NAME: Ar’tre, referred to as Tre by friends FACTION: Independent RANK: Former GA ensign SPECIES: Verpine AGE: 33 GENDER: Male personality (hermaphroditic) HEIGHT: 2 meters WEIGHT: 160 lbs EYES: Black HAIR: N/A SKIN: Green DISTINGUISHING MARKS: ”S” brand on left breast | STRENGTH: ■■■■■■■■■■ [6/10] DEXTERITY: ■■■■■■■■■■ [9/10] CONSTITUTION: ■■■■■■■■■■ [5/10] INTELLIGENCE: ■■■■■■■■■■ [8/10] WISDOM: ■■■■■■■■■■ [7/10] CHARISMA: ■■■■■■■■■■ [8/10] |
BIOGRAPHY:
Ar’tre was born to Zix and Kuli, two wealthy upper-level employees of the famed Roche Hive Mechanical Apparatus Design and Construction Activity for Those Who Need the Hive's Machines. The second of many offspring, Tre quickly learned he was not cut out for the corporate life. Upon completing secondary school, he decided to seek a life of adventure and enrolled in the Galactic Alliance Space Academy.
At the Academy, he quickly found a home and engrossed himself in the military culture there and became quite the budding young pilot. It was there that his talents in piloting and shooting became apparent, suppressed by stifling study of arithmetic on Roche. Top of his class, Ar’tre was rearing to finish his final year at the academy and burst into military action when his eldest brother died suddenly of disease. Returning to Roche on leave, his parents delivered an ultimatum: assume the family legacy of corporate ladder-climbing, or be disowned. Tre's pleading fell on deaf ears, and his parents swiftly removed him in lieu of his younger brother in the family succession and discontinued payments for his Academy tuition.
Depressed, he returned to the Academy to finish the only thing he had left in life. Trying to pay for tuition, he naively fell into manipulative contracts with a group of loan sharks he believed to be legitimate bankers. When the payments grew to impossible amounts, he panicked - he had found an old news story that showed the agency was capable of getting to him even within the ranks of the military. After completing his courses, Tre deserted to take on a risky charter mission ferrying weapons past an Imperial blockade, reasoning he would be skilled enough to complete the mission for the fantastic bounty that would assuage the violent loan sharks.
His ship was disabled by an ion blast and he was taken prisoner by the Imperials. Tortured by bored soldiers in detention, he was swiftly sentenced to confinement on a prison world and was branded with a “S” on his left breast, for smuggler. His antennae were also scheduled to be disabled. Meanwhile, his superiors at the Academy never found out what he was up to and he was listed as absent without leave - and eventually, as a deserter, for which he would face court martial if ever seen again by Alliance officials.
His brother, sympathetic to his situation (he derived no satisfaction from benefiting from his parents' obstinacy), paid a large bribe to the corrupt prison officials to facilitate Tre's escape. Tre's brother could do no more without risking his parents wrath, and having exhausted a considerable portion of his personal resources, could only wish him luck in securing his own way in the galaxy.
His final gift became Tre’s most valued possession - a heavily customized Ghtroc Class 720 freighter. Armed now only with a ship and his galaxy-given talents, Tre set out to make his way in what he was now learning to be a cold and unfair galaxy - remaining determined to experience the adventure he had dreamed so long about.
For ten years he took on smuggling contracts that allowed him to maintain a respectable living, warily observing as the Alliance fell and the Empire became resurgent. During this time, he occasionally ran afoul angry gamblers he skimped in rounds of cards and had several close calls with Imperial agents who came close to discovered the ex-cons unscrupulous cargo-loads. In the process, the young Verpine grew into his own as a swashbuckling smuggler, his talents developing with ten years worth of experience - though his adventure streak remained dangerously vivacious, an attribute his colleagues remarked as dangerous in a business where idealism had no place. His parents died and his younger brother rose to the ranks of executive on Roche, and Tre was able to return gracefully and have his ship maintained by the Hive's expert engineers.
As the Rebellion grows in strength, Tre has considered reaching out to the members of his Academy class he knows remains alive, but hesitates. Although he personally has experienced the evil and injustice of the Empire, he has grown fond of being his own individual and knows that Alliance higher-ups might insist on holding that court-martial.
So the Verpine remains an active smuggler, playing no sides, quietly observing for when he might want to re-enter the realm of legitimacy and offer his talents as a spacer to a cause. Probably when a winner of the war becomes more apparent.
He is seeking employment and contracts and guarantees swift and efficient service.

