Malastare/M.G Fuel Refinery "Base Alpha"
16:02 local time

vlcsnap-2019-08-15-17h26m53s636.png

It was their last day of duty with the Mining Guild. The Logos was all fixed up. The terrorists were dealt with and now they had nothing to do. Mid was sitting on a cosy chair on top of his ship overlooking the base. The first refining system was up and running, processing and refining the fuel and storing it all into enormous reservoirs. The fuel was amazing for high performance engines such as military warships...or pod-racers. Mid tried his hand at it and almost crashed but he didn't mind. Quite a fun pastime if one had the stones for it.

With nothing to do he trained with Irolia or kept himself busy with various lightsaber designs. But now on the last day of deployment he decided to kick back and have a drink while the workers were busy assembling the final parts for "Base Bravo". Supposedly there is going to be something between four and six bases constructed. This is an enormous operation to say the least.

Mid's helmet was on the roof next to his chair along with a pint of beer halfway finished. On his face was a pair of aviator glasses that he thought fit him pretty well. He was busy scrolling through his datapad, working on some logistics with his duties in the Empire. He had a few big plans in mind, and those plans required proper planning. "What are you planning on doing once we're done with this place?" he asked Irolia, casting a glance at her for a split second before looking back to his datapad.

Irolia in a way could get quite bored if nothing happened so she was pretty happy with distraction Mid provided, then again, she also liked to just relax or sleep. Her wounded troopers had gotten back to 100% health again, so they were put through training by the captain. Irolia even joined them a couple of times when they played ball, of course, she always won, thanks to her force powers, which she used very discreetly. She had even challenged Mid to a ball match between them with her troopers as witnesses, which meant that they would have to be sneaky and not getting caught using their force powers.

Laying on top of Mid's ship, she looked up at the sky with her hands behind her head humming a song for herself. Mid's question broke Irolia out of her thoughts as she glanced over at Mid with his silly glasses. "I dunno, most likely see to my droid, Parrot, he hasn't seen me in a couple of days now. Maybe find something to read, but the loss of Korriban, kind of ruined that part." replied the Pantoran and looked back up at the sky, losing Korriban was a huge loss for the Empire, that much was obvious, but what Irolia hated most about it, was the fact that all the knowledge in the archives most likely was lost.

"What about yourself?" Asked the blue-skinned Sith, not looking at Mid when she asked. Irolia's men were inside of Mid's ship taking a break from training, probably catch up on absent sleep. God, those Mining Guild people really were working their butts off, it almost tiring, just by watching the workers.

Irolia mentioned Korriban, which caused Mid's demeanour to shift tremendously. He sneered and looked away from her and didn't comment at all on what she said. While all Sith felt some form of anger or disappointment from losing Korriban, it was the Purebloods like him in the galaxy that were enraged over the loss. Mid blamed himself, the Mind-Breakers, and every single Sith acolyte, trooper and lord that lost the planet and let the Emperor die.

She asked what he was going to do when he got free from this job and he sat in silence for a few seconds. "Working on some logistics. Going to finalise it once were gone then I'm going to talk to the Dark Council. The Sith can't float in space like pitiful drifters or vagabonds. We need an anchor. It's rumoured that there is a planet around Yavin that contains a powerful Force Nexus. I want to go check it out." he explained to her finally. Of course there was more to it. The loss of Ilum and the disappearance of the Confessor left Mid all alone to try and keep a collapsing church standing. Now it was time to revive the Sacellum.

Mid opened his mouth to speak when a light shock wave could be felt along with a muffled "boom" right behind it. "I thought they used drills, not explosives..." he commented as he looked around. He took his glasses off and looked around. He felt an enormous disturbance ripple through the force and looked to the base's refining system in charge of working the fuel. The workers screamed and ran from the facility as the ground started to rumble. Finally dust kicked up as cracks formed an an enormous circle formed. "Sinkhole." Mid said quickly and grabbed his helmet before jumping off and landing on the ground to sprint to the chaos. "Everybody get out of there, move!" he shouted, using the force to amplify his voice.

