dumpling from the chopsticks to his mouth as it seemed to be in a sudden danger to fall on the ground.

When he finally -only took a few seconds- managed to swallow the dumpling and refocus on the Pau'an, his right hand seemed to be free as the plate had been placed on the table. "Because you are nothing but a terrorist who had evaded capture for too long. Now even the group you claim to belong to wants to take you down and you try to bribe a hunter to betray the Guild?" it seemed almost like a sneer. As if only the lowest lowlifes would try to bribe a Mandalorian hunter to go agains the strict ruleset of Bounty Hunter's Guild. "You're worse than the Sith, you are."

So, the other guy wasn’t another hunter? Fair enough. But it didn’t really matter one way or the other. Whoever he was, as long as he didn’t get in Casany’s way, he could eat as many dumplings as he pleased.

Obviously, this guy could be anybody, could be nobody, but he clearly had some reservations about Telly’s character and might just turn his aggression from words into actions.

“Sith. Imperial. Guild.” Cas addressed both men. “I’m just a lone Mandalorian here to bring my target in and get paid for it. More or less depending on what comes next.” Wasn’t one person’s terrorist another’s freedom fighter? She had been on both sides but had no time for this.

“Telly Udon,” singling his attention again. “Unless you want things to get ugly then you’re in no position to barter with me. The only assurance I can offer you is not pulling my pistol from my hip unless you give me a reason to between here and my ship.” Same goes for Director Dumpling, something she hopes he knows, not that Casany sensed any hostility. Not yet.

“So what’s it gonna be? Easy?” Head tilt to the right. “Or ugly?” To the other side.

"Sorry sweetheart, have we met? Did I blow up the trash pile you were living under on Raxus Prime? If so, my apologies." Telly said condescendingly to Dismas. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the man but he certainly had pro-Imperial sympathies and that was enough of a reason to mock him as any, the Pau'an felt.

"Terrorist, huh? Try saying that nonsense on Kashyyyk or Eiattu or Firrerre. That's the problem with having such a long lifespan, son - you remember all the bad stuff, long after everyone else forgets it. I've been fighting Empires since Palpatine and I don't intend on stopping now."

"But there's no need to get our Mandalorian friend here involved in a political debate, eh? I'll come quietly."
Telly acquiesced. He raised his hands and began moving towards the Mandalorian female gently when he was interrupted by a crashing noise from the thicket around them.

Two Mustafaran members of Telly's resistance cells came crashing out of the rainforest, rifles brandished. Evidently Telly's call from earlier had been heeded.

"Easy boys! I'm just going for a ride with my new Mandalorian buddy here. Seems old Lohikk wants to talk to me rather badly."

"Lohikk?"

"That's right, you boys remember where old Lohikk posts up, huh? Why don't you run back to camp and tell the others? Oh and better take our Human friend along with you. He's been getting a bit testy." Telly said placatingly while pointing to Dismas. The two rebels looked apprehensive but would depart peacefully with Dismas in tow, provided Dismas or Casany went along quietly with the plan. They still had their weapons drawn and looked to see what the two humans decided.

A pretty nasty looking security droid walked up to the apparent local and stopped just a feet shy of Dismas. It's red eyes were reminiscent of a time where it was ruled by soft with the sole purpose to destroy organic life. A wicked experiment by the Droid Gotra.

<Statement: Supreme Mogul just declared war on the Empire>

It was loud enough for everyone to hear. The Mandalorian and the Pau'an terrorist both. More importantly it seemed to surprise the human enough for him to disregard his dumplings altogether. A shiver of doubt, panic or perhaps simply a face he made when the wheels in his head were all beginning to turn towards profit.

"Tatooine?" Dismas asked the droid, which nodded; <Statement: You have three missed calls from your mother. A message about the rodian barely being able to lift his gun.>

Kriff. If Preef Callo wasn't able to supply the cartel with his legendary talent for murder then the more violentless criminals among the Zaa Fenn would suddenly be forced to fight in an impossible invasion or die trying to defend their assets in the aftermath. If Dismas knew one thing it was that there was no way that the cartel with their dated Outer Rim tech could defeat an Imperial war machine fueled by the massive industrial corporate machine of Czerka.

He had no choice. Screw the Empire. Family came first.

Finally Dismas nodded and tossed a few credit chips on the table for the dumplings. "Intergalactic war, again-" he sighed towards the little standoff in the middle of the street, which suddenly didn't seem important at all anymore. "-survival over blaze of glory." the human said as he motioned for the droid to follow and left the scene through one of the alley ways.

Finally, Telly proved his smarts and up went his arms. “Good choice.” Ready to leave this street in time for that crashing noise from the forest that surrounded the Mandalorian and her party.

Dank ferrik. Telly telling his blaster-brandishing buddies where he was being taken only put his captor on edge. For all she knew he was planning to have his rebs ambush her ship while it flies.

Before she replied, someone else spoke, and the droid’s words made the hunter turn her phone to the news. It was true. Supreme Mogul. Sovereign of All that he Surveys. Lord of Flowery Phrases.

Dumpling had the right idea at least. This change of galactic events would certainly shape what happened next for the Mandalorian and this resistance. Which means I still need the kriffing credits.

