A satisfying screaming rang in the chamber. Old Saris’ head went flying and whatever magic commanded his corpse evaporated. Charlotte smiled. She really had hated that old man. How many times had he terrorized her as an Acolyte…leering while she worked through her lessons. The Order was better off without lecherous Saris. She released the Force to focus on the dark tunnel ahead. Aadya was perfectly correct on the dangers of the Terentateks. That one was smart. Charlotte could feel the Darkness pulling them in. The pulse was unmistakable. Her smile widened. It was all so obviously a terrible trap…that they had no choice but to spring.

Her concentration momentarily shifted to Ianthe limping over. Great. She was injured. Charlotte was under no delusions about her chances of success against a pack of Terentateks. They would need each Acolyte and her abilities combined. She rolled her eyes, digging into the pockets of her robes. Her Masters insisted she bring bacta packs in case of emergencies. She tossed it at the young red haired Sith. “So you don’t slow us down.” Her gaze swept across the group, a withering stare landing on each of them. “If even one of us kriffs up…the rest die.” She pointed down the tunnel. “Aadya did not oversell the beasts, they were chosen as guards by the ancient Lords for a reason. The Terentateks kill indiscriminately and with startling efficiency.” She clicked her tongue. “They will happily rend our flesh from our bones.” Her smile widened. “Time to find them.”

Charlotte marched off towards the pull of the Darkness. She assumed the other would follow, she would stop if the did not, but there was only one way out of the tome. Forward. The Darkness was waiting for them and she just could not wait to get started.

The severed arm wrapped tightly around Bir’s neck, squeezing with the might of an irate rancor as he finally fell to his knees. Had it not been for his air-tight and sealed goggles, Bir’s eyes may well have popped out of his skull from the sheer pressure he had felt. Or at least, he believed so. The Kel Dor struggled in a desperate attempt to remove the limb and allow him to take a breath of his precious Dorin gas. Odd sounds of gurgling and gasping escaped his mask as he fell to his back until finally, the arm deteriorated into a bloody mist that stained his torso and face as Xeno the Zabrak brought the flying corpse of Saris to it’s final fate. Loudly drawing in the gas to his lungs, Bir only allowed himself a moment or two of recoup before bursting into maniacal laughter. To think he had intended on sitting this one out.

”For a dead man, he sure had an iron grip!” Bir managed to vocalise between fits of laughter as he remained laying on his back. His muscles were quite sore but he would ultimately be fine thanks to his tougher hide than that of a human, at least for the time being. Picking himself up, the Kel Dor casually dusted his trousers off before raising his attention to meet Xeno’s eyes. ”You have my sincerest thanks, horny one! I plead the Force place your life in utter peril so I may return the favor!” Bir declared with a beaming grin and laced fingers before pausing. Danger was an inevitability, of that there was no doubt and who was to say he would be in a position to fullfil that oath?”Unless you die, of course! In which case, my side of the debt is alleviated! Either way, Bir Vuul wins!” Throwing his arms wide, Bir turned to follow Charlotte as she pressed on, deeper into the tomb.

Excited to discover just what these dangerous and formidable beasts were, Bir hurried to catch up to the leading Marauder. Action and danger laid ahead and he could not deny the eagerness he felt. To go tooth and claw with a creature of pure darkness? It was never something Bir wanted to avoid again after Malheion. Not now that he had both the Force and a lightsaber at his disposal. Still, he had much to learn. Too much. As he walked, he moved in closer to Ianthe and her textbook of ancient knowledge, fear rolling off of her like waves of an beach head.

”I do so hope you’re ankle is alright, child! I would hate to have an advantage on you when it comes time to flee! The slowest dalgo is eaten by the drexl, I’m afraid!” Bir said with giggling pride. Though his meaning was clearly innocent, his choice of words sounded almost taunt-like. Whatever lay ahead in wait for them, they would need to work together and his words had merit. If Charlotte’s bacta pack did little in way of healing Ianthe’s wound, she may well end up a mid day treat for some hungry beasts. But at least the rest could get away while they indulged on the child.

