Facing towards the mirror, Jaikus ran his fingers through his dark hair a few times - fixing every strand back into place. It was the faintest sigh that the Axxilan was ever-so-slightly stressed, eagerly anticipating the meeting on Nubia just ahead of them. It had been years since he had played the role of a Diplomat - not since his life as Wraith - but that was precisely what he intended to do now. He was dressed in a slim suit and tie - an Amethyst broach pinned to his lapel.

For weeks, Jaikus had watched as members of the Consortium government - his husband included - kicked into overdrive. Secessionist movements had started to appear across the Consortium, and the government had stepped in hopes of putting much of those sentiments to bed. It was a matter of paramount importance, and it meant that the Axxilan couldn’t afford to sit on the sidelines either.

His entire family was busy as a rule of thumb. In addition to his occasional lectures, the Axxilan was CEO of Atlos - a company that has grown to be mildly successful and steady on its own. His role as First Gentleman was largely ceremonial and initiative-based, where Jaikus primarily focused on pushing educational initiated in the impoverished Rim. His trip to Nubia, however, was easily the most important thing he’d done so far.

The Consortium was Emryc’s life work. It was their home - and the place where his family was raised. And Jaikus would defend it with all of his ability.

“You ready?” He called out to Tiamat somewhere else on the ship. Jaikus had asked the woman to accompany him for the negotiations, knowing her expertise would appeal to the shipyard-invested government of Nubia. More importantly, she was someone that Jaikus trusted. She had abandoned the Sith rather than fight against their family, and had firmly stated where her loyalty belonged. It was a sentiment that he didn’t take lightly, and something he had thanked Tiamat for privately.

They had their work cut out for them. But Jaikus was confident in their ability to see the negotiations through.

There was a sense of relief and freedom the woman experienced after separating herself from the Empire and the Sith. Not only did she fell it was the right decision for those she care about, but in a way, she felt she had outgrown what they had to offer her. She had built herself with the foundations of sith tenets, adhering to the values that best served herself in a galaxy that was hellbent on falling back into the chaos from which it started. It wasn't to say she was completely separated from the life she walked away from, the scars of deeper things remained, and she still valued her strength and she would continue to climb regardless of how her path takes her there.

Tia had heard about the succession movements across the ISC and felt more annoyed than surprised they were stirring up political drama. Corellia especially did not surprise her, as a native herself, she knew how Corellia could be in the worse of times. When Jai had contacted her to assist in negotiations, Tiamat did not hesitate to go; she knew the importance of this meeting with Nubia. She was well ready before Jai had called out to her, in fact, she had started to regress to more relaxed attire as she had already slipped out of her heels and had pinned back her hair to keep it out of her face. She scrolled through the latest holonet gossip on the latest reality love shows, "Been ready for a while..." she said with a smirk, quickly putting her heels back on and shutting off her holopad.

The woman double checked her make-up in a mirror she brought along and smoothed out her blouse and skirt before letting her red hair back down. "Do you think if they like us enough, they'd give us one of their sleek Nubian ships." Tiamat hummed.

Jaikus straightened his tie ever-so-slightly - conducting that last bit of preening before they arrived. The Eclipse was being guided by a pilot droid - beginning their slow descent towards the spaceport below. Through the viewport windows, they would clearly be able to see the pristine and rolling landscapes of Nubia, coupled with sleek spires of white stone that rose from urban centers. It was a beautiful planet to behold, in addition to the strategic value it held.

“One can certainly hope,” Jaikus said in response, flashing Tiamat a friendly smirk. Leaving on good terms and with a parting gift was - admittedly - among the best outcomes they could hope for.

“I can’t imagine some of them will be too happy to see us, though,” He added with a bit of a huff. “I hear at least some of the ruling council are firmly aligned with the secessionist movement.” It would be their job to convince the majority against making an exit from the Consortium, and it would largely depend on giving them decent enough incentives to stay. “The Shipwright’s Guild and Agrarian Union both hold equal seats on the Council. From what I understand, they frequently clash on land development projects across Nubia.” The former of which groups, Jaikus hoped that Tiamat could appeal to.

“Worst case, they tell us to fuck off and continue what they were already planning on doing.”

As their yacht touched down into the spaceport, Jaikus extended an arm towards Tiamat - flashing her a charming smile. “Shall we?” He jutted his chin towards the ramp, and towards the cluster of rather snooty-looking individuals nestled a few paces from the base of that ramp, approaching from deeper in the spaceport.

Tia imagined one of their nubian ships with one of her engines attached, it nearly gave her chills to think about such a stellar design. Her attention returned to present and away from daydreams of ships when Jai mentioned the ruling council. Internally the woman frowned, convincing one person was simple, but a divided council, there was a shared uncertainty with her friend as he indicated the worse outcome, telling them to just fuck off. Hopefully, that was not the case given they were allowed to land on their world. Though, humoring herself for a moment, that would be the ultimate petty send-off.

