Kesiya's morning had started like many others, waking up a few hours before down to shower and meditate before she early shift started. It wasn't long before she was in her robes and mask walking through a maintenance room on the side of the walkway to the cafeteria and into a hidden security closet with a desk and over a dozen monitors displaying various locations around the temple, and even a few places throughout the city beyond. "Anything interesting?" She asked the similarly masked Jedi sitting at the desk. Even through the mask and armored robes, Kesiya could tell it was Doneric Javle, a Chiss male, mid twenties and a good friend of hers.

He spun around in the chair with a cup of tea in his hand, removing his mask to take a few sips before answering. "Not much boss, a few kids making a fuss out at the eastern gate, wanting to take a tour of the temple later, but they quickly left once we contacted the school they were skipping class from. Other than those puddles from the rain last week are still lingering in the sparring pit outside, the one with the tree overhead. Some of the elderly Jedi masters are complaining that the mud is a hazard, but the younger Initiates have been sparring with staffs in it attempting to work on their balancing skills. A few broken noses and bruises so far, but nothing major." Kesiya gave him a disapproving glare as he quickly replaced his mask, she'd let it slide since it was so early and she wasn't in the mood for writing him up for being out of uniform, but he'd know better than to do it again.

She poured herself a cup of tea, causing Doneric to glance up at her with curiosity as to how she planned on drinking it without removing her mask just as he'd done. She cracked a cheeky grin and whistled when he saw the straw she'd pulled from within the folds of cloth covering her wrist. "Good, the Initiates can continue their exercises, balance training in mud is actually a good idea, perhaps we'll have some of the guards go out there later and show them how it's done when we're off duty. As for the Jedi masters, let them complain, once they come in for launch they'll spend the rest of the day in their meditation rooms or the garden. They won't even remember the mud is there until they complain all over again tomorrow." Kesiya laughed to herself as Doneric pulled a datapad off the desk to do the hourly report.

He was busy going over the paperwork and focusing on the lower screens that he missed something in the second to the top screen over in the corner. Kesiya sighed. "Javle." Kesiya used the man's last name, causing him to stop what he was doing and look where she was looking. He was already pulling up the last thirty seconds of the screen's video before she even asked him to. "Are those the kids from earlier? Don't tell me you just threatened to call their school. Now we'll have to fill out a proper report and contact local authorities." Five teenagers were busy climbing a tree and walking along a large branch to jump down to the other side of the wall onto the temple grounds.

Kesiya was already out the door and halfway down the hallway towards the cafeteria by the time Donneric was shutting off alarms and alerting the nearby security guards not to use lethal force. This was just what Kesiya needed to start off her day. It didn't take Kesiya long to arrive to the scene, three other temple guards had already halted the children and made them sit on the ground, though no one had any weapons drawn. Nothing visibly distinguished Kesiya's uniform from the other guards, but it was quite obvious by the way she carried herself that she was in charge of the situation and the other guards answered to her. It was even likely that the trespassers wouldn't even know she was a woman until she spoke.

Kesiya stopped from the leader of the kids, a boy, a bit brawny and looked like he had a cocky attitude. She stood there for a few moments letting her presence fill the space between her and him as she observed the tree with which the children had climbed over the wall. He spoke first. "If any of you harm us, my father-" Kesiya stopped observing the tree, glaring down at him as means of cutting him off. The boy's name was Terrence Vala, he was the son of the governor of Iziz. The king might rule over the entire planet, but the day to day affairs of the city itself was left to a man named Roel Vala.

Kesiya sighed, drawing her lightsaber as the children gave her looks of terror. One of the other boys even screamed as she ignited it's yellow blades. Kesiya had to choke back her laughter in order to keep her composer but one of the other guards had to cover their own giggling with a fake cough. Kesiye sent the lightsaber into the air where it flew towards the tree, cutting the brace the teenagers had crossed over onto temple grounds with. The branch had to be a few hundred pounds of wood as it slammed into the stone walkway below, not even three feet from one of the guards. Kesiya smiled as her lightsaber returned to her hand. The guard in question hadn't even flinched.

