Born to wealthy parents who lived in the upper sections of the Uscru District on Coruscant, Alym Marr had about as close to an idyllic childhood as one could ask for. Both of her parents - father, an entrepreneur and mother, a lower level member of the Coruscanti government - were loving and attentive, and went out of their way to make sure Alym had anything she would need to find success in any potential endeavor.

During her schooling, Alym excelled in most fields of academia she threw herself into. Top marks came easy to her even without much study, though she did have trouble making and maintaining relationships - whether they were platonic or romantic didn't make much of a difference. Shortly before Alym was to graduate high school, she was approached by a friend of her parents - they described him as a wanderer, but it wouldn't take long before Alym would come to know him as a Jedi.

Her force sensitivity was noticed immediately by the Jedi, a man named Caleb Vyrk. Caleb approached Alym's parents about her joining the Order and training to become a Jedi herself, though they responded with what can only be called... aggressive reservation. Alym on the other hand, feeling no real ties to her home or her family, jumped at the opportunity for something that might actually challenge her and give a real sense of accomplishment.

Alym trained under Caleb for several years before eventually being Knighted herself. After some time as a knight, Alym was eventually recruited into the Jedi Shadows.
