Name
: Amfar

Coordinates: O-8

Hyperlane
: Perlemian Trade Route

Climate
: Tropical for most of the planet, with the climate becoming more temperate above 50 degrees latitude. The planet experiences a rainy and dry season, with Summers experiencing monsoonal rainstorms while the Winters are sunny and dry. Since seasons are reversed across the equator, half the planet is usually pleasant while the other half is wet.

Terrain:
Amfar is an aquatic planet, with over 90% of the planet covered by an immense sea. The remaining 10% of the planet is broken up between 8 small continents scattered fairly disparately form each other. Continents vary in size, but are usually flat or hilly, with no true mountain range existing on the planet. A tropical paradise, the interiors of these continents are heavily forested with thick jungles, which end at thick white beaches dotted with the occasional palm tree.

Rotation
: Amfar rotates once every 26 hours. Due to the moderate tilt of the planet's axis, day length changes with the season.

Inhabitants
: Humans are the dominant species on the planet. Alien sentient species are limited in number, and mainly work menial labor at tourist resorts. The oceans are teeming with native fish, the most famous of which is the Redfish, which is harvested in large numbers and exported offworld.

Resources
: Amfar is a relatively resource-poor planet, which necessitates a high level of imports to run local manufacturing at any sort of elevated levels.

Government
: The Amfar government is a federation between 8 quasi-independent entities which have each gained complete control over a continent. These nations have varying political systems, ranging from democracies to queendoms. While largely in charge of domestic affairs, the main parliament makes laws that affect the entire planet, most notably environmental policies, foreign relations, and planetary defense. While all continents have a say in the parliament, the body is de facto controlled by the three most powerful continents, Amaza, Gilla, and Kanna. A planetary prime minister is the official head of state for the world, and is elected by the delegates of the Amfar Federation. The planet is a constituent member of the Galactic Republic, with two senators and six representatives representing the world in the Senate.

Culture:
A planet of immigrants, Amfar is home to a wide variety of cultures and religions, although unified cultures have begun to coalesce on the individual continents. Amaza and Gilla are infamous for their strict matriarchal familial and governmental control. Kanna has a martial tradition that leads them to provide the highest number of soldiers for planetary defense, and won them glory in the 100 year war. Dida and Kahila are famous for their maritime pursuits, and many of their people become fishermen. The remaining continents contain the vast majority of resorts and the best beaches, and the people give the impression of leading a very happy and festive life.

Sights and Locations:
Amaza: Northern continent with poor beaches, the Amazans turned to the highlands for their tourist goals. Temperate and forested, tourists unaccustomed to the heat can still have a good time. Amaza also has some of the richest mineral deposits on the planet, and is the second most industrialized of the continents.
[*]Queen's Palace
[*]Gar Gara- Tallest peak on Amfar

Dida: Located in the northern hemisphere close to the tropics, the best beaches of Dida lay on their northeastern coasts, and are very popular with tourists. The cities are known for their extensive harbors, and sailing and fishing ships of all sizes and colors clog the waters. Cruise ships and luxury yachts are also a common sight in Didan waters. The southern part of the continent is a broad flatland with scenic mesas dotting the landscape, and is home to many famous podracing courses.
[*]Uta Harbor- Largest maritime harbor on the planet
[*]Uta Fish Market
[*]Katarga Sporting Arena and Racetrack
[*]Katarga Spaceport

Gilla: The continent farthest to the north, tourism is almost non-existent. Gilla instead supports its economy with banking, mining and manufacturing, farming, and other high tech industry.
[*]Queen's compound
[*]Gillez Corporation

Kahila: Just south of the equator, Kahila is hot and dry. Apart from the northern coasts of the continent, most land is covered in rocky desert with shifting sand dunes. The habitable areas are centered around a large bay with calm waters and wide beaches. Megayahts and repulsorsailors of the rich and famous are often docked in Kanchella harbor. The city of Beja is noted for its waterfront with sandstone mansions, high end shops and restaurants, luxury resorts, and wide boulevards lined with tall palm trees.
[*]Kenchella Harbor
[*]Kenchella Spaceport
[*]Dejana Desert and Wildlife Preserve
[*]Beja Beach and Resort with the famous Palm Avenue

Kanna: Located south of the equator on the opposite side of the globe from Kahila, Kanna is the largest and most populated continent on Amfar, Kanna serves as the de facto planetary capital. Most flights from off-planet go through customs in Monasta before traveling around the world. Kanna also has more beaches and a larger tourism industry than any continent besides Bora. Large coastal cities are known for their nightlife, and flashy hotels and mega casinos are prominent parts of most skylines. The beaches are smooth, although the sand is noticeably darker than on many other continents. Moving inwards, a think jungle covers much of the continent, and is popular with biologists and ecotourists alike. Much of the continent is off limits, as large military bases house pretty much the entirety of the planetary defense forces.
[*]Amfar Federation Headquarters
[*]Monasta Spaceport-Largest travel hub on Amfar
[*]Jeraba Beach and Hotel Strip
[*]Susa Casino
[*]Mahada Temple
[*]Hamrata Jungle and Nature Preserve

