Hello everyone! I'm interested in starting a minor Diverse RP Superhero Story Arc. I used to help run a site (four score and a billion years ago) based on this premise and thought it would be fun to replay the story-line with any interested parties.
The main story line is thus:
Over the last one hundred years Super Humans have become more and more prevalent in the public eye. At first they were seen as freaks, leftovers from awful experiments carried out during the Second World War. Later it became apparent that these mutants were not failed experiments, but rather humans with mutated genes that gave them incredible powers. The popularity of these mutants has waxed and waned in the public eye. A Super would save a child from a runaway bus and the public would rejoice. Or, and more often, a super would kill, steal, and destroy, and the public would riot.
The current date see us at 2042. Supers have, for the most part, gone into hiding. There are very few who use their abilities openly and even fewer who aren't thrown into jail for "Endangering the Public". Pockets of Supers communes and villages have popped up around the world and are viewed by many as despicable and vile places. Many Supers however, choose to live life normally go to work like anyone else and enjoy life with a dark secret.
However, there is a dark force on the horizon. An image taken from a satellite and a recording that was leaked to the public. A reptilian species of unknown origins is on a collision course with earth. They seek nothing but total subjugation. The militaries have called on Supers everywhere to rejoin them to fight off the onslaught. Some did, most didn't. They fought off the dragons that came to their lands and did their best not to cringe while they watched the world burn around them.
It's been ten years since the dragons first landed. They've enslaved ninety percent of the earth's population and now they're going after the final ten percent. The Supers.
This will be a nine thread arc with a general outline below. This may change as the threads develop and the characters interact with the story.
1. Initial Invasion
2. Ten years later
3. Building the guard
4. Freeing the city
5. Military interdiction
6. Finding weakness
7. Freeing country
8. Pushing off world
9. Into the black
What I would like is to see just one or two people RP/NPC the dragons while the rest of us play Supers who have banded together to fight back. Some house rules:
1. This is going to largely be free form. If it falls within the genre, go for it.
2. Be realistic. I don't mind if you play a character with regeneration, but still have them feel pain and take a realistic amount of time for limbs to regrow and wounds to heal.
3. There will be a fifty word post minimum. I want to really be descriptive in our world, our actions, and our fights. And it may sound like a lot but fifty words can be typed out quickly and easily. This will also allow us to fully describe and "fill-in" our world. (51 words right there, so not as hard as you may think)
4. You can play super heroes that already exist but I would ask that you at least change their names. Also depending on the character they may have some weakness tacked on based on our custom rules for creating a character if they are deemed too powerful.
If we get 4-6 people interested I'll post a character sheet with info on how to select an appropriate number of strengths and weaknesses. Let me know if you're interested I hope to see this get off the ground.
