Ask Among the Flowers

Since Starlight Beacon had been restored, Adanell had been spending most of his time here. The station was full of different sections that were perfect to be explored. It was impressive how the engineers were able to gather so many places inside only one structure.

From everything that Starlight had to offer, Adanell’s favorite place was the biosphere zone. It was filled with plants from different planets, including some from his own homeworld. Among those was an entire patch of red Pom Blodau. They were exactly the same flower that grew in the fields next to his house in Annwfyn. He liked to seed below a nearby golden tree, to look at the red carpet formed by the plants.

It was exactly what the Annfyn was doing at the moment. He was seated under the tree, which golden leaves moved slowly due to the artificial breeze that originated from the system that maintained the atmosphere inside the biosphere. In front of him, the Pom Blodau flowers colored the grass with its red colors.

The Annfyn had his legs crossed, with his harp being supported by them. His fingers moved through the strings of the instrument, generating nostalgic music. This entire place made him nostalgic for his home, even if he would never admit it.

Marcus had only just arrived on Starlight Beacon, but he was already getting used to the environment. Obviously it wasnt his first time on the station, and to be honest, there wasnt a place he'd rather be. Cassus was dressed in the traditional robes of a Jedi, their bright silver fabric adorned with the iconic belt and lightsaber hilt. His lightsabers, symbols of his duty and his connection to the Force, hung from his side. As he walked, he couldn't help but feel the weight of his responsibilities as an Assistant Instructor. The thought of molding the minds of young Padawans filled him with both excitement and trepidation.

The students he was to mentor were the future of the Jedi Order, and Cassus knew that the lessons he imparted would shape the destinies of these young Padawans. He was determined to instill in them the Jedi Code, the principles of compassion, self-discipline, and the importance of protecting the galaxy from the forces of darkness.

Of course, the recently appointed Jedi Knight still had much to learn, as the path to becoming a fully fledged academy instructor and justicar was a very daunting one, though one he would achieve nonetheless. He wanted to make it his role to help guide the future generations of Jedi.

As he reached the heart of the garden, Cassus saw a group of Padawans walking beneath the towering trees. Cassus approached one Knight silently, not wanting to disturb his moment. As he saw his fingers glide across the harp, Cassus watched in wonder. Moving towards a tree, he leaned against it and continued admiring the pleasant music emitting from the harp.

Adanell was lost in his music. He closed his eyes, wanting to only think about the sound that was coming out from his harp. Right now, the Annfyn could easily think that he was back in the gardens of his home in Annwfyn, with the hills covered by red flowers.

He was so distracted that didn’t even notice that he was being watched. This piece in particular had been written by himself with the help of his father, which musical talents outclassed him enormously. They had worked on it together during a spring day and it was a homage to the first day of this season, when the winter’s snow starts to melt and the grass begins to appear again from below its cover.

Due to that, it suited perfectly for a garden like this one.

When he finished his music, the Annfyn opened his eyes. He immediately felt a presence on his side and immediately turned to look at it. The Annfyn saw another Jedi Knight leaning against a nearby tree. “Hello there! Had you been there for much time?” he said, a big smile appearing on my lips. Then he remebered that he didn't present himself. “I’m Adanell. What is your name?”

As Marcus watched the knight finish, he couldn't help but admire the peace and serenity surrounding him. If only I could get an ounce of peace and quiet. But no, his studies and training demanded the opposite. As the music came to an end, he felt himself zone out in thought, though the sudden lack of it brought him back to the present,

"Oh trust me, waiting wasn't an issue." He said with a grin, "pleasure to meet you Adanell, I'm Marcus." As he bowed his head in greeting, he took a moment to examine the garden to Starlight Beacon, it certainly was quite a sight, one that Marcus wished he had visited more often in the past.

"So Adanell, what brings you out to the gardens on this fine day." A smirk spreading across his face as he stood up from his tree, and made his way over to the Jedi Knight.

”It’s a pleasure to meet you, Marcus.” Adanell said, before removing the harp from his lap and placing it on the grass next to him. The human’s question made the Annfyn smile. He turned to look at the flowers growing among the grass in front of them. “These are Plom Blodau flowers, they grow in the front of my home in Annwfyn.”

“Being honest, my family is named after them.” the Annfyn laughed a bit, he always thought that it was funny how the noble houses of Annwfyn had decided to name themselves after things. Ileaud as the moon, Cyfnos as the dusk and many others. Some of them even had personalities similar to these things.

“Don’t you want to sit here with me? We could appreciate the flowers together.” the Annfyn gestured for an empty place next to him. Once Marcus had sat here Adanell would close his eyes and lean against the tree behind him. “It is really a fine day.” he said, staying this way for some moments.

A smile would appear at his lips, while he slowly opened his eyes. “What brought you to the gardens today, Marcus?” now it was his time to ask the questions. “Did you want to see the plants too?”

Marcus was intrigued by the interesting fact regarding the Plom Blodau flowers, though he couldn't say he was familiar with them. Though he did know of Annwfyn, perhaps he'd visit it one day. Moving to sit beside Adanell after his offer, he examined the various flowers surrounding them. "The flowers truly are magnificent." Glancing over to his newfound companion, he had to agree with him. "Indeed it is, what a day to just relax."

As he tried to concentrate on his surroundings in hopes of truly appreciating his surroundings, a smirk came upon his face at question from Adanell. "Well Im sure you know how it is, need a break from my studies and helping teach at the academy." Though no one would ever hear him admit it, he almost enjoyed teaching the young initiates of the order, the next generation of guardians, though that didn't mean they weren't a pain in the ass sometimes.

"Of course now that Im hear, the plants are well worth the visit." Leaning back again against the tree, he could almost forget about the busy schedule of studies and instructing that had dominated his recent weeks. Damn, I really do need a vacation huh. Of course it wasn't like he was a proper instructor at the academy, he was just helping out until he had finished his training and been officiated as such. "And as for you, what warrants such a nice and relaxing day, playing your harp?"

”Ah, teaching. A noble and difficult task.” Adanell would occasionally teach the Younglings, mostly when it was something that involved nature or going outside the Starlight. He loved chaperoning their trips to other planets, it gave him the opportunity to see new places and plants.

“Perhaps you should bring them here. I believe that a class on the gardens would be more appreciated by them. They would have the opportunity to relax.” the Annfyn closed his eyes, feeling another breeze against his face. His hair would move with it and for a moment, the Jedi thought that he forgot that this place was inside a space station.

Opening his eyes, he turned to look at Marcus. “The plants are always worth visiting. We can see their beauty and even eat some fruits.” he pointed to some Padawans that were collecting some berries in a bush. “I come here whenever I have some free time. Sometimes I play with my harp, others I only stay here relaxing or meditating.” he reclined against the tree, once again closing his eyes.

“Marcus, is there any plant from where you came from?” Adanell asked, while his hands moved to pick his harp. Once it was back on his lap, the Knight’s fingers moved through its strings and a different music started.
