Arcane Hunter's Association

HISTORY
Commonly known as the AHA or just the Association, the Arcane Hunter's Association has a history as shrouded in uncertainty as the entirety of the organization. Many of its members are not even aware of how exactly the organization was formed, but all know its more recent history.

Created in the Outer Rim as a means of maintaining order and protecting citizens from things they could not protect themselves from, the AHA devoted itself to learning all that it could about the Force, mysticism, necromancy, monsters, and all other manner of dangerous abomination. For several decades, they have successfully hunted down supernatural creatures, selling off pieces, relicts, and other items of value to Force-using sects and wealthy collectors.

For many years, the organization prospered with more hunters brought in to replace those who died. Often times, "green" individuals would only last for a single hunt, but those who lingered for months or years quickly gained deadly reputations.

For these years, the organization was presided over by "the Board" who met infrequently to address issues that arose throughout the hunts. As time went on, a group of deadly and influential hunters rose up against the Board due to a disagreement over methods and slew the entire Board, shattering the organization and forcing each hunter to either band together with close associates or continue their work on their own. Infighting among members of the organization massively increased with most hunters killing one another on sight.

The violence poured over onto a variety of planets and out of necessity, hunters began to form their own chapters once again. Now made up of four independent chapters, these chapters continue to have violent fights against one another in the field.

PHILOSOPHY

The role of the AHA is the hunting of monstrosities. The precise reason that each hunter undertakes this job is as diverse as the hunters that make up the Association. Some fight for greed, some fight to protect the innocent, and some fight simply because they know nothing else anymore.

With the Four Chapters, however, each group tended to attract individuals of certain proclivities. The Tattooine Chapter was known for its tendency to attract individuals fascinated by the occult and worship of ancient Force creatures. They tracked - and killed - the creatures due to their beliefs that being around such creatures and the items they collect from said creatures could allow them greater power of their own and perhaps even "transcendence" to a higher plane of existence.

The Kalee Chapter was known for attracting individuals fascinated with the hunt. Whether purely for money or the excitement that the hunt brought to them, they were notorious for being fair to those they came across but vicious and deadly should the meeting come to blows.

The Utapau Chapter was formed in the husk of the AMS-ridden planet. Made up of a more idealistic - but equally dangerous - group of hunters, the Utapau Chapter was largely responsible for trying to keep the other hunters in check following the initial collapse of the AHA. Make no mistake, however, they are still a violent organization with a belief that hunting down the supernatural is a worthy ends with any means justifiable to see it accomplished, no matter how heinous.

The Ventooine Chapter was generally considered to be the most vile lot of the group with the most tendency toward violence and the greatest greed to motivate them. Barely even a cohesive group, the Ventooine Chapter was notorious for its members turning even on each other in the field if it meant a higher cut of the profits in the end.

METHODOLOGY
It likely doesn't need to be said that hunting for the AHA is extremely dangerous. There is perhaps no game more dangerous to hunt than the monstrosities and abominations tracked by these hunters, and as such, those who survive more than one hunt often learn to adapt very specific techniques for killing their prey.

The first and perhaps most critical trait that marks out a successful hunter was intelligence. Not only were successful members cunning and capable of improvisation, but most were well-studied in all manner of ancient creature so they best knew how to kill and banish such creatures.

When it came to armor and weapons, their equipment was quite unusual from most others in the galaxy such as bounty hunters. They seldom, if ever, used armor. Stealth and agility were far more critical for success than the ability to take a hit, so few hunters wore armor and instead favored lightweight, maneuverable clothing. When it came to weapons, they often used slugthrowers rather than blasters. Easy access and availability of these weapons in the Outer Rim made them an easy choice for most hunters, and eventually many hunters manufactured their own slugs, tipping them with poisons, incendiaries, and other payloads depending on the creatures they were tracking.

The most critical and unusual portion of being a hunter in the AHA was "Induction." When a hunter was Inducted into the AHA the process was simple but critical: he or she was handed a syringe filled with a red liquid that the would-be hunter injected into themselves.

The serum was derived from "the profane ritual" a secret ritual known only to a very, very small number of individuals. One ritual could produce enough serum for dozens if not hundreds of hunters, but the ritual was so foul that most - if they truly knew the details - would shy away and cower in fear.

The reason the serum was so critical was that despite the fact that most members of the AHA were not Force sensitive, it allowed these individuals a much above-average resistance to mental invasion by the creatures they hunt as well as an ability to sense and track these supernatural entities. This tracking has become obviously important as a means for hunters to banish their targets.

INTENT
I've been doing some work to build this organization up through some IC backstory and wanted to get the information organized and categorized. I will likely make a character for this group, myself, and I also I have hopes to run some events based around this concept in the future. I would encourage other members to get involved as well. I would also highly encourage people to make characters specifically for this rather than using existing characters and attempt to follow the information in the "methodology" section.
