"Desperation is the best substitution for morality,"

If you're expecting some long, flower monologue about how my parents died in a tragic speeder crash and how I went to be a Jedi and left because I was ever so emotional; kindly sod off. That'd just be ridiculous and I just can't bear idiocy. It just makes me so kriffin' mad!

It doesn't work like that in the real galaxy. I mean, of course there are a couple of special cases who are force-sensitive and whatnot, but I'm just an honest, run of the mill guy. Not even a Bounty Hunter! Well, I was born on Corellia, in a small farming community somewhere near the North. I tell you now, it was kriffin' freezing all yeah long, I have no idea how we grew a single crop! Well, as a young lad I used to help out around the farm, do odd jobs, help my father get in the crops. I lived with my mother, father, and sister. We were a real tight family unit, actually. We still are! I need to go and visit mother and father soon. Anyway, sister used to help out mom and cook our meals, knit and all that jazz. Me and dad used to do all the heavy, manual labour. I guess its' kinda sexist, thinkin' back on all the manly women I've met in the Navy...

But I digress! Life on Corellia was sweet, and to be quiet frank I didn't actually have any bigger ambitions; I was content just to stay on the beautiful farmland, marry a nice chick and sprout a few young 'uns of my own. I'd own my own farm, run my own shop, it'd be just grand. However, Corellia's market began to crash. My dad's farm was run out of business, and we were beginning to starve. Those were the worst times of my life, sitting in our quaint little house with my stomach a-rumbling just waiting for food to come, but it never did. Luckily, we all pulled through, but I heard of a couple of deaths in nearby towns. The crash left us real poor, but somehow my mother, father and sister all contributed money towards sending me off to University on Coruscant. I had two choices for courses, as the rest were all too expensive; Beauty Treatments for Amphibious Races or Navy Warfare. I'm either paintin' a squid's tentacles or getting blown up in space.

Of course, I took the Navy Warfare. Goes without sayin'! Not like I even considered the other one. Heh. Anyway, I had my bags packed for me, and a freighter came and picked me up the next day! Didn't even get to say goodbye to my friends, sadly enough. Not that I'd never see them again, o' course. Anyway, I arrived on Coruscant. I loved it there, actually. All the glitz and glam, with a helpful dollop of shady filth stirred in for good measure. I stayed on track though, I wanted a good life as much as my family wanted one for me.

Took me eight years, but by gum I passed with flying colours! Off I went, into the big wide world aged just twenty-seven as a junior navy commander. I applied with the Republic Navy first, but I didn't like what I saw. The Alsakan Crisis left them badly equipped and empty of cadets. Basically, signing up with them was a death sentence should the need arrive for war. I floated around the galaxy a lot, and ended up on Nar Shaddaa - which was basically somethin' of a downgrade from Coruscant. It orbited this big, swampy planet inhabited by a race of giant slugs, as far as I could gather. They seemed like a formidable peoples, but talk was starting to spread through Nar Shaddaa's underworld of the slugs getting ready for war with the Republic! Apparently, the Republic was encroaching on the Hutt's systems. Just in their nature, to be honest.

So I signed up, bringing my diploma with me and everything. They put me in as a Line Captain - in charge of four ships. Great news, as the pay was more than adequate, and I got to command ships; real ships. I never told my parents about which side I joined in the war, though, it'd break their little hearts. Soon enough, all out war was declared. People rushed to pick a side, whilst I prepared my men and the four ships I commanded for battle!

It's been a year, and I haven't seen any action. But now, I've been moved up to the frontlines. I'm putting my life in danger for a cause I don't even slightly understand. I've always been one for a bit of danger, but kriff, if I die, it'll be in a blaze of glory and brilliant last words. As far as I understand, the Hutts are just some little businessmen with controversial allies bein' pushed around by the big bully that's the 'Galactic' Republic. I'm a hot-head, granted, and I'm here to get stuff done in this war. Maybe one day I'll settle down with a nice wife and kids, with a beautiful pension on Corellia. Or Naboo; I heard Naboo is nice. Neutral, too, which would be a plus.

I'm just your average Joe, and that don't seem so average anymore.