The children stared at branch in awe and fear as Kesiya returned her lightsaber to her utility belt. "You will all be escorted off of the ground now. As for you Terrance, I will make sure to notify your father of how much authority he has over the Jedi Order. I wasn't aware he had any but you've made sure to put me in my place and I think your father will be most pleased to hear it." Terrence looked mortified, his face completely still as his brain tried to contemplate what his father would say to him when he got home. Kesiya didn't really plan on getting the boy in trouble, though the governor would have to be notified of the incident either way.

As the other guards led the children away, one remaining to levitate the branch over the wall off Jedi grounds and into trees beyond, Kesiya's comlink lit up. With a press of a button Kesiya could hear Doneric speaking again. "Impressive display, cutting the branch was a nice touch. Also, your needed over at the north landing zone, B13, there is a detail of guards already in position to receive a friendly arrival." A friendly arrival? If it was a Jedi there was no need for security, even if it wasn't a Jedi people always arrived after setting up an appointment. Kesiya had to admit she was curious as she made her way around the temple grounds quickly.

It was barely four minutes later as she watched the freighter land only for a child and droid to step out before the ship took off again. The guards already there moved aside as Kesiya walked up to the young girl, who couldn't have been more than nine, maybe ten, though she seemed a bit thin for ten. "My name is Kesiya Naima, Jedi Knight. I was told you've come to find out if your gifted in the ways of the Force. Mind if I know your name?" Once Kesiya made sure the child was actually Force sensitive, she'd dismiss the guards, but if she wasn't then the girl would have a constant escort until she was asked to leave. At most, if she wasn't able to use the Force, she'd be given some food and supplies, a bit of credits and sent on her way. The Jedi simply didn't have the time or resources to take in strays.

I looked up at you worriedly I back up a bit. RZ goes in front of me in order to protect me. "I-I'm Mira Starwind..My Father..his name was Odo Sateel..and this is RZ my droid, he's only protecting me please don't be upset if he sticks close to me." I bow slightly and I remember I'm wearing only my small work clothes. "So, I-I heard you were to test me? RZ said all Jedi are to be tested..and I got a bit worried." I shuffle my left foot awkwardly looking around nervously

Kesiya smiled behind her mask, not that the youngling would have been able to see it. "Well, Miss Starwind, you have nothing to worry about. Just a few questions, nothing more. You might even enjoy answering them. As for your droid, we will scan him to make sure no one has tampered with his circuitry and RZ is functioning at full capacity, but you will be permitted to keep him at your side. Your property is still yours, even if you become a Jedi like us." Kesiya motioned slightly and one of the other guards moved towards the droid with a bomb detection device before kneeling near the droid.

Kesiya motioned to Mira to follow her as Kesiya began walking towards the temple. Two of the other guards followed in her step while the remaining two stayed with the droid to finish their scans. If they didn't find anything after a few minutes, RZ would be returned to the young girl before they even made it to their destination. As the doors slid open and Kesiya made her way into the temple, she turned back to look at Mira. "Welcome to the Jedi Order." Kesiya wasn't one to ignore the smaller moments of life, the ones that gave a person meaning, and a Jedi's first steps into the Order were one of those moments to be remembered.

The image of the young woman growing up into an teenager, full of potential and confidence, sparing with her fellow Initiates. A young woman taking her first steps into knighthood while her master stood nearby. The moment of truth where Mira came face to face with her first sith, forced to fight and kill for the first time. That first argument she would have with her own student one day and how she'd grow to miss those arguments in time after her student went on to knighthood themselves. The image of Mira meditating on some remote planet during the early years of middle age. That fateful day where Mira would finally be cut down by a sith, her body adorn with oils awaiting the funeral pyre as Kesiya stood guard over her. As a temple guard, Kesiya only got to share the first and last moments with her Jedi kin, with few exceptions.

