Vas woke up abruptly, laying on her stomach on a table in the middle of a small dirt hut. The inside was sparsely decorated, aside from the shelves of herbs and containers lining the walls. Aside from the light coming in from the doorway, there was a beam of light from a small opening on the other side of the hut. The lighting was perfect for resting: not so bright that it hurts the eyes, but not so dark that it caused trouble seeing.

She figured with the brightness outside and the fact that she didn't quite remember how she got into the hut that she fell asleep sometime after her and Alexei returned from the cave. She reached her hand around to feel her back. Her torso was wrapped in bandages, and her back stung a bit when she touched it, but didn't hurt too badly otherwise, save for a little soreness. The underside of the bandages felt cool and moist, like there was some sort of lotion there to help with the healing process. Without getting off the table, she turned her head around to look to her left. Alexei was laying on a table next to hers, his torso and arm bandaged. She wasn't sure if he was asleep, and she didn't want to wake him up, so she turned and looked to the right. There was the man they had saved from the Kath hounds, laying on his back with his arm held together by some decent stitching. The girl was sitting on a stool to his left, watching over him.

Vas locked eyes with the girl, whose eyes widened and face grew long in wonder and shock. She rushed over to Vas' table and asked a flurry of questions. "What happened? Are you okay? Did you get them? Are we all gonna be okay?" she asked in rapid succession. She was trying her best to whisper, but she wasn't doing a great job of it since the man next to Vas lifted his torso off the table with his healthy arm and sat up. He shook his head and rubbed his eyes lethargically. He grumbled lightly before turning his face to look at Vas and the girl. Softly he asked, "You...you're back?" He grunted, trying to position himself comfortably on the table. "...What happened to you?"

Regaining conscious was a long process and during the whole process he could feel the Force. As if his mind was bring carried by a flow of water. He didn't see much or understand things but he could feel events and tragedies. Having your mind wonder as someone connected with the Force was becoming one of the most annoying part of being Force sensitive. Still he was happy to understand that he survived the fight with the Kath Hounds. But slowly a few sensations returned, such as the sense of touch. He could feel somethings solid on his back, which meant he was probably laying down.

So there was no doubt that Vas was able to get him someplace safe, though the thought she had to endure so much after everything she went though was terrible. No doubt he would need to find someway to repay Vas once he had a chance. But it wasn't like he had credits or anything in his possession to which he can give? Maybe a I owe you would do for this situation. Though it didn't feel enough given that she saved his life since no doubt he would have died in that cave.

Soon hearing was beginning to return along with smell. An so far he could notice there was talking and it sounded like a woman's voice. At first he didn't recognize it but as the woman continue to talk he was able to figure out that it belong to the woman who he had saved. Which probably meant he was back at the settlement somewhere, no doubt in some sort of hospital, without really consciously using the Force he could sense two others in the room. Both of which felt familiar, no doubt Vas and the brother which they had saved.

But as his senses returned so did his ability to speak, and despite his eyes still being closed though he felt sure he could open them he spoke with a rather hoarse voice.

"You know some of us are trying to rest?" He didn't mean to sound harsh but the fact that his body was still recovering meant he didn't have a lot of luxury of how he sounded.

Still a smile could be found on his lips, he was proud of both himself and Vas. Though his body remained unmoved he tried his best to just rest tired from all the events that recently transpired.

Right as the woman was about to start another round of questions, Alexei snapped from the other side of the hut. Vas and the others immediately fell silent, looking down at the floor or away from the others' faces. Vas turned her head to glance at Alexei and see if he was doing alright. He was still laying on the table, his eyes closed and his limbs limp. Then, as she was about to turn around to address the woman, she saw a smile on his lips. Vas nodded and found herself smiling too. She was impressed that they were still alive after fighting off an entire army of Kath hounds. Strangely aggressive Kath hounds, at that.

