Akio was born as a third son of a prominent industrialist Maeda family from Trahal. The family long history of tradition affected his youth and upbringing as it affected Maedas before him. He was raised in the Way of Purity, a philosophy of his family. The first things he had to learn were respect for his betters, cold hearted calculation and unwavering obedience towards family interests. Like all his brothers someday he was to take care of the major part of the company, his oldest brother being raised for the head of the family, Akio was sought to take over the military and security grade equipment branch of the Maeda Koumuten Inc. That's why when he turned ten, Akio started to learn to shoot, ballistics and photonics with some basics of construction and development theory.
Maeda taught its sons to be competitive between each other, so when he was just seventeen Akio already knew how to spy on his brothers and had no problems doing that. For next two years he would learn many company secrets, like contract details for empire origined companies of which he didn't approve. His older brothers began to make deals with Oshuna contractors for military grade body enhancers and small arms hardware. These discoveries ment that his siblings were traitors to Confederation which if found out about could destroy whole family. Young Maeda didn't wait for it o happen and confronted his father. The older man wasn't surprised about what Akio had to say, he was more frustrated about the fact that Akio had that information in the first place. Turns out Maeda was making deals with the Empire for decades now, never big equipment but software and some crystals found on this part of the planet.
Akio was allowed to finish his law degree in Trahal but then was forced to leave the family business. He wasn't going to reveal the the connections between his family and Empire, because he still favored them over the Confederation. For a year he worked as legal counsel but due to his heritage the big companies weren't interested in him and the only clients he was able to get were simple citizens. The job wasn't fulfilling so Akio decided to join the military. His talents were quickly recognized and even his father trying to slow his career wasn't enough to keep him in land forces. At age of nineteen he was sent to officer school and graduated quickly after two years. At this point the military school successfully relieved him from concerns towards his family.
Quickly after he was assigned to intelligence command center, the Solephian Joint Government fell and The Fifth Civil War began. For six months the Confederation was taking heavy loses until Akio and his superiors decided that shattering the morale of the enemy could change the tides of this war. Akio used Maeda Koumuten Inc. supply lines to transport explosives to Oshuna. From there Confederation operatives distributed the charges to cells located all over the Empire lands. This way they had the upper hand. Akio was also in the team that planned the abduction of Emperor in Oshuna and was tasked with convincing the ruler to surrender his forces. By doing that he secured his promotion to Captain and received his own special ops unit. For the next two years he was using it to fight and infiltrate Imperial Resistance.
As a result of Akios actions the Maeda company was taken over by Confederation representatives and was made into main army provider. This made him unwilling to stay on his homeworld but due to small amount of starships on Solephus he still remains on the planet and is part of Ministry of War as Intel liaison in rank of Captain. He works with several paramilitary organization from other systems.

He became a stickler when it came to army rules, mostly because of duty than ethics. This means that even a brutal strategy if approved by his superiors is not going to be questioned. Akio isn't afraid to commit such acts himself, he doesn't shy away from violence to gather necessary intel.
In normal interaction he is very calm and quiet, doesn't talk unless he has to or is asked to. He is more of an obsever, thats why when faced with a problem Akio either deals with it from distance or makes other people do it for him.