Kesiya turned away, away from such thoughts and from Mira before leading the youngling further into the temple. They would enter a room with a few Jedi scattered about, two Initiates in their young teens sparring with training lightsabers as their masters watched. "Master Olong, Master Yefay, we have a prospective initiate seeking to take the trial. Would you mind doing the honors?" The two woman, an orange skinned Twi'lek and a deep burgundy Togruta, turned towards the temple guard before leaning back to get a look at Mira as well. Kesiya and the other guards would await them to perform the test. A simple one really, all they had to do was reach out with the Force and convince Mira to do the same, but Keisya couldn't interact with anyone in such an intimate way while on duty.

I look at them nervously, I feel a pull of some sort I reach out it it, to grip it within my mind's hand to have this sense of security in this new, strange place. The pull seems to emininate from a small doorway to the left of the two Masters it is plain but I see a small glowing purple light from underneath the doors frame. I watch as they talk among themselves. I feel the pull slowly ebb away and I feel anxious I desperately try to reach for it again but it was all in vain. I resign myself to the empty space that now begins to fill where the feeling of safety had once been. "W-What exactly is this..Test?" I look around trying to calm myself. "And..I uh, felt a pull from earlier it..came from that door over there." I point to the door the light had gone out and the door simply looked old and worn but I look at it as if something wonderful yet terrible laid beyond it.

Jalen Kron was meditating in one of the meditation chambers in the Temple, sitting cross legged with his eyes shut and his hands on his knees. Floating before him was a deconstructed version of his violet-bladed lightsaber, slowly putting itself back together. The young Knight focused on his love for Akasha, his adopted mother, using memories to immerse himself in the Light Side after a particularly difficult mission. The Kiffar had been tasked with taking down a small Dark Side cult beggining to gain power on Hoth, and had encountered a Sith Holocron that tempted and tormented him all the way back to Onderon, where it was delivered.

As he was meditating, Jalen felt the touch of another; a younger presence, trying to reach out to his signature in the Force. As the cover pieces to his lightsaber fell into place, they sealed away the violet light shining around the room, and the lightsaber rested itself in his lap. The Kiffar stood up, and clipped his lightsaber on his belt before looking himself over. He was still drenched in sweat from his mission, as the first thing he had done after getting the holocron to the Jedi Masters was to meditate and recenter himself. The young Jedi also noted he had been meditating for at least 4 hours, deconstructing and reconstructing his lightsaber.

Jalen opened the door and walked out of the room, putting his flat-brimmed hat on his head as he almost walked into a youngling and the captain of the Temple Guard.

"Oh, sorry about that!" The young Knight said laughing as he stepped away from the group. He gave the Guard captain a brief bow before addressing the youngling. "Was that you I sensed reaching out with the Force? My name's Jalen Kron, and I'm a Jedi Knight. Who are you?"

I look up at you, I feel a sense of calm around you. "My name is Mira Starwind Sir, I reached out to you because.." I hesitate feeling foolish but I sigh and continue "Your presence made me feel..safe and..warm I guess there was something about you that I wanted to hang unto the feeling. Does that sound strange?" I look away a red blush lightly dusting my cheeks I usually don't talk to people but, I felt like with him I could tell him anything. I murmur something under my breath and look to my scuffed brown boots I noticed flecks of sand on them. The sand reminds me of why I am here and what I must do I look up again and blurt out. "D-do you know a woman named Kira Ava'ne? Shes a Jedi Knight. RZ had a holorecording of her in his databanks..I was going to tell someone but we got caught up in the whole escaping a Sith Lord business. A-and..this.." I hold out my father's lightsaber. "I'm not sure what to do with this..my father is dead killed by a man called Lord Marr..I feel like I don't deserve it..because I couldn't help him. All I have left is this..holocron that he wanted so badly and I don't know what to do with it..I uh, also have this wierd thing I don't know what it does." I hold out a Star map though it looks non funcional at the present time.