He used the Force to yank a few workers through the air to safety as the ground gave in. The facility sank away into the ground while sand and dust kicked up a massive cloud. The cloud came at Mid and everyone close to the hole with powerful force. Focusing the Force Mid pushed his hands out and pressed the cloud back and around him. He growled and focused all his power to keep the wall of dust to tear through the camp at such a powerful speed. The cloud subsided and Mid relaxed, a bit out of breath from the exertion. "Irolia, you okay?" he asked over his commlink, his vision obscured by the dust in the air.

Irolia felt it too, the light shockwave and she got up on her feet, looking in the direction of the sound. "I don't know, it didn't sound like an explosion" stated the female Pantoran and while Mid jumped to play the hero, Irolia casually commed her men, "sinkhole, no need to worry captain" relayed the blue-skinned Sith and jumped off the ship, landing at the front of Mid's ship. Mid looked to be having things under control, so Irolia didn't see a reason for her to play hero as well and walked rather nonchalant through the big cloud of dust. She pushed the dust out of her way and quickly saw it get pushed away by Mid as well, "I'm fine, though the Mining Guild might be missing a couple of workers from that sinkhole" commented Irolia as she walked past Mid and to the edge of the Sinkhole.

"Wonder what caused this?" said the blue Sith out loud more to herself than to Mid, leaning over the edge. The hole was almost pitch black a couple of hundred meters down, but strange-looking cliffsides formed and twisted like snakes down into the darkness. Something move down there, wait something moved? "Men get out here and bring me the thermal sensor" ordered Irolia motioning Mid to come over to the edge. "I swear I saw something move down in the darkness," told the Pantoran Mid and looked from Mid back into the sinkhole.

After a couple of minutes, arrived her squad of men which gave both Sith a quick salute, before walking the last bit to Irolia. "Ma'am," said the captain, giving Irolia the thermal sensors, a pair of goggles, one for Mid and herself. "Here, help me look," said Irolia and gave Mid his googles. The really off part about this was the fact that she felt anger, fear and a tidal wave of other primal emotions through the force down in the sinkhole. It was as if the Mining Guild disturbed some old with the drillings.

Looking down in the hole, she activated the thermal sensors and started to look around and that's when she saw it, which she most likely expected Mid to do as well if he put them on. I gigantic heat signature at the bottom of the sinkhole, "there's differently something down there" commented Irolia just as one of the foremen of the operations, along with the commander of the mercenaries arrived. "What is happening?" Asked the commander.

Irolia stood next to him, surprising him a bit. She walked up to the edge of the sinkhole and looked it over. Mid walked up and came to a halt next to her, dusting himself off and shaking sand out of his helmet. "The idiot probably didn't do their homework properly and built that facility on a weak spot. I've heard that Malastare has a fragile nature., quite ironically." he commented as he looked into the hole.

He looked around the camp when Irolia called out for a thermal scope. He looked back to her as she explained she saw something. "As in not some of the survivors or rubble?" he asked her. It sounded quite odd to have movement down there that is not any of the workers. The troopers brought the scopes and Mid looked through it, blinking when an enormous heat signature filled the scope. Mid felt the presence at the same time as Irolia. It was powerful and it was primal. It felt like an animal cornered or trapped.

"What is that?" he asked softly. He noticed survivors through the scope as well. The commanded of the mercenary approached and asked what was going on. "We spotted several survivors down there, but with no idea of what's going on we need to scout ahead. You stay put. Me and her can do that. Just get some ships ready to move when we say so." Mid ordered the man and he walked off to relay the news. He looked to Irolia and nodded for her to follow. "You felt the presence as well. It's old and it's big. We're the only ones who can navigate down there. So me and you will check it out and figure out what the hell is down there." he explained to her as they walked to a Guild ship.

In the ship Mid climbed into a AM-7 Adventurer and waited for Irolia to join before firing up and flying towards the sinkhole.

