Anyone else think this game is going to be a colossal failure

I'm a huge Trekky(Mostly a Niner. CRINGE IN MY NINER FANNESS!), but I haven't come across any Star Trek game that I've enjoyed. So yes, I expect fail.

What's your basis for this thought process?

The huge disappoints we are already seeing, space rail combat. WoW pretty much has a monopoly on the MMO scene. Blizzard has solidfied themself in this role.

mkay, but that's WoW and one thing relating to space combat. You generalized over "Huge disappointments" and instead listed a minor complaint, and that WoW has a larger market. None of which really = epic failure.

I think it's going to get so hyped it's going to suck in comparison. While it may be a solid game, people are already toting it to be the 'best MMO ever' and talking about how wonderful it is when hardly any information is released.

TFU was hyped up and was a total bomb. Although, I still liked it. We shall see about this.

It is going to be a victim of its own fame. On another site, in a 'Favourite Star Wars games' thread, some idiot put TOR as one of their favourite games. It is not even out yet....

From what I've seen, TOR is probably going to be a solid MMO, though it is over-hyped.

An on-rails system can work, but there is too little information about the space combat to really say if it is a crappy addition or not.

Okay so you've added over hyped. But again, that's not a problem with the game so much as a problem with the people anticipating it.

Personally I'm waiting till you can actually play the game, rather than speculate. But you've given **** all for good reasons it's going to fail as a game.

I dislike TOS. Too old man for me.

DS9 > TNG > VOYAGER > TOS > Ent

You're aware that Ent was the second ST to be taken off air, right?

...eh, either way, unless there's a free way to play TOR, it's unlikely I'll play it. It's certainly got chops, but I honestly would rather pay for Lego Universe than another Lucas Arts funding project. If it was a Mass Effect MMO, that'd be one thing, but I am officially boycotting Lucas Arts as much as bloody possible.

There is no way the game will be free to play.

Also, are you drunk or something? This is from BioWare and EA Games, Lucas Arts had nothing to do with this.

To be honest, I think that the market is dominated by WoW to such an extent that any breakthrough for this KOTOR MMORPG is near impossible. At best, this game will only have a small and dedicated player-base, much like this website.