RZ charges over at full speed he tries to slow down and skids in front of me he beeps and chirps excitedly while a guard runs after him he slips and goes face first into a walk he gets up and growls then yells "droid! I said you may return to your master however, you shouldn't run in the temple!" He looks flustered and I feel second hand embarrassment RZ simply chirps at me happily and looks at the other two people he beeps a welcome at Jalen and Kesiya. He turns to me I look at you both and smile sheepishly. "This is RZ my droid he's..very energetic and he likes to be by my side for safety reasons he also wanted to show you something if that's ok with you." RZ dances happily clearly excited to be near me.

Kesiya watched disinterested as the Jedi identifying himself as Jalen Kron bowed to her, an odd greeting, her own sense of faint confusion mirrored on the faces of the other two Jedi Knights present. She could hear the robes of the two temple guards move as they both turned to each other, likely with similar expressions on their own faces. It would have been inappropriate for her to bow back, or even to acknowledge to strange display, instead returning her attention to the youngling present, who seemed to have taken much more of a shine to the young Knight than Kesiya though would be appropriate, not that she'd have any say in who young Mira learned from.

It was clear that the young girl was indeed Force sensitive, it wouldn't be long before she could enroll in classes and begin learning the ways of he Jedi. But this news the child brought made the moment far more bitter than sweet. Her father had been a Jedi Knight, what's more he had died fighting a Sith Lord? Kesiya had never heard of a Lord Marr, not that she doubted the child's words. Perhaps this Lord Marr was a self acclaimed Lord of the Sith and not a true Darth. Still, anyone foolish enough to claim lordship over their fellow Sith was either a fool or they had the power to back it up, and both were dangerous nonetheless when it came to Sith.

Kesiya reached out as the young girl offered her father's lightsaber for one of the Jedi Knights present to take it from her. The air had grown solum in just a few sparse moments, and all save Kesiya were silent. As the masked guardian wrapped her hand over Mira's, curling the youngling's fingers over the lightsaber, she spoke. "Keep it and remember your father, one day wield it to strike down those that would deny you peace, that would deny us all peace. Know that your father has commanded the respect of every Jedi here, and that his death will not be in vain." Kesiya's hand slipped away from Mira's, the young girl still holding her father's lightsaber. No one would remove it from her possession, as it was a growing trend among the younger members of the Order to take up the weapons of their dead parents whom had died in the line of duty. An army of orphans, a cruel joke on them all it seemed.

For now Mira needed to find her place within the temple and the Order, but Kesiya would make sure to learn where the child's father had been slain. Even if she had to do so herself, she would make sure his body was retrieved and given a proper funeral. No Jedi deserved to be forgotten by their own. "Mira, perhaps Jalen Kron can show you a few meditating techniques while I try and find some more information on Kira Ava'ne, your father, and this Lord Marr you mentioned." Kesiya was interrupted by a commotion from behind as the youngling's droid came crashing into the room with a guard on his heel. Kesiya simply held a hand up to halt the guard. He had nearly fallen over he'd stopped so quickly, Kesiya hadn't even needed to say anything more because her simple gesture had told him everything. SHouting and chasing an astromech through the temple halls was in no way how Kesiya expected her fellows to conduct themselves.

Once Kesiya was sure she'd made her point, she waved at the guard, dismissing him to go back to his post. Turning her attention to the droid, Kesiya waited to see whatever it was the robot had to show them all, though she did take a peek at Mira's starmap, curious as to what it's contents could reveal. "Very well, show us." The masked Jedi offered in reply to Mira's words.