Vaporization. Definitely not what Xeno had expected from the dead undead. It hadn’t any effect on the Zabrak compared to the way of thanking him that the Kel Dor had. It was.. unique to say the least. Xeno initially thought it was heartfelt until he spoke of the way of repayment.

The Zabrak rolled his eyes lifted a middle finger to the back of the Kel Dor once he turned around to speak to Ianthe. Then bringing his arm back down he looked over to Aadya who had been, what seemed to be, friends with the maniac of an acolyte. He looked her in the eyes and gave a shrug of the shoulders.

Once the situation was handled within the room they found themselves, the Zabrak turned his attention down the path of where the Terentateks had been awaiting. He listened to what Charlotte had said before. It would be a challenge.

“Bring it on..”

Xeno muttered. He was ready to go delve into the tomb further. Whether there was danger, or not, it was the feeling of darkness that brought him satisfaction.

All things considered, Aadya was glad that Charlotte was with them. Not that she doubted her own skills per se, but if they were going to be facing a terentatek or two, the odds were much better if they had someone above an acolyte on their side. Of course, the odds were still incredibly shitty. but they were still better.

Following Charlotte as they continued their pilgrimage towards the calling darkness, Aadya did her best to shed any feelings of trepidation. Hesitation in the face of imminent death meant you would undoubtedly fail. Plus, she didn't want the senior Sith to think she was a coward. Ianthe seemed to have that party role locked down, anyway.

When we do find them, the monsters, keep in mind that force attacks or essentially pointless. They are born of the darkness and naturally, they are resistant to its dangers and to its pain. Lightsabers will be your friend, assuming you can dodge the caustic blood.

Before long, the tracks they'd seen before were even more defined in the soft earth beneath their feet. They were nearing their quarry, but whether or not the group of Sith were the hunters or the hunted remained to be seen.

The path the group was following wound further and further down before eventually they were walking near a thin river of molten lava. Near the portion of the path that came closest to the river, Aadya noticed an unnatural burbling in the molten depths. Before long, three creatures materialized from below, their bodies dripping with lava but somehow seemingly unaffected. Eyes widening in surprise, Aadya gripped her saber tightly.

Sithspawn, Aadya said to the others. There's clearly something in this place worth guarding. Lets make sure we live long enough to find it.

Charlotte kept her saber out in front as the intrepid little group moved deeper into the caves. She could only pray Ianthe would heal quickly. The Hapan Sith planned to survive all this. She needed the acolytes. Her attention snapped back to Aadya. The young Sith offering yet another bit of helpful information. “Aadya is correct again. They are from the same darkness that bends to our will. It does not harm them.” She clicked her tongue. “We can only hope to hack them to pieces.” Her pretty face was marred by a frown.

She had absolutely chosen the wrong outfit for this occasion. Stupid Saris and his fucking lightning. They could have avoided all of this if the old man had bothered to look down. Charlotte grimaced further. Of course, it managed to get worse. The deeper into the cave system they went, the more the Darkness beat around them. That darkness drummed up delightful little horrors. Creatures from Sith legend pulled themselves from the magma. Twisted creatures of Darkness were rarely employed by the Sith these days. Blasters and rockets were often far more effective.

“Don’t let them touch you.” The Darkness beat heavily in Charlotte’s chest. Her left hand reached out, wrapping the Force around a dangling stalagmite. She ripped forward sending the hunk of rocket spearing into one of the creature’s chest. Her full strength in the Force behind the spear. Charlotte took a few steps back, slightly shielding Aadya. The other acolytes had not yet proven their worth. At least Aadya seemed worth saving. Her saber stayed up un a defensive position, the creatures beginning to amble forward. Lava continued to drip down their sides. How in the Darkness were these creatures made? And who down here would have the power to create them?
