Hey all, I'm a new member of the SWRP and I'm here to introduce myself.

I haven't roleplayed since MSN groups was shut down, but I'm a grown adult now and I'm sure I'll get much more out of it at this point.

My biggest concern for joining in on the role playing is my knowledge of the SW universe. See, I am a very new fan of the series. I got into it through The Force Awakens (I've watched ep 4, 5, 6, and 1 since) and I enjoyed The Force Unleashed. Although I prefer the Jedi as an organization, my favorite character thus far is the darksider Kylo Ren, because it's interesting that he's Han's son with such a determination to be a powerful darksider, his emotions are interesting, and his lightsaber is super tight.

With my relatively miniscule knowledge on the universe, I call to the veterans of this forum to advise me on some things. I want to know the best way to formulate my 2 (and perhaps 3 in the future) characters. From what I understand, it's only allowed that you have one character in a main faction due to the fact that the factions are at war and simply put, one side should be chosen for which you want to support. I intend to have a benevolent solo character as my first, and a Sith as my second. But here's where the questions come in.

As someone with low knowledge, I want a character(s) who realistically also has little knowledge on the universe. Something similar to Rey from TFA, in the sense that she didn't know much about the galaxy or the force, and what she did know she couldn't discern from truth or rumor. I want advice on a realistic origin for not only my solo heroic character, but possibly my Sith as well, with regard to home planet and upbringing.

It should be noted that I have the general motives of my characters decided. For the first I want a character with a double life (similar to a super hero), who holds a regular job with their public persona, but is some kind of artist and fighter under their masked persona, with the goal of balancing the two lives, and through their masked persona becoming a public figure of benevolence through their riches earned and spent on developing poorer areas, as well as a figure of self empowerment for the average citizen to become the best they can be and protect their fellow beings.

As for my Sith, I want to make one that has a strong balance of uniqueness and traditional Sith traits. I may make them after my first character, so that I can finalize how I'll balance in their uniqueness, but also because I feel I'll naturally need to learn up a bit more for a member of a main organization. In short, what I know about my Sith so far is that they'll be different in some significant ways, while sharing the staple hunger for power and domination, coupled with strong brute force and deeply passionate emotion. I ask for pretty much the same advice as my first character, but from a darksider's perspective.

In conclusion, I'm happy to be a new member here, and hope to enjoy the collaborative storytelling with you all and memories from this part of the timeline to wherever else we venture :)

Tl;dr : there is no tl;dr, I am sorry for the effort you'll have to put into welcoming me

We meet again, @Spectrum.

Nevertheless: Welcome to SWRP!

To start, I do believe that the "only one main faction" rule has recently been uplifted, and members are now welcome to join either main faction as they please, as long as they have one open slot or Independent character (e.g. one Sith, one Jedi, and one nomad or Mandalorian or Accordian). Of course, you can still stick with what you originally had in mind. I mean, I got two Jedi Knights and a Mandalorian, so you don't gotta stick with both sides if you don't want to.

Next, a Rey-esque character is always welcome. I mean, my other Jedi Lysander was essentially born on a crashed ship on Hoth without ever knowing his father and mother (as cliché as that might sound), and has always had a lil' special connection with that cold world. As for actual legitimate ideas, the possibilities are endless. You can always have your character abandoned on a distant Outer-Rim colony by parents fleeing the Sith to save said character from a life under the Brotherhood. Or your character could have been swept up into the widespread slavery network across the galaxy, having been nearly worked to death on somewhere like Lorrd or Zyggeria until they escape to realize the galaxy is a lot bigger than you might've thought. For example, a personal favorite Sith: Mila Visari (@Gamov). But still, there are loads more opportunities or paths for you to take, so you do what you feel is best.

First character persona sounds great though! I'd love to see how you balance those two sides out in the long-run. And, as for your Sith, I'd totally check out Mila (linked above) for inspiration if you're looking for it.

Anyway, if you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask! @Padmé had a neat conversation set up with you, so you can always shoot us a PM through there. Or, you can add me on Skype at: caleb.leeper (and then I can add you to the Official SWRP chatroom).

Have a marvelous stay!

Hii, welcome! And don't worry, I don't know much about star wars either. There are aliens, jedi, sith, lots of planets, space travel, and the force. That's basically the extent of my own knowledge base, more specifics are on the wookiepedia and inside the people that reside here.

Have fun murdering people as a sith :D

Hey Spectrum! Welcome to the site!

I think Deviant gave some really great advice (shocking, I know.) In a galaxy as big as the one we're RPing in, there are endless possibilities for potential backstories of a character. A double persona sounds awesome, and like you could have a lot of fun with it!

As others in this thread have said, wookieepedia is a great resource if you're looking to learn more about the Star Wars universe.

Cheers! I hope to see you around.