RZ Chirps in affirmation and replays the holorecording "If you can see this it means you're heading to a Republic or Jedi controlled planet, I am Kira Ava'ne a Jedi Knight. I ask that you take this droid to the Jedi Temple so that they can collect a map to a location where I have seen ancient Jedi technology and some Sith artifacts. this must be carried out in secret however and there will be a good reward if you have done what I asked in a dropbox next to where the location of the artifacts are. I hope to see this mission complete so that the galaxy shall prosper once again. Thank you and May the Force be with you. Mira Stares at the woman intently as if trying to figure out what it is that made her want to help her, to see her face to face. Mira looked up at Jalen speaking softly "This woman seems familiar to me..she may have valuable information but I'm not sure how I'd be able to help." RZ chirps slightly and bumps against me as if he wanted to give a strange hug of his own. Mira looks up to Kesiya worriedly "Do you have any information on her or my father Odo? I know his body is still in the droid shop on Tatooine in Mos Eisly but I'm afariad that maybe someone could have ransacked the shop.." Mira shuffles her left foot nervously and RZ beeps a bit trying to calm her down with his presence however, even that could not still her worries. "D-do you think the comm thing..is a map to her?" Mira says suddenly and with a bit of a whimper in her voice as if she felt she would get her hopes up again they would be cut down again.

Jalen laughed at the girl, Mira's suggestion of feeling safe and warm around somebody, especially a Jedi, wasn't strange at all.

"You see Mira," he began, "while I was immersing myself in the energy of the Light Side, you probably felt my connection to the light, and it acted like a beacon, drawing you in. It's not strange at all."

The Kiffar quietly looked on as Mira approached the head Temple Guard and offered up her father's lightsaber. He knew what would happen already, even without seeing the event progress. The Jedi's mind travelled back to the fateful day when Emerald had picked him up, a filthy, thieving orphan, in space. At one point he had offered his grandfather's lightsaber to her, only for her to lecture him for an hour on lightsabers, how they were as much of a person as a hand or leg, not simply a tool to be passed around and used for ones own purposes.

Jalen had to admit, he was taken aback when the Temple Guard suggested he watch over Mira for a little while; the young Knight felt a bit unprepared to be teaching anyone, especially a youngling something as basic as meditation techniques, but he would have to try. The girl's droid, RZ, seemed a bit quirky, but the message it delivered was serious. However it was not the Kiffar's area of expertise, so he decided to leave the problem to the Temple guards. Turning and looking down at Mira, he said,

"Come with me for a little while, and relax. Is there anything you need, like food?"

Mira's stomach growled loudly for a bit she blushes thinking the last time she had food was around two days ago when she left Tatooine she hadn't eaten dinner that night or when she arrived. "Ah, I think I can manage.." she says softly RZ chirps and moves around her angrily as if to lecture her "RZ! I'll be fine..I don't want to overstep my boundaries." Mira goes to Jalens side gripping her fathers lightsaber and looks up at him "so how exactly does one meditate I mean my dad used to kneel for a long while and he would get all glowy especially his eyes and then he'd go off and prepare something like a battle droid or a probe of some sort.." I recall one evening that he built a huge droid and it was very impressive. "One night my dad built this huge droid and it had a ton of weapons stored in secret pockets and he sent it off to Alderaan by a smuggler...he said it was for Abriwekk..and his friends..I'm not sure who that is but he seemed important enough for a custom battle droid.." I look up at you smiling slightly

Kesiya and the other Jedi Knights grew far more serious than before. It seemed Jalen would be able to take care of the youngling for now, Kesiya had other matters to attend to it seemed. "Mira, would you mind if I took RZ and your star map to Jedi leadership? They'll need to review the information before they can assign Jedi to track this Jedi technology down. I apologize for such a brief meeting." It really was sad to cut it all short like this, but where Mira needed to be shown the robes and guided towards melding into the Jedi way of life, Kesiya's responsibilities took the forefront of her priorities. It sounded like this Kira Ava'ne might have been in danger, if some record of her and her last known location could be found they could send Jedi to her aid, to say nothing of retrieving the body of Mira's father on Tatooine.