She turned to the man and the woman that they had saved, and her mind flashed back to when she saw them crying for help in that field, and Alexei on the speeder trying to defend them from the pack. In hindsight, the pack he was taking on was smaller than half the size of the pack that they eventually cleared. At the start, she felt compelled to make herself useful, so she stepped in to help despite the lingering fear that she was being a nuisance. In the end, though, seeing Alexei smiling, and even seeing him still alive, convinced Vas that she more than made herself useful.

A grin on her face, she turned sluggishly to the woman and rasped, "You have nothing to worry about. We're both going to be alright." She pointed her head towards the man. "It looks like your companion is recovering nicely."

The man smiled and nodded politely, looking down to examine his resting body. The woman went on: "It-It's just so incredible that you two are alright. I c-" Vas shushed her gently and held her finger to her own mouth. She continued, whispering, "I can't believe you risked our lives just to save us. Thank you so, so, so much, we are so grateful. Please, is there anything we can do to repay you?"

Vas' mellow expression and languid body contrasted the woman's frantic questioning. She paused for a moment, not to think, just because she was tired. "You will have to ask Alexei about that," she responded. "As for me, you don't have to do anything for me in return. Knowing that you two are safe and the threat of the hounds eradicated is enough compensation for me."

He could hear the not addible sound of awkwardness from the group as he reminded them of the fact he was very hurt. But he could feel Vas fill up with pride with the fact that they won. It wasn't a small feat to be sure as the number of Kath hounds were absurd. Could packs really get that big on Dantooine? Clearly he would have to come and make sure those packs remain in numbers that didn't just overwhelm the settlements of Dantooine.

Yet as he slowly began to regain movement from his sluggish body, he was sure that his arm was going to be one cool mess to look at. He had been stab and smacked with glass bottles but having a Kath hound bite down onto a arm was something different altogether. The pain at least was numbed by whatever he was given so he was very thankful for that. Cause even though its numb he could tell that he would be crying out in pain if it wasn't. Things were looking good till Vas decided to decline any reward. Now how was he suppose to ask for anything if his comrade was just going to show how just they were. It would just make him look like a ass.

"N-no like Vas said keeping people safe is its own reward." There was a small blush on his cheeks as he tried his best to sound convincing, the lifestyle he was use to was hard to let go.

In the past he would have demanded credits or maybe a nice date for saving a girl. But now since he was suppose to be a good soldier out stopping a evil Empire he couldn't just do whatever he liked. He had to represent them where he went. Though it was doubtful they knew the two of them were a part of the Galactic Alliance. Though as he lay down on the table he felt like going back maybe the cave could be used for something better. But definitely not now considering he needed time to recover.

"Hey could someone hand me a shirt." He kept his eyes closed no longer smiling though, as he had just bandages around his arm and pants on, but nothing else his bare chest with the scars and wounds out for all to see.

Now he didn't have that many but he did had a lot of new ones. An for some reason he felt self conscious, sure he was fit and had no shame but he didn't want to have people stare to much as his wounds. His eyes finally opening up, his vision was blurry but after a few times blinking he was able to get it all cleared out. Turning to Vas and the two others, he wasn't going to pick himself up just yet as he was still tired.

Vas shifted her body to look around the room. The place was spacious, and relatively clean except for the blood-stained clothing. Surprising that a medicine hut would be this big in a village like this, she thought. There had to be a reason why it would be able to accommodate for so many people, or maybe the medic just feels more comfortable in a less cramped space. Maybe this was the only building available to him at the time, which could be the case since there was quite a crowd the other day coming from such a small settlement.

She stuck her foot on the floor and leaned forward, debating whether or not she should get up.It wasn't the best idea to get up when she still needed to rest, but she needed some way to pass the time. And she could find Alexei a shirt. As she lifted herself off the table, she felt pain in her back from bending forward and released her hands from the table. Standing up could wait, she thought, as she centered herself on the table and looked around. No shirts could be seen, aside from the bloody ones. "I'm not seeing any, unless you want a bloodied shirt." She then saw in the corner of the room an off-white tunic that looked sterile. "Never mind, I see a tunic near you in the corner. But I'm too weak to walk over there and so are you."

