  • Sense - Beginner
  • Empathy - Beginner

Skills/Talents:
  • Excellent duelist
  • Politically fluent
  • Sharp mind

Lightsaber/Sword Forms:
  • Eald Family Traditional (Expert): A fencing style used by the Eald for millennia, focusing on finesse and the use of trickery and feints rather than outright superior swordsmanship.

Strengths: Smart, unconventional, a thorough understanding of politics and diplomacy. Quick learner and has no fear of death or injury.
Weaknesses: Withdrawn, emotionally unpredictable, damaged. Has little interest in anything, life not excepted. Confused and severely depressed.

Personality: Adelmar was once an aggressive, charming young man with little care for etiquette or the societal laws so emphasized by his culture. Since Melody's suicide, however, he's become shy and barely managed to hold on to sanity. He's prone to bouts of emotional instability, but so far this hasn't resulted in nor approached the point of violence. Passivity is now Adelmar's dominating characteristic, as he prefers to observe as opposed to interact.

Biography:
Faint clicking

"I read this might help. It probably won't, I know, the holonet isn't the best self-help medium, but I'm getting desperate. Really desperate. I just can't stop thinking about it... her... all the... about all of it. It's... hard to talk about. Really hard, but if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it like the instructions say. Right from the beginning.

"I was born here, on Calipsa, right in this bloody kriffing city. My father is Baron Adelmar Eald VI, my mother Baroness Insetrous Eald. I was born twenty years and two months ago in these very halls, on what was probably a stormy day. I don't know for sure, though, I've never asked. I've just always imagined it that way. Stormy, lightning strikes and thunder booms, that sort of thing. All very grand and depressing.

"Anyway, my childhood wasn't unique; I tended to my studies, made acquaintances, learned how to be a proper boy, to function in the veritable cesspit we Tapani have dubbed 'society.' If society is supposed to drag people down and transform them into nothing more than walking etiquette-books then we've done a damned fine job. How anything gets done here I don't know. Well, technically I do, but it's so idiotic and I'm not supposed to turn this recording into a rant against authority.

"So I grew. A 'fine young man' they called me on Procopia, lying through their teeth. I was not a 'fine young man.' I stole and cheated and pranked like no other. Had my father not been the great Baron Eald I probably would have found myself in someone's dungeons before my eighth birthday. That planet of stupidity only produced one decent thing, one decent thing... and now, well, now she's gone."

Sigh

"I was fifteen when we met, she thirteen. It was the Unification Gala. I never thought anything good would come of that party, filled with drunken nobles and bigots of all sorts. I remember I fought extra hard not to go that year, but my father was adamant about Capital Season. He still his, in fact. Like I said, though, I was fifteen, she was thirteen, standing by the buffet in a dress so flamboyant it practically screamed 'I'm a prissy, completely blank little doll.' But Chaos was she beautiful. So I, being fifteen, bored, and brimming with hormones, decided to take advantage of that last part. But she had a mind, I found. She had a mind and I had a mind, so, as you might imagine, we hit it off.

Chuckle

"Melody... that was her name. Melody. And she was so beautiful and smart and funny. And now she's dead. So dead. So drained and dull and...."

Pause; swallow

"Right, so her name was Melody. We clung together closer than anyone I've ever seen. Our families didn't like it, but we clung together anyway, maybe even more because of that. We talked about getting away. We would sit on my balcony and watch the factories spewing their smoke off in the distance, and we would talk about running away and we would talk about starting lives on Chandrila or Corellia, anyplace really. Anyplace outside the Tapani Sector.

"But something happened. I lost sight, I drifted away. Slowly, my father started giving me responsibilities, and after a few years I was practically running the armory. And Melody, she begged me to stop, to leave it all, but I'd lost sight. I... I...."

Sigh

"I'd lost sight. I had done exactly what everyone else did and what I had criticized and abhorred my entire life. Melody knew it. She knew we weren't leaving; I wasn't giving up what I had 'earned.' That's what I told her, what I 'earned.' A load of shavit, that. Nobles don't 'earn' a damned thing. We take from the commoners and we smile and we say we're successful, and we believe we're successful. That's the truly sad thing.

"But Melody didn't lose sight. She saw what I became and it disgusted her, and I responded like any spoiled Tapani noble would; I shouted, ranted, spit on her. I crushed... crushed her. Crushed her into the ground. I was merciless, and she was... she broke.

"I broke her.

"She left, and the next time I saw her....

Sob

"I can't do this. I can't...."

Pause; sniffing

"The next time I saw her she was dead. My Melody, her skull blown wide open, pieces everywhere. Everything... everywhere. But her face was perfect. Hurt, sad, pale, but... so perfect. And she was looking at me... staring... watching somehow. I know... I know it. I know because I was there, coming up the hallway when she did it. I felt it—her. She slid right out of her body and disappeared... but not completely. She was there for longer. Too short, but longer. And then she left, even as I tried to piece her back together, she left. She left broken.

"I broke her."

Pause

"There was a funeral. I didn't go. How do you go to the funeral of someone whose death is on your hands? I... couldn't. I couldn't. That was two months ago. That was the last time I saw the sun. Two-and-a-half since I saw Melody, two-and-a-half since she disappeared forever. And now what? What do I do? Do I sit here? Do I try to follow her? What do I do?

"Maybe she didn't disappear. Maybe she's out there somewhere, and I just can't see her. Maybe I can get her back, or maybe I can find her. I can't stay here, though. Melody escaped Tapani. I need to escape too."

I think this Jedi need to meet up with Joshua, together maybe they can find their place in the grand scheme of things, even though they both hold a lot of guilt. Well done character.
