Hey all, I'm a new member of the SWRP and I'm here to introduce myself.
I haven't roleplayed since MSN groups was shut down, but I'm a grown adult now and I'm sure I'll get much more out of it at this point.
My biggest concern for joining in on the role playing is my knowledge of the SW universe. See, I am a very new fan of the series. I got into it through The Force Awakens (I've watched ep 4, 5, 6, and 1 since) and I enjoyed The Force Unleashed. Although I prefer the Jedi as an organization, my favorite character thus far is the darksider Kylo Ren, because it's interesting that he's Han's son with such a determination to be a powerful darksider, his emotions are interesting, and his lightsaber is super tight.
With my relatively miniscule knowledge on the universe, I call to the veterans of this forum to advise me on some things. I want to know the best way to formulate my 2 (and perhaps 3 in the future) characters. From what I understand, it's only allowed that you have one character in a main faction due to the fact that the factions are at war and simply put, one side should be chosen for which you want to support. I intend to have a benevolent solo character as my first, and a Sith as my second. But here's where the questions come in.
As someone with low knowledge, I want a character(s) who realistically also has little knowledge on the universe. Something similar to Rey from TFA, in the sense that she didn't know much about the galaxy or the force, and what she did know she couldn't discern from truth or rumor. I want advice on a realistic origin for not only my solo heroic character, but possibly my Sith as well, with regard to home planet and upbringing.
It should be noted that I have the general motives of my characters decided. For the first I want a character with a double life (similar to a super hero), who holds a regular job with their public persona, but is some kind of artist and fighter under their masked persona, with the goal of balancing the two lives, and through their masked persona becoming a public figure of benevolence through their riches earned and spent on developing poorer areas, as well as a figure of self empowerment for the average citizen to become the best they can be and protect their fellow beings.
As for my Sith, I want to make one that has a strong balance of uniqueness and traditional Sith traits. I may make them after my first character, so that I can finalize how I'll balance in their uniqueness, but also because I feel I'll naturally need to learn up a bit more for a member of a main organization. In short, what I know about my Sith so far is that they'll be different in some significant ways, while sharing the staple hunger for power and domination, coupled with strong brute force and deeply passionate emotion. I ask for pretty much the same advice as my first character, but from a darksider's perspective.
In conclusion, I'm happy to be a new member here, and hope to enjoy the collaborative storytelling with you all and memories from this part of the timeline to wherever else we venture :)
Tl;dr : there is no tl;dr, I am sorry for the effort you'll have to put into welcoming me