Me and her? Who did he think he was calling Irolia a her... She had a damn name and she would remember to punch Mid for calling her a her later. sat behind Mid as he navigated the AM-7 Adventurer from the base and towards the huge sinkhole. Looking out of the window of the Adventurer, it did surprise the blue Sith a bit on how large the sinkhole was and then how enormous the creature must be. She did wonder if the creature was the one who created that hole, there certainly existed large enough monsters in this universe to do such a thing.

As they descended into the sinkhole, turned Irolia the lights on as it got dark the further down they got. "I'm still feeling the creature, but not able to pinpoint where" commented Irolia as she reached out with the force. They descended more and more into darkness when Irolia felt it, "Left side!" yelled Irolia, but it was too late, the AM-7 Adventurer got slammed by something big, very big, causing the engine to fail and crash into the ground. Luckily they had polyweave safety belts on or the seer impact the front of the ship had with the ground would have sent them flying out of it.

"Kriffing hell" commented Irolia, releasing her safety belt and got up from her seat. Checking quickly for any damage, which there was none of, and exited the ship. It was really dark and faint light from the top was visible. She could hear the poor sods from the Mining Guild somewhere screaming, like they were being attacked by something big, most likely the creature. "Remind me why we went down here again," Asked Irolia Mid as she expected him to exit the vehicle as well.

They descended into the sinkhole and Irolia turned on the lights. Mid slowed down and wove through the debris and protruding rocks. Irolia mentioned feeling the creature and he gave a nod. It was strong. But the way he sensed it, it wasn't like it was far. It felt like it was more all around them...

"Left side!"

Mid banked hard right to try and dodge whatever it was, but it was too late. An enormous limb-like thing hit the side of the speeder and sent them down. They crashed in the ground and Mid's head bounced off the dashboard with a loud thud. He groaned as he sat back, clutching his head. "What was that?" he groaned. He unbuckled the seat belt and slumped in his seat. He tried to push open the canopy but when it didn't budge, he released a force push to send it flying off. He stumbled out and fell to one knee with a growl. His left knee ached and his back felt like he got folded like a camping chair but otherwise he was alright.

With a grunt he stood back up and regained his balance. He focused the force to ease the pain and allow him to focus on the task at hand. He looked at the speeder and sighed. "Speeder's gone." he commented. He limped over towards the direction of the screaming. He unclipped his lightsaber and ignited the crimson blade to flood the area in some light. In front of him was an enormous rock formation. "Bloody hell. Of course we'll crash behind the rubble instead of in front of it." he grumbled as he looked it over in search of a way around.

With no other way around he sighed and walked towards the formation to try and scale it out. All the while he could feel the enormous being was close. He looked all over for if but it was nowhere. Eventually he reached the top and stood right in front of a far drop down. Mid was getting really ticked off. "ARE YOU KARKING KIDDING ME?!" he shouted and spun his lightsaber in a reverse grip. He stabbed down in anger, but instead of sinking effortlessly into the ground...the blade stopped. Mid's anger swept away and turned into confusion. "What the..." he mumbled, then two glowing green eyes opened on either side of the drop he was standing on. A low groan erupted and the ground underneath him started to shake. He extinguished his lightsaber and grabbed hold of what looked like a protruding rock.

He was hanging onto the neck of the enormous beast...

A piercing screech echoed all around him and almost deafened him. The beast's head picked up and he held on for dear life. When its back straightened he let go and slid down its length until he hit the ground. He used the force to slow down but he still hit the ground with a grunt. "Irolia get to the speeder!" he shouted as he scrammed back to the speeder.

The screams hit a chilling crescendo then suddenly stopped when a thunderous crush of rocks shook the earth. Mid hopped into the pilot's seat and yanked the dashboard open. After looking for a few cables he found them and started to hot-wire the speeder. It started to sputter but didn't start. Two glowing green eyes suddenly shone on the two Sith high above them as the monster turned its attention to them. With one more try the speeder rumbled to life and Mid turned to Irolia. "Let's get out of here!" he shouted. Once she climbed in he would turn the speeder around and gun the engines before the creature's jaws could snap shut over them.