Vas turned to the woman. "Actually, there is something you can do for us. Could you grab the tunic over there and give it to Alexei?" The woman smiled, pleased that she could help them. "It's the least I could do," she said, smiling at Vas before walking over to the corner.

Vas was a good person in Alexei's mind. He could hear her try to get up and look for a shirt for him. He wasn't actually expecting her to do that rather the lady which they had rescue. He would have told her to sit back down since she was just as injured as himself. Yet his body betrayed him as he tried to open his mouth and his back began to hurt. No doubt having the Kath hound slam him into the ground left a bad bruise. Maybe it was the fact his senses were coming back slowly but he finally started feeling that pain on his back it almost made him want to yell in pain. Yet Alexei had just enough willpower to suppress it.

Listening to her speak he could only grunt in agreement about being too weak to wonder to the shirt. Sure he was starting to move his toes and fingers a bit more. So far he was beginning to get back control, and it was almost like a old man learning the joys of modern medicine regaining control of his limbs. It was a simple feeling, moving ones limbs. Still despite the fact having a problem moving would have scared most people already he knew better. It was just the fact his body was waking up and the lack of energy he had since it was busy trying to repair the damages.

Hearing the woman be asked to help him out; he turned towards her as she grabbed the shirt. Smiling it was a bit embarrassing but also flattering at the same time. It was normal for people to enjoy others caring for them but being as heavy injured as he was it was going to be painful just to put the shirt on. Watching her approach he proceed to lift himself up using his arms and his core. With some unknown energy he was able to accomplish the feat.

"Thanks. You know I never really caught your name, mind telling me what it is?" Alexei did his best to lift his arms and help put the shirt on, and with the shirt on he turned to Vas.

"So Vas what you going to do once you are all done resting?" There was a few things he could think that would definitely be helped by her skills.

The woman flashed a smile as she handed Alexei the shirt. She walked back to her original position quickly, not wanting to disturb him as he was trying to rest. When Alexei had asked her for her name, she stopped and turned her body to address him. "My name's Laila. Thanks for asking." Thanks for asking? It was kind of a dumb question, but she was grateful that he was getting to know her after he had saved her from a pack of Kath hounds. "Thanks again for everything you've done for us." She turned back around, smiling, and continued walking back to the other side of the room.

Vas took a second to ponder Alexei's question. She had been so caught up in the present, at least for the past few days, that she had put aside any plans for the future. She did have a few things in mind, though. "I'd like to help out the Alliance in any way I can." She assumed that saying that out loud wouldn't be too much of a threat around a Jedi hopeful and the people they had just saved. "Maybe help them gain more allies through negotiations. But for now, just some simple relief efforts. Anywhere where I can put my marksmanship to use towards a good cause."

She paused for a few seconds, considering her other plans that had taken a backseat to championing the rebel cause. It was rare that she thought about her personal goals, if at all. The way she saw it, if a galaxy-wide war was being fought, and thousands were suffering because of it, she couldn't ignore them completely in good conscience. Now she acknowledged for a short moment, that in Alexei's eyes, and in general, she was an individual, not a war machine.
"Now that I think of it, I would really like to travel more. Something about visiting new planets and surrounding myself with different cultures gives me a sense of freedom. Until just recently, I had never left Mon Cala. When I find myself in a new location, I always feel somewhat ignorant and uncultured, like I had chosen to seclude myself to my home planet. That feeling goes away eventually, though, and a sense of wonder always replaces it. Putting myself out of my comfort zone is something I have always needed work on, but now I can do it while visiting places I have always wanted to see."

"Part of that is getting a new ship. Piloting is one of my strengths, and something that puts me at ease, so an upgrade from my father's old ship is in order. It isn't a huge priority at the moment, I can still fly decently with the freighter I have." She stopped herself there. She had gotten into a habit of putting all her thoughts into words lately, and she certainly didn't want to bother the others with her constant rambling. She paused for a second to gather herself and said calmly to Alexei, "How about yourself? Any plans for after recovery?" After unloading all of her thoughts onto him, she was curious to find out more about him.