Kesiya shifted her footing as the youngling demanded to know if she'd known about the two Jedi Knights in question. "My apologies, I've never heard of them personally, but I'm sure there is some record of them in the Jedi Archives." Luckily for Kesiya, even if their files were designated as needing security clearance, Kesiya had that security clearance. Most temple guards' personal finals were also kept under lock and key, but they tended to have access to such things themselves. In truth Kesiya could go anyway within the temple, the vaults, the prison cells, even the private chambers of any other Jedi, not that she normally had any reasoning to do so. The same was true of information, Kesiya knew things about the Jedi and the Order's activities that would make other Jedi gawk in disbelief.

Kesiya would leave for now, hopefully with RZ in toe, but she'd be able to download the hologram form the droid remotely if need be. Either way, she'd make sure to show the hologram to the Jedi Warden of Onderon, the local authority and leadership of the Jedi on Onderon and in the surrounding space. It wasn't like the actual High Council could be bothered with every mission the Order underwent all across the galaxy. "I'll return with any information I have young one, Jalen Kron, take care of her. I believe there is a group of younglings around her age out in the gardens taking a class about Force presence and sensory abilities. Might be to Mira's benefit to stop by and observe." Chances were Mira wasn't skilled enough to partake in the class just yet, though hearing the instructor explain such things would help her know what to focus on during her meditation practices. And with that, Keisya took her leave for the time being.

(OOC - Kesiya will return to the thread once Mira and Jalen have had time to do their thing. I'll be keeping up with the thread so feel free to skip me until I hop back in.)

Mira nodded "please be gentle with him he gets really nervous if I'm not with him I'm not sure if he was programmed that way or if it's a learned behavior but, please just make sure he'll be ok." Mira slowly walk over to Jalen RZ chirps sadly at Mira and she grabs Jelans hand for security "well, I'm ready when you are, this class might be fun I think." Mira shuffles her left foot awkwardly. Mira remembered something and runs up to Kesiya "Um, it's about Lord Marr..He knew my name..I wasn't Ms. Sateel like my father, I was Ms. Starwind. How he knew my name I'm not sure but I'm worried and I guess I never realized it till now but if my father is Sateel..Why did he say my last name was Starwind..I don't get it. I guess I never questioned it till now." Mira looks worriedly and sad at the same time she sits for a bit trying to understand or figure out where in her small life things went wrong and how and why her last name was so different from her father's.

Jalen agreed with the Temple Guard; the class would be a good experience for the young Mira. However, he quite noticeably flinched when the youngling reached up to take hold of his hand. Gosh, he wished Emerald were there to deal with her. The Kiffar had always had a talent for showing off in front of younglings, but simply didn't know what to do around them normaly. He walked Mira through the halls of the Onderon temple, eventually enetting a large room where a female Hapan was instructing a group of a dozen younglings on how to feel the Force in those around them.

Seeing as how Mira seemed so attached to him and saw the Kiffar as a mentor figure, the young Knight hoped that the sight of the younglings didn't cause her to ask what he was like as as youngling, or how he came to the Jedi. It would be an "interesting" story, to be blunt.

Mira watched the other younglings shuffling her left foot she let go of Jalens hand and sat in the cart back trying to emulate what they were doing however, she ended up thinking about her home, and her family, and then nothing at all. This thinking of nothing caused Mira to go into a trance in this trance she saw a rose skinned woman and a Wookiee with a the custom battle droid her father built for them. She watched as they talked about something but she couldn't make out what they were saying but she felt a close connection to the woman her black eyes seemingly softened up she looked over to where Mira was and she smiled and suddenly, Mira was knocked out of her trance and unto the floor. A few younglings surrounded her and looked at her nervously a few asked if she was alright Mira simply nodded and looked for Jalen feeling a sense of urgency that she needed to ask him what just happened and how she could do it again so that she may understand why she was seeing this and where this woman was so that she can get the answers she needs. She got up and looked for Jalen as the teacher tried to stop her.

