Several weeks had passed since the Jedi split apart. Every Jedi had suffered in one way or another. Darius Khan lost his master due to the chaotic event. This was even a pain for him; his training hadn't finished. He knew how to control the Force; his disability severely limited what he could do. Unfortunately he never learned a specific form for lightsaber combat. Even though his Force training was finished, his proficiency in with the Jedi weapon was insufficient. When he lost his master, no one came to complete this skill.

Darius sat in his room meditating; he wasn't too bothered by the fact he never learned any specific form. He knew life was a learning experience; he would learn this skill in time. He wouldn't need a full time master to perfect the art of the sword. He realized the leaders of the Order understood this as he received his message. He was about to be promoted to knight; he only had to complete a mission. The details were not difficult to understand, and the task was not dangerous. This mission’s importance was high, however; he had to locate the crystal for his lightsaber that he would have forever. The blade, being an extension of his own body, would be something he would have to trust with his life; the crystal would have to be chosen wisely.

The caves of Ossus were the mandated locations. He would find the common Adegan crystals there. While many crystals share the same name, he knew that no two were the same; even if he found only the common type of crystal, he knew his would be perfect for him. He didn’t need the best, and he didn’t want it either. He would be perfectly happy with whatever he came across. And so, with that frame of mind, he set out into the wilderness to find the item of importance.

To some, the barren landscape was a pain to traverse over. For Darius Khan it was both a misery and a paradise. The young Jedi enjoyed nothing more than being alone with nature. Once the temple was far from view, he felt much more at home with the world around him. The soil was not tainted by any form of rough civilization. However, a horror came from the fact that nothing else touched the landscape. The Jedi always had to meditate with life around him; being alone surrounded by no life, even in natural setting, was unnerving. Even so, the padawan did not allow this to interfere with his mission.

The journey lasted for hours before a single noticeable cavern appeared. Darius quickly made his way to the opening and entered inside. It became darker the further he entered, but this did not stop him; one ability he had mastered under his previous master was a form of sense. He could feel the way the Force physically connected everything; in a sense he could literally feel the vibrations of the world around him. When his eyes failed him, this power intensified; he had no more illusions to hold him back. The caves showed up clearly in his mind, and he could carry onwards even in the lightless air.
