Artolan Coriss, better known as “Art” to his friends, is a survivor from a fair-to-middling background.
With a childhood based around following the postings of a security officer, Artolan learned at a very young age the importance of avoiding “tall-poppy syndrome”, and keeping his head down in new and unfamiliar environments. His teenage years saw him avoiding the local community bullies and, on occasion, law enforcement. But as he grew, Art found his calling in supporting those who welcomed him into their social circles, which on occasion saw him ending up on the wrong end of the local security’s attention. As he concluded his mandatory schooling, Art developed an interest for the sciences, specifically mechanical engineering and biology. By no means a stand out student, though Art definitely took onboard more than his grades would show, he learned and applied his knowledge to a variety of situations.
He spent his early twenties working his way through a variety of programs including supporting environmental lobbyists in the mid-rim; specifically developing fauna traps and sensors to scan for impacts to wildlife from the major factions in the universe. Often ending up in being detained by authorities, but usually released with little more than a note added to his permanent records.
However, as the work took him further to the Outer-Rim, his work saw the added need of owning a blaster. Like most people without military experience, Art viewed the blaster as a cool thing to have, but realistically only ever needed to use it once or twice to prevent loss of life. He was definitely as uncomfortable needing to point the weapon at another person as he was to have one pointed at himself; not to call himself a pacifist, however, Art would happily use it to prevent injustice, or to expedite essential actions to support his goals; whatever they may be at that time.
Today, however, Art is working his way through the bars and nature of the worlds that occupy the universe, seeking out his next adventure or mission.

Art is an honest person, preferring only to deceive in the best interest of those he cares about. His personality is a reflection of his upbringing; easily adaptable, somewhat a social chameleon, but ultimately his good nature and willingness to learn from and support those around him shine through.
Ultimately Artolan can be quite task-focused, and a little bit of a workaholic, but when it is time for him to take a moment for himself, he definitely seems to retreat into his own mind.
In a group environment, Art is comfortably the one supporting those around him, only taking charge when he has evidence to support a contrary idea. He’ll avoid conflict as often as possible, unless a clear injustice is happening which he can prevent.

Artolan is a man of a diverse upbringing, with a passion for the questions “Why?” and “How?”.
Approaching new situations often ends up being a learning opportunity for Art, expanding his skillset and understanding of the world around him. He’s a quick study to new tasks, and could easily be considered a jack of many trades, but realistically a master of none.
He’s capable with mechanical challenges, physically fit, and has a fair situational awareness - but by no means is he a prodigy in any field.