Luckily with half the council being familiar with ship building, she hoped to ease their way into the other side of the council, to find a common ground. Surely everyone wanted what was best, if not, deviated from such meant there was something else happening or someone else pulling strings in such situations. However, she would trust Jai's input, this was still ISC territory and he and his husband probably knew what the Nubians sought in this meeting.

Tiamat gently took Jaikus' arm as he directed their attention to exiting the ship as the ramp had lowered, "Let's see if we can't make this a good drinking story later at the very least." she said putting on her charmed grin she had been practicing with lately as she met with officials and other politicians.

“To be quite honest,” Jaikus began, glancing over as Tiamat took his arm. “I’m pretty sure our adventure to Kamino is the best drinking story we’ll ever get.” The Axxilan quipped - flashing the redhead a shit-eating grin. It was disgusting and awful - even if the technology acquired made it all worth it in the end. It was a story they’d relayed on multiple occasions to a germaphobe Emryc, much to the half-Sephi’s stoic horror. There was no small part of the Axxilan that hoped that diplomatic negotiations on Nubia would prove to be entirely uninteresting and run-of-the-mill.

In the years he’d spend as First Gentleman, Jaikus had attended a multitude of summits and dinners - and smooth sailing was never more important than that moment.

As they stepped down the ramp of Jaikus’ transport, they were quietly surrounded by the security escort that had been assigned for them. The state-of-the-art Blackwell Droids traveled in Starfighters that flanked them the entire journey through Hyperspace, and formed ranks around the pair as they advanced from the spaceport to the government building just ahead. Nubia was still a hotbed for secessionist activity. The arrival of two important Consortium figures warranted just.. A bit more security than usual.

They were led towards a sleek structure within Nubia’s government district - where an assembly of soldiers and politicians was already waiting for them. Men at arms were dressed in ceremonial, knight uniforms - and politicians similarly were adorned in robes and tunics of white, coupled with chromium jewelry that decorated their necks, wrists and arms. It was no secret that the people of Nubia took great pride in the design and style of their homeworld, taking influence in everything from architecture to fashion.

Upon getting close, six individuals stepped up from the front - clearly the leaders from the bunch. Each of them seemed to wear the same, somewhat irritated expression. It was clear from the get-go that the arrival of a Consortium convoy wasn’t the most welcome thing on Nubia these days. Nevertheless, it didn’t prevent Jaikus from greeting each with a smile.

“Councilors,” He said, greeting the collected members of the Federal Council. “It is a pleasure to meet you in person here on Nubia. Thank you for agreeing to this summit,” The Axxilan began in a singsong tone, his smile warm and diplomatic - practiced to a T.

Of course, it didn’t exactly elicit a warm response from those assembled. “First Gentleman Thorne,” The elderly woman began, hands clasped in front of her. “Welcome to Nubia. We hope that your journey was swift and pleasant - albeit many of us here are surprised of its occurrence.” She offered a hollow smile. “The needs of our planet have hardly been a priority for Consortium attention - let alone diplomatic visit.”

Her gaze promptly turned Tiamat, softening at once. Rather than the formal and closed-off greeting offered to Jaikus, a hand was extended to the redhead. “Ms. Asteria,” She began, “It is a pleasure to welcome someone of your esteem to Nubia as well. Your work is rather legendary here.” It was no secret that Nubians were rather obsessed with their starships and design, and Tiamat’s own research was something that was greatly admired.

“Shall we head inside?”

Tiamat immediately noticed the annoyed and stoic looks they received as they approached the Nubian officials. Regardless of their less-than-amused looks, the woman kept to her façade of businesswoman and now diplomat. Jaikus spoke first, a small smile crossing her own features as he kept the introductions short; she didn't speak yet, letting his words sizzle upon the annoyed bunch across from them. Internally, Tia whispered a hushed yikes as the elderly woman seemed to have a Nubian ship jammed so far up her -

Her thoughts paused as she seemed to lighten up as her attention turned the red haired woman, which surprised her, but did not surprise her at the same time. They liked her work, and Tiamat gently took the woman's hand, clasping her free palm on top to squeeze it gently, "Thank you, your ships here are works of art. Anyone who sees them in the galaxy, recognize where they come from immediately." she said.

"But what many of the public doesn't see is the other resources you offer, including Industrial Automation for our droid parts, and too important, PharmCorp., which seems to be overlooked in importance by the greater galaxy in medicinal supplies." Tia added, "Bacta is important, but we can't do much with it if we don't have technology from places like PharmCorp to get it transported and to have other necessary medical supplies to save lives."
