DESCRIPTION
Aerokinesis, also known as Force wind, is a Force ability that permits a Jedi to generate, shape, and manipulate air for a variety of purposes. Because air is invisible, this Force ability is often confused with Telekinesis, the most common Force ability, but the two powers are in fact distinct.

Aerokinesis is a lesser-known school of Force abilities that permits the manipulation of the air itself. In many ways, it is more useful than telekinesis, as rather than targeting a specific person or object through the Force, the Jedi targets the air around them to attack or defend.

The most obvious uses of this technique allow the caster to create powerful gales or generate small cyclones, either around their targets, or in front of themselves, which can then be hurled at a target. This is particularly useful in kicking up sand, dirt, or other debris particles to create a smokescreen for a distraction—although powerful Jedi could use the ability to trap their target in a powerful vortex, capable of lifting objects (and people) off of the ground.

Jedi who were more knowledgeable and skilled with this technique could use it to quickly alter the air flow around projectiles, creating a gust of wind that could throw off the accuracy of a projectile attack. Such a use might not be effective against blaster bolts, but is useful against solid, physical projectiles, such as thrown lightsabers, spears, or debris.

The most powerful applications of this power were only known to the most skilled Masters of the technique. They could use the Force to purify the air around them, clearing it of harmful toxins before they breathed the air in, much like a respirator might. Others could use the Force to keep the air around them still, nullifying sound-based techniques, such as Force screams.

INTENT
To flesh out Force powers to comply with the site's new rules without a level system. This is a guideline and should not be used for rule lawyering. Credit to @Malon for portions of the original write-up.