Following the crusader with her eyes, she saw him climb what they both assumed just to be rubble from the great Mining Guild buildings. Irolia even turned on her own lightsaber in order to actually see anything down there. "Something's off... I can feel the creature, but it's as if it's right here but not here," stated Irolia trying to pinpoint where exactly this damn beast was. It couldn't just disappear! It had been huge when they saw its heat signature, damnit, they should have taken the damn thermal binoculars along.

And that's when she felt a tremor in the ground, "what the kriff?" commented Irolia surprised, another sinkhole maybe? No... not quite. Standing at the ginormous rubble, looking up, she was about to crawl up to where Mid stood when she touched the flat surface of the so-call rubble and felt it vibrate, odd. Moving her lightsaber to the surface of the rubble and she realized it was actually a plate of armour of a sort. Unfortunately, she didn't get to examine it more, 'cause it started to shake and suddenly raise from the ground. "Oh, shab..." commented Irolia and looked up at Mid for that to hold on to his dear life at the neck by the beast.

Mid didn't have to tell her twice, she spaned around and shot for the speeder. Much would Irolia fight for the glory and fun of it, but this beast was enormous, almost city skyscraper huge. More times than Irolia would have liked did the beast get inches from completely crushing them either with its mouth or large limps. "Step on it!" Yelled Irolia as she tried to hit the great beast's eyes with her blaster, but the plate on the monster was too thick to penetrate for her blaster to do any damage.

However, they managed to shoot out of the giant sinkhole, right before being dinner. "Kriff yea!" yelled Irolia cheerful. Her cheer, however, faltered just as quickly as it had arrived. Enormous limbs, almost tentacle-like rose from the sinkhole, followed by the same shattering deep roar that Mid got near deaf by.

Mid saw the limbs coming to try and slap them out of the air, and started to weave and swing all over to dodge them as the monster tried to get them. Finally they cleared the sinkhole as the piercing screech filled the air. Mid aimed down and landed rather roughly in what's left of the camp. Thankfully all the ships were unharmed. He stumbled out of the speeder, grumbling all the way as he turned to look at the sinkhole.

"What have you done?!" a familiar voice called out behind him. He looked at the governor with burning golden eyes that almost shone through his visor. "Don't look at me, I'm not the cause of this!" he fired back, taking his helmet off to glare at the Dug. "It doesn't matter who's fault it is! You've doomed us all!" he stared right back at Mid, not flinching for a moment in front of the intimidating figure of the Pureblood. "That is a Zillo beast! It's hide is impenetrable and it's powerful enough to destroy entire cities!" he explained, then a screech interrupted him.

Mid looked to the hole then to the governor. "Then how do you plan to stop it?" Mid asked him irritably. "WE are going to stop it! You unleashed it, you kill it also." he corrected Mid much to his annoyance. "The fuel you've been refining is poisonous to it. Drown it, drop heavy payloads on it and hit it with everything we have." he said, then relayed orders to his men. "Once we have our artillery ready then you open the valves and fill that hole." he ordered then walked off to get everything ready.

"Well it's a plan at least." Mid said with a shrug. They started to scurry and get everything ready. Mid was also on board the Logos, getting ready to bombard the monster. The creature was staying put in the hole at least which gave them ample time to prepare.

Irolia followed suit and quickly got out of the damaged speeder, taking a couple of steps away from it. She clutched her lightsaber as she stared daggers at the Dug. Who did he think he was?! If had wasn't for his knowledge of the creature, she would have slaughtered him on the spot, in front of all his people. Irolia followed Mid into the Logos and pushed one of Mid's men aside who was preparing to get into one of the turrets, which Irolia took instead.