“Good luck with your mother,” Cas called at Dumpling’s back. Now only four stood in the street as she addressed Telly.

“I’m sure you know Lohikk is posted up with blasters of his own, so I’m not opposed to your two boyfriends running back to camp as long as nobody follows my ship too closely.”

Spoken with emphasis. Can’t see the don’t-fuck-with-me eyes behind her visor but her helmeted tone was just so.

“You and Lohikk can shoot each other to pieces for all I give a shit. As long as I get paid first. By one hand or the other.” Cas would wait for the two rebels to walk off. “Once they’re behind the trees, we leave.”

The ride to Shimmer was predictably uncomfortable for Telly, although he tried to use his trademarked wit and gentlemanly demeanor to break up the time. He'd obviously surrendered his weaponry to Casany and, in a show of trust, had even given up the knife concealed in his boot to make sure they were on the level.

Lohikk's forces usually congregated on the planet Shimmer. An icy Outer Rim world that used to host a Rebel Alliance work camp, it made for a perfect hideaway for the Quarren rebel and his carrier. Telly was a bit miffed that he'd been the one to actually tell Lohikk about Shimmer in the first place but, hey, one way or another, their issues would resolve shortly.

Lohikk's forces mainly consisted of a large squadron of 16 bombers housed within the carrier. Their usual methods involved striking a Force wielding target quickly and then hyperspace jumping away to bomb again another day. In a visual display of how Lohikk felt mutual disdain towards the Jedi, the Sith and the Empire, his bomber squadron was made up of ships from either factions: modified Y-Wings, old TIE bombers, etc.

As Cas's ship crested over a large glacier en route to Lohikk's hideout, the Pau'an looked out the window and asked the hunter if he could borrow some warm clothes for the icy atmosphere of Shimmer. Then he'd make a much larger request of the Mandalorian

"I have to admire your piloting, as well as your hunting, bounty hunter. You're a smart lass so I imagine you've already caught on that my men will show up here very soon after we land. I know this isn't your fight but if you keep Lohikk talking and keep your mouth shut about the cavalry coming, that bonus I told you about before could still apply."

Some of Casany’s bounties were vicious, or idiots, or vicious idiots, but some were serpentine of tongue hoping she won't punch their ticket. What about this one with his cockpit compliments?

“Admire? Smart lass?” At least he finally figured out the Mandalorian wasn’t a man. “Trying to get into my pants?”

Cas had actually hesitated back in that street but didn’t want to take on the lot of this resistance, especially if this bonus of a percentage was genuine. Good to have options.

“I have yet to make up my mind.” An honest reply. Ever helmeted, eyes behind her visor sweeping the surface of the planet. More white than green. Just as pretty.

“Pretty penny on your head and I’m not really greedy. Depending on how things play out, eh, I figure Lohikk will clue me in even unintentionally as to who has access to more money.”

Figured she might as well keep Telly Udon on edge till then. “Compartment at your right with an outfit. Should fit. Last bounty left it behind. A Wookiee. Don't ask. Get dressed.”

Hammer descended over the crest and into the camp. It was a bit poetic that what was once in the service of the Rebel Alliance now served whatever this resistance was. It was no less typical that there was a bit of a rift between a couple of cells within it.

Quarren. Pau’an. Cas had a different dance. Ramp lowered, she calmly walked down, a gentle snowfall melting on her armor, arsenal sheathed and holstered, hands free. Before her was a row of blaster-toting rebels in the cold, weapons lowered, and in the center was a Quarren.

“Anvil,” Lohikk greeted in a tone of voice that couldn’t help but grin. “You do live up to your reputation. I’ll give you that.” He looked from the hunter to her bounty and paused, tilting his head in study. “Telly…you look...good...”

Telly didn't want to ask if the fur coat belonged to the Wookiee or was made out of the Wookiee so he wisely followed Casany's instructions and put it on silently. It honestly fit fairly well - Wookiees may have been a bit thicker but height wise, they and Pau'ans were pretty similar.

"Better than some, I suppose. Hunting your own people, Lohikk? Tut tut, the lengths we'll go to..." Telly chided the Quarren mockingly.

"What's there to say, Telly? Your sad devotion to those Jedi are what's holding us back from true victory."

"I'm no Jedi lover but I know how to pick my battles and I know my history. While your grandfather was fighting Mon Cals for the Separatists, I was there fighting alongside to Kenobi to liberate my homeworld from those same Separatists. I know what real oppression looks like, old sport."

Lohikk looked as though he very much wanted to responded and perhaps he started to but, if he had, no one heard him due to the loud Lambda shuttle that came streaking out of the sky. Telly's men had arrived. It figured they arrived so quickly - having been here before, they knew to take the Mewton Glacier pass, unlike Casany.

The shuttle hovered above camp - the two Resistance leaders temporarily at an impasse. Lohikk had Telly dead to rights but if the Pau'an died, Telly's men would blast this camp to oblivion. Telly himself offered a solution.

"Lohikk, I know you have that old war trident around camp somewhere. My own vibroblade is aboard this Mandalorian's ship. If she'd be willing to fetch it for me, perhaps we can settle this between ourselves? You always were fond of honor duels."