Guda: The farthest south of the continents, Guda has chosen history over scenery for their tourist pursuits. Adisa and Hara are some of the first cities on Amfar, and the city centers are remarkably well preserved. Open markets and stone masonry draw in many tourists who do not want the fast paced beach lifestyle. The city of Hara has taken on a sort of holy mystique, and hundreds of faiths and denominations have taken to building temples and shrines in the city center.
[*]Old City of Adisa
[*]Old City of Hara
[*]Adisa Spaceport
[*]Hara Religious Complex-Home to over 100 different temples

Bora: Sitting directly on the equator, Bora is flat and wet, with the coast cut out by enormous shallow lagoons with calm, bright blue waters. It is a veritable paradise. Small skiffs and flying boats are the customary means of transportation, as many of the hotels are built right over the water. Known for natural beauty, exceptional service, and a wide variety of activities available, Boran vacations are limited to only those of wealth.
[*]Bora Stilt Hotels-Bungalows on stilts over shallow lagoons
[*]Ana Reef-Popular scuba diving site
[*]Pahia Beach-Known for especially white sand
[*]Motuta Resort and Casino-Most respected and expensive resort on the planet

Diha: Much like Kahila, Diha is almost entirely a desert. Settlements on the continent are centered around the Qa Sea, also known as the Sea of Blue Glass due to the glass-wall skyscrapers that line the shores. The waters are exceptionally warm, making them popular with scuba divers. Quta City has some of the best nightlife on the planet, even reportedly beating out Kannan clubs.
[*]Qa Sporting Complex and Grand Prix
[*]Qanata Diving Lagoon-Popular with scuba divers and pearl farmers
[*]Quta Lagoon-Night life neighborhood

Technology:
Technology in the major resort areas is fully up to galactic standard in order to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. The continent of Gilla is home to the Gillez Corporation, which constructs fairly advanced military and civilian spacecraft.

Satellites
: Amfar is a planet in the Amfar system, and has no satellites.

History
: Amfar was settled by successive groups of colonists starting roughly 3000 years ago. Led by prominent families and colonization corporations, all 8 continents of the planet had established cities within 600 years. The early planetary economy was based on agriculture, fishing, and forestry, but as galactic wealth moved outwards from the core worlds, the planet quickly became known as a tropical paradise. Hotels and resorts were built on most of the continents as fast as possible, and the planet was soon dominated by the tourist trade.

The 100 year war led to the planet being on the virtual front lines of the conflict. In the northeastern sector of the Inner Rim, located along one of the most important hyperspace lanes, the planet became a major staging ground for Republic forces. Hotels and resorts were converted to barracks, jungles were cut down to make room for army bases and planetary defensive structures, and munitions plants were built and expanded on many of the continents. Luckily, the planet was spared from any attack or space battle. As the exiles were pushed back into the Outer Rim, a sense of normalcy returned.

With over a decade of peace, the planet has taken extensive steps to return its tourism-based economy. Most of the heavy industry that supported the war effort has closed, and jungles have begun reclaiming the military infrastructure. Resorts and hotels quickly re-opened, along with massive commercial spaceports used to bring in tourists and all the luxuries they are accustomed to.

Intent: I am seeking to take Amfar from legends and bring it into our timeline. Amfar will primarily be a planet that supports tropical vacations and the storylines that surround them. While it has a similar geography and climate to canon planets like Scarif, this is the only one that has a significant resort backstory in the extended universe. Storylines taking place on this world can range anywhere from a romantic getaway between characters to a murder mystery to a fishing trip. Since everything about this planet makes it easy for people to arrive, I figure every character can show up if they so desire. Amfar will also be the headquarters and manufacturing base of the Gillez Corporation, so anyone wishing to design, purchase, steal, or acquire via sordid means a vehicle through them will need to come to Amfar to actually roleplay that out.

I like the idea of it being a resort world. I suggest adding more in the government and culture. More I would like to see of too, are popular locations.

I will also speak to Arc about Gillez, however, if Gillez doesn't get approved, then I can still ok Amfar as a resort world.

I've added on a bit, but to be honest, there isn't a whole lot of culture to expound on. Just imagine a mash up of Tahiti, Dubai, and the French Riviera.

So why would a world with no valuable resources be used to produce military/space vessels? Wouldn't that be extremely costly to consistently import product? I don't think that would make much business sense.

There are some resources, mainly localized on two of the continents (Gilla and Amaza, stated in the write up above), and that was enough to run the pre-war industry. When war breaks out and you need to ramp up production, importing large amounts of raw materials gives a company an excuse to drastically jack up their prices, if you catch my drift *wink* *wink*. I'm talking about war profiteering. As long as your quality can justify the price, people will keep buying, giving you time to optimize your import and export functions. Having extraordinarily convoluted supply lines is nothing new. Seeing how they get the airplane sections of the A380 together is enough to drive a person mad.