Over the comm relayed Irolia to Mid, "let's kill this thing" as she readied to turret gun. As the fuel got dumped into the hole, the Zillo beast released an intimidating screech as the fuel started to light up the sinkhole, filling it with gas from the fuel. "Ready when you are," told Irolia Mid, waiting for them to get into the air so she could shoot the damn thing.

And then something happened, one of the Mining Guild's smaller ships flew over the Logos right before it got up in the air. A loud explosion from the ship behind the Logos, followed by another screech from the Zillo beast, which now was now actually trying to crawl up the side of the sinkhole. It had already half of its size up from the hole, now throwing and crushing everything it saw.

Mid started the ship up and got ready to take off. The Dugs had rolled up a few odd rail launchers that hurled powerful bombs at the creature. It did a good job in keeping it in the hole but Mid could sense it was starting to get nervous. How powerful was that creature if it didn't even flinch or get hurt when a couple dozen bombs were dropped on it?

Pretty soon the valves were opened and the fuel was pumped into the hole. Suddenly the creature was enraged and terrified. They made it angry.

Mid's eyes went wide as he saw a ship get hurled past the Logos and exploded into the ground. He got the ship in the air and turned it around to stare right at the beast. The green mist of the fuel added to its intimidation and Mid would lie if he said he wasn't a little bit concerned. It slapped the Dug weapons away as if the several ton weapons were merely toys, causing Mid to reverse as one got a little close to the ship.

"Oh kriff..." Mid said flatly as his ship and the beast stared each other down. "Fide, fire!" he shouted and the ship lit up with cannon fire. The nose mounted medium cannons hurled rounds into its chest and the light cannons harassed it. But nothing was even hurting it. If anything, it was only getting angrier. "I am in awe of the size of this thing! Absolute unit!" Mid shouted in shock as he yanked the ship to the side to dodge another tank that was thrown at it.

This thing was starting to climb out of the hole and if they didn't do something to get it back into that hole or kill it...things might go very wrong for this operation.

As Mid took off from the ground, Irolia turned her turret directly at the creature and locked on. As Mid replied through comm, the blue Sith opened fire with the rest of Mid's crew. But to everyone's surprise, nothing seemed to work, "how the kriff are we suppose to kill this animal?!" yelled Irolia annoyed as she kept on lighting up the Zillo beast as much as she could. It only seemed to piss off the great beast even more and Irolia could just feel the enraged emotions radiating from it. "Any idea?" Asked Irolia Mid over the comm as she didn't really know what they were supposed to do.

The Dug tried their best and they did manage to keep it back a bit, but the Zilla beast just took two steps up every time it got pushed a step back. Then something hit her, "Mid, relay to the Dugs that they should aim for its mouth, the mouth seem to be the only place where it isn't protected!" commed Irolia to Mid from her turret as she kept on firing at the beast.

Irolia mentioned targeting the beast's mouth. It seemed to be the only weak part in its entire suit of natural armour. He did as she suggested and soon enough what was left of the Dug forces started to target its head. Mid also joined in on the fight and the Logos opened fire with its crosshairs on its head. With such a small target it really didn't do much...but all that firepower was having another effect.

The Zillo Beast started to stumble back. It was dangerously close to the sinkhole that was full enough with fuel to smother it as soon as it falls in. But it regained its footing just in time. It's mouth was smoking with a few shots having hit home but it was far from dead. They were running out of options.

A crazy idea came to Mid. "Everybody, strap in and hold on! This is gonna be risky!" he shouted into the comms. Him and the beast were staring each other down. It let out a screech and prepared to charge...and Mid answered by slamming the throttle forward. The Logos blasted forward and Mid angled the deflector shield to full-front as he was on a collision course with the beast's chest. He didn't flinch or chicken out, and in a few second the ship slammed into the beast's chest and sent it stumbling back and falling into the sinkhole. The beast let out a sickening screech from its chest being caved in, which turned to a hurricane of other emotions as it fell into the hole glowing bright green with fuel.

