APPEARANCE
With regards to the typical appearance of Tognath, Armides could be considered unremarkable to the untrained eye. Those familiar with the species would note, however, that he and his closest egg-kin all possess a slightly stockier build due to the labour they were forced to work as children.

PERSONALITY
To most people, Armides can be extremely blunt, choosing to express his thoughts on a matter without much regard for what others may think. A cold cynicism often clouds his attempts at empathy, something which formed since the deaths of his eggmates in the battle for survival.

BIOGRAPHY
Tognath are known for the hostile environment of their homeworld, and even having never been there, living lightyears away, Armides still holds on to his roots to that distant world and the philosophy such life lends itself to.
With the rebreather mask fashioned about his face like so many of his kind, his approach to the wider galaxy is one in which the greater forces at play are anathema to life, and that only by resisting such pressures can life thrive and prosper. In order to do this, Armides believes the only way to cheat those forces is to be smarter, sharper, and if possible, stronger. It is a mindset akin to the human idiom "survival of the fittest" that he has taken to heart. The very air he breathes is a constant reminder of this fact, having to be filtered and processed through artificial equipment before entering his lungs simply to survive in environments other species consider "hospitable".

1. EARLY LIFE

His earliest memories were that he grew up aboard the vessel Delucis alongside his eggmates and kin, a privilege few on his homeworld would receive were they not the goods and slaves of traffickers and traders.
Having worked from a young age aboard the vessel during the most rudimentary tasks, every world they visited fed new information to Armides and expanded his view on what it meant to not simply survive, but to thrive. The first lesson he learnt was that allies and partners could be found at all levels of society, and incentives could motivate the most reluctant of individual to cooperate. The second lesson he learnt was that in the galaxy, there was a thriving market for those who marketted their skills in taking life and preserving life. For some of his eggmates, that gave them aspirations to escape the Delucis and to seek out the protection of bodyguards to safeguard their survival. For Armides, it bred a different perspective on life, that their masters were criminals and that their murder could be considered justified. Perhaps even praised and rewarded.
Before he'd even come of age, these discoveries would go some way to making him the man he was destined to become.

2. MAKING OF A BOUNTY HUNTER

With nought but a jagged blade in his hand, the Delucis began to lose its crew through mysterious circumstances that would have the masters beat their wares and workers alike until they finally identified a Tognath as the source of the killings. To Armides' advantage, the appearance of Tognaths and their uniform breathing apparatus leant his kin a uniform appearance that gave the masters pause before dealing any punishment.
Set with the choice of venting their stock of Tognathi into space or to force a sale, even a bad one, on their next destination, the Delucis decided to hold out until planetfall. By this point, the diminished crew numbers, both from Armides and a likeminded few, would prove to be the final undoing of the slavers as Armides and some of his egg-kin were fortunate enough to make their escape.
Some did not make it, dying to blasterfire while others tasted freedom only for scant seconds before being hauled back to remain as captives.
Holding out in the shadow of the slums in which the slavers had landed, Armides waited until the slavers gave up their search and the Delucis departed, disappearing into the atmosphere above. Coming to terms with having swapped one challenge for another, Armides and his egg kin wrestled with hunger, cold, and a sudden loneliness that was left by the press of bodies and the toil of their daily chores.
Learning to fend for themeslves was a lesson Armides would never forget, having watched his surviving kin, those he had spent his whole life alongside, reluctantly go their own ways for the sake of survival.
On the steps of eateries and taverns, he was fortunate enough to scavenge coin from layabouts and drunks who littered the street in the evening hours, using his earnings for food and eventually, lodgings. By the age of his late teen years, he had buried the last of those who he'd still kept company. By then, life on the streets had become second nature, and he had come to terms with how the criminals had thrived in the area he had come to call home.

In time, his savings paid for his first manufactured weapons and that, in turn, led to him turning in his first bounties. Starting with the scum of the land, and working up as finances grew stable, and once food and shelter were accounted for.

TRAITS
Amoral pragmatist:

To the chagrin of many cultures, Armides does not value life in quite the same way as some species do, which works as an advantage in his line of work. However, in his struggles to survive as a growing child, he also learnt not to refuse choices based on his own brand of ethics.
Urban fieldcraft:
Having grown up aboard a ship travelling between numerous worlds, Armides has gained a wide plethora of experience in different working and low societies. Having eventually come to live on the streets after escaping his slave masters, his own experiences taught him how to survive and navigate the a typical of urban environment
