A porg infested hellscape, Ahch-To

"Staaaph!" Tahiri let out another scream as she pulled the little creature that was trying to nibble on her ear, holding the tiny thing in a small fist and glared at it. "Next one to bite me gets deep fried!" The little porglets that had surrounded her looked up, wide eyes staring up at her. She could almost sense recognition there. "You heard me, deep fried porg. I got myself a brand new air-frier, and it fries meat like a dream! Don't care how cute you are, I'll cook the lot of you!" They stared up at her for a moment, and then jumped right back to trying to get at the twin blades hanging at her waist.

Letting out a sigh, giving up on her dreams of being left alone, she turned to the Grandmaster, who had somehow managed to stay entirely unmolested by the porg menace as they walked towards their destination. "This is not what I signed up for," she muttered under her breath, not even noticing that she was absentmindedly stroking the porglet in her hand, "you said it might be dangerous, this is just..." She paused as she looked down at the porglet, having noticed its eyes on her. "No more biting." She let it go with that warning, only for it to scurry up her arm and perch itself atop her shoulder, where its attention was caught by the pin that held cloak in place. She glared at the gradnmaster, but continued walking without question, resigned to her fate.

Looking to track down another uneti tree, the Jedi had avoided the tried and tested path to the temple island, and instead landed on the other side of the planet, though what had made the grandmaster pick this island Tahiri could not tell. For now all she could see was that the island seemed to have an overabundance of porgs.

Find peace. You can find peace. The Force whispered in her ears, but the message was becoming harder to understand. What did it want from her? How could she serve when she did not know what to do. Alex had never wanted this. The title, the influence, the power. She spent most of her adult life avoiding all three. Her master was a wanderer and so she became a wanderer. It was only at Oren’s request that she returned from the Outer Rim. She could scarcely believe the path from that moment to this one. She had never wanted this…but who else could survive? No one.

The Grandmaster was shaken from her silent reprieve by the screeches of her young companion. Alex turned to see Tahiri beset by Porgs while they hiked. Laughter snorted out her nose. An unforced smile quickly appearing on her face. “Oh dear, Tahiri.” She chuckled again. “I should have better prepared you for the monstrous inhabitants of Ahch-To.” She turned back to the path and continued trudging on.

She had picked this island for a reason. The old Temple was legendary but had been searched before. The Force called them here. A symbol of their heritage…of their soul calling out. The Ordered need a lift in spirit and she hoped the uneti tree would be that lift. “You’re much younger than I am…you should be leaping up the path…far ahead of this old woman.” Alex turned and shot another grin.

“Tell me Tahiri. What have you learned of the uneti tree?” She cast her gaze along their path. Ahch-To was sparsely inhabited but not without danger. The Force flowed strongly and strangely on the ocean world. This would not be an easy journey.

"Come on," Tahiri replied almost instantly to the Grandmaster's comment about her being an old woman, "you're not that old. You don't look a day older than 30, a very hot 30 at that." She had seen how her own mother had started acting up as she aged, getting more and more paranoid about her looks. And while she didn't expect the Grandmaster of all people to be vain like that, she was sure a complement like that wouldn't hurt.

"Uhh, the uneti tree. Right." She waved a hand around her side to scatter some of the porgs, as she thought back on the homework she had been set to prepare for the trip to Ahch-To. "They are super rare, can live for a really long time, and are semi Force-sensitive? I read that in two separate records, but neither explained what that means. Like," she seemed genuinely confused as she looked at Alex as she continued, "how can a tree be Force-sensitive? Are they sentient? Maybe related to the Neti, is that why they're called the ooh-neti?"

Tahiri, wracking her brain to remember what else she had read in the archives, suddenly stopped as she noticed that the constant chirping of the porgs that had been accompanying them so far, had suddenly stopped. Even the one that had been trying to get at her brooch was gone. She looked back, and the entire lot of them was on the ground a few feet behind them, waiting behind some imaginary line that they seemed to not want to cross, and just staring at them. And each and every one of them, even the porglets, had fallen completely silent.

"That's not normal, is it?"

Alex shot Tahiri a withering stare. “I’m a hundred and ten.” She rolled her eyes. “Which means I am nearly 6 times your age.” Hot…a Padawan had called her hot. Alex blew confused air out her lips. “And yes, still hot.” She simply shook her head. What else could she do. “Although it is certainly not appropriate to comment on.” The Grandmaster could not help but laugh softly. Ahch-To did calm her nerves. A reminder of the woman she had once been.

Her feet continued to crunch into the ground as they walked. Tahiri reciting what she knew of the uneti tree. It seemed the instruction in the temples was severely lacking…or young Tahiri was not paying close enough attention. Alex opened her mouth to respond when she noticed the absence of the porgs. She turned slowly to join the young girl’s gaze. The Force quickly came to her fingertips. “No…it is not.” Her eyes swept across the craggy island. Nothing. Alex sent her senses spinning out in the Force. She was met with a painful clang. A grating against her mind.

A visible shudder passed through her body. “We need to keep going.” The Morellian Jedi turned to continue walking, resisting the urge to draw her saber. “Keep your mind sharp.” Well…she had been having fun. It was never meant to last. She turned one last time. “You’re with the Grandmaster, we’ll be fine.” She was always fine. Alex tipped her head skyward. The wind was suddenly blowing harder. Clouds darkening overhead. She frowned. Not good.