It thrashed and screeched, but it was unable to escape. After a few minutes it stopped struggling and disappeared under the fuel. It's presence in the force snuffed out and soon the field was silent, with only the Logos hovering in the air. Mid moved the ship and landed it. Its systems were screaming over hull integrity but it held up. When he landed he slumped back and his crew erupted in a cheer. He stood up and wandered towards the exit, looking for Irolia along the way. "Let's not come to Malastare again..." he said with a sigh.

It seemed to work, shooting at its mouth for a bit, but the Zillo Beast wasn't giving up and pushed forward, "it's not working!" yelled Irolia over the comm as she kept firing at the great beast's mouth. Most of the shots missed, which made it really problematic. And then Mid had that absolutely insane thought of kriffing ramming that monster. "What?! Are you out of your da~!" started Irolia to say but by that the Logo went full speed ahead, slamming into the Zillo beast like an angry bull.

Irolia held on to whatever she could, feeling a great pull when the ship rammed the Zilla Beast, making fall out of her seat and hit her shoulder. "I swear to god, these pure-bloods..." commented Irolia to herself in disbelief that Mid actually just rammed the much large beast and even more that it actually worked. The blue Sith crawled out and met Mid in the main room heading for the exit. Just as Mid finished talking, did he feel her a punch to his shoulder from Irolia, "are you out of your damn mind, that was reckless?!" Said Irolia and then hissed in pain as she hit something hard of his armour. "Motherkriffer!" Cursed Irolia, shaking her hand, jumping a bit on the floor 'cause of the pain. "Not. A. Word," hissed Irolia staring daggers at him.

Naturally Irolia was furious. But he didn't pay her any mind. She punched his shoulder as she scolded him, then instantly regretted it when she held her hand in pain. "Oh don't be so dramatic, I know what my ship can take." he said with a dismissive wave. She warned him not to say a word and he flashed her a smirk as he walked towards the exit.

Outside people were either cheering or trying to restore order to the camp. Thankfully they didn't need to worry about any of that. All they had to do was relax and let the Mining Guild fix up his ship (again) and they would be off. "Cheer up, Irolia." he said as he slung an arm around her neck. "We just need to fix up the ship...or have them fix it up, anyway...then tomorrow we'll be kicking back in neutral space because we need a new drinking hole." he said happily.

He had a feeling he might get a lightsaber through the chest before the day was over...

"Hmpf" huffed Irolia with crossed arms and jumped up on the Logos and disappeared out of view for Mid. The captain of Irolia's squad looked up after Irolia but just shrug and decided to walk back in to clean his weapon or anything else, while waiting for them to take off. The governor suddenly appeared by Mid, as if he came out of a portal or something of the sort. "The beast is defeated and the mining operation is on route again, but mark my word, the people of the Dugs won't forget how you and your mining people almost caused a crisis, Dugs have long memories" stated the governor, giving Mid a rather flippant attitude. The governor turned around and headed for his ship as the crisis was over. Reason for the governor's rude attitude towards Mid, was because he knew Mid and the Sith needed the Mining Guild and if anything were to happen to the governor, the mining operation would stop.

The repairs took most of the day and with absolutely nothing to do, it quickly got very boring while the Mining Guild repaired the Logos as a 'thank you' for helping with the beast. Mid ended up being correct, as he would suddenly feel the presence of Irolia coming at him and right after the sound of a lightsaber igniting. Irolia didn't even try to do it stealthily, sneak up on the Pure-blood, she just jumped him. However, she wasn't actively trying to kill Mid, but of course if Mid didn't defend himself, she would cut him down.

In truth Irolia just needed to blow off some steam and irritations and what better way to do it, than to fight a deadly battle with another Sith. Before both Sith knew it, was the ship repaired, but Irolia continued to fight Mid extremely aggressively and she didn't stop until both of them were completely exhausted. Irolia's squad carried the two tired Sith inside the Logos and soon they were off the planet and left its atmosphere and almost immediately after jumping to hyperspace.