Jalen decided to let Mira sit near the back of the class and attempt to meditate as well, seeing as he wasn't going to be such a great teacher. He meditated on his own, thinking about how many master's ridiculed him for his disregard for the Jedi code. The Kiffar had never cared for rules, instead following his own instincts and doing what he believed was right and just. When he had come to the Jedi, not much had changed. When faced with difficult decisions, he didn't look to masters or the Jedi Code for guidance; he meditated on the Force, and how it wanted him to proceed. While many others saw his use of emotions in battle as a danger and road to the Dark Side, the young Knight found that the use of positive emotions strengthened his connection to the Light.

Suddenly, Mira collapsed on the ground. The teacher and students all ran and crowded around her, and after a minute she woke up. He could see she was trying to get up, but the teacher was holding her down and telling her to stay still. As Jalen approached, the younglings moved for him, but the teacher did not. The Kiffar pushed him aside, picking Mira up and exiting the room.

"You can tell me all about what just happened, but only after you eat. Understand?"

"Yes, Master." Mira looks away from him ashamed at what just happened she looks around the temple seeing various questioning gazes from older Knights and their Padawans. Mira wonders where they are going ahead and her stomach loudly growls causing her to jump slightly. "I uh, haven't eaten for a while but I'm fine really you don't have to do this" Mira squirms a bit trying to escape Jalen's grasp her tiny legs wiggling slightly she realizes she won't be able to get free from the stronger Jedi's grip so she resigns herself to being taken somewhere by her mentor.

Jalen walked Mira to the mess hall, and told her to go get any good she wished, then return to the table he was at to eat and talk. The Kiffar remembered his first meal at a Jedi Temple; the food hadn't been the best quality, but it was the most amazing thing the then-youngling had ever tasted. He remembered Emerald watching him with curiosity as he ate 3 platefulls of food. He briefly wondered if he should tell Mira about his days as a youngling to help her adjust.

Sorry about the short post, it was the best I could do while falling asleep and typing on mobile.

Japan was taken aback by Mira's labeling him as master; it felt so strange when just weeks earlier he had addressed his mother by the same title. She certainly seemed eager to hear his story though. It was somewhat sad, but he gathered that she had seen enough hardship to make his early life look like nothing.

"Ok, ok. I'll tell you how I got here. But please just call me Jalen; I was just barely Knighted. Anyways, I came to this temple 5 years ago, brought by a Jedi Knight named Emerald. However, I didn't come like normal. You see, I never knew my father, and my mother was poor and sick since I was born. When I was 5 I began a career of thievery, stealing food and money to survive. She died when I was 10, although not much changed because I had been providing for myself most of my life. It was like I had barely known her."

Jalen took a breath, pausing for a moment before using the Force to pull a plate of biscuits over to himself, and after eating one of them he continued.

"When I was 13 I was finally caught and arrested for theft when was trying to steal from the Chandrilan police barracks kitchens. I went to prison. After about a month, I stole a keycard from a guard and escaped. After getting my stuff from a locker of confiscated materials, I made my way to the landing platforms to steal a ship. It was then that I first used the Force; I accidentally Force pushed 3 guards to their deaths off the platform and escaped in a starfighter. When I dropped out of hyperspace, I was right next to a Jedi freighter. I was lucky the Jedi inside was my future master and adopted mother, Emerald. Otherwise I might have ended up back in prison for much worse than theft. She offered me a place in the Jedi and destroyed the stolen ship. Over the next month or so, we bonded and she officially adopted me. She trained me as an initiate, and now here I am, 5 years later. Jalen Kron, Jedi Knight, Master Thief."

The Kiffar let his story sink in, finishing his plate of biscuits. He was intrigued as to how Mira would react to the story.