Dexterity: Tre has benefits from exceptional acuity, reflexes and hand-eye coordination. His dexterity is his greatest strength, which translates into agility, accuracy, and extraordinary ability in the pilot's seat.
Constitution: Reflecting his species' physical limitations, Tre has limited endurance.
Intelligence: A bright scholar, Tre picks up knowledge readily and is able to understand concepts at a higher than average level.
Wisdom: Collected and sure of his path in life, Tre has no significant philosophical qualms and possesses a balanced view of the galaxy. He reads individuals fairly well as is necessary in a lifestyle where your employer is just as likely to double cross you as he is actually willing to cut a check.
Charisma: Easygoing and easily liked, Tre is a good leader when needed and makes good impressions with most beings he meets. In fact, he tends to be underestimated by those he comes into contact as he contrasts with the stoic tough crowd that is pilots-for-hire.
STRENGTHS:
An extraordinary pilot and an excellent shot, Tre thinks outside of the box to solve problems on the fly. Assured of his place in life, he is capable of socializing in refined dinner settings and gritty cantinas alike. His bright demeanor can be deceiving when he needs it to be, and he remains resistant to the vices that are rampant in the fringe pilot community save for gambling - which although getting him into sticky situations, keeps his mind clear and reflexes able unlike those who use intoxicants.
WEAKNESSES:
Tre is capable of only keeping up with most species physically, and he's most useful in the pilot's seat or at range (CQB is a big weakness). He also has a weakness for gambling, and this lack of financial stability is a potential weakness for exploitation. His ambition and a degree of pride can lead to him biting off more than he can chew. He also is a marked man, with price of 20,000 credits on his head placed by loan sharks based out of Nar Shaddaa. He is a low-level bounty, and his relatively average appearance allows him to blend in; he is also in constant motion throughout the galaxy, never staying in one place for long. Past history with both the Alliance and Empire can limit his options for connections, and as such he maintains a pretty tight circle of friends.

SKILLS:
One of the best pilots in the galaxy, and knows many tricks, implementing both the unorthodox and military maneuvers. Proficient in piloting many different classes of starship, and also is skilled in weapons tactics. Knowledgeable about military and government procedure, and loopholes through both. Proficient gambler. Good at spinning deception. Knowledgeable about social protocols in various levels of society. Skilled mechanic and has had engineering schooling.
Bottom line is, many things Tre may be, but one thing he isn’t and never will be is an incompetent pilot.

APPEARANCE:
Average in appearance for his species, Tre has green scaly skin and black eyes, with a slight build and two functional antennae. He lacks visible distinguishing marks fits into a crowd well. He usually can be found wearing a spacer’s jacket (black with a brown leather collar, “Captain” over left breast) over a nondescript white shirt, with a standard brown utility belt holding basic equipment.
Has an Imperial brand mark, a medium sized S, on his left breast. Covered by clothing.

PERSONALITY:
Tre is quiet and unassuming, always taking in a galaxy that appears to him vast and unknown. Disciplined because of his military background, he also lacks the brittle personality of many other independent pilots. He is still relatively naïve and holds himself to relatively high moral standards. Tre still believes in adhering to the “right path.” Although he usually runs solo, he is also a good leader and can work well in a team.

The Fallen Angel – Pride of Roche!
REGISTRATION STATUS: Completely licensed and registered
STOCK MODEL: Ghtroc Class 720 freighter
PRIMARY HYPERDRIVE: 0.4 Class derived from the Mandalorian and Verpine-designed hyperdrive from the famed Bes’uliik-class starfighter. As a custom hyperdrive increasing power demand, the hyperdrive has been known to fail at times and cause the ship’s circuit breaker to shut off all power.
BACKUP HYPERDRIVE: Class 4 Hyperdrive
ARMANENT: Double medium laser cannons on top of cockpit, medium ion cannon attached to cockpit’s underside, concussion missile rack (missiles x8) on top of right side of the hull, double medium laser cannons attached on a swivel turret on top of left side of hull (adjacent to concussion missiles).
CREW: Minimum 1, up to 2
PASSENGERS: 10
CARGO CAPACITY: 110 metric tons in dual 45 cubic meter cargo holds, 35 metric tons in hidden cargo holds underneath deck, 50 metric tons in each cargo pod (x2)
LENGTH: 38 meters
SHIELDING: Military grade shielding
NAVIGATION SYSTEM: Verpine navigation computer system
CONSUMABLES: 2 months
ESCAPE PODS: Modified cockpit ejection system fits cockpit as escape pod
ENERGY CORE: Modified Roche quadruple reactor core - larger and produces much more energy to meet the requirements of the modified systems; known to overheat and also can shut down all systems if circuit breaker is triggered. The expanded core also cuts into cargo space.
SUBLIGHT ENGINES: Modified to produce more thrust to carry heavier cargo loads.
ADDITIONAL SYSTEMS: Workshop and small medical bay, taken out of cargo hold space.
Tre markets himself and his ship as a specialty charter craft that can transport cargo safely, quickly, and surreptitiously throughout the galaxy to any destination. Tre benefits from a mostly absent criminal record versus most smugglers, and he holds all required licensure and registration. A medical bay and workshop enables a degree of self-sufficiency, keeping him away from too-public on-surface facilities when necessary. A powerful quadruple reactor core powers the high-energy craft’s sublight engines, record-fast hyperdrives, and considerable armament. Replacing the escape pods with cargo pods to increase cargo loads, he's modified the cockpit instead with ejection capacity and powered his craft with Verpine nav computers and military grade shielding. Periodic maintenance is performed by the skilled technicians of Roche, and Tre is an able mechanic who can outfit his craft readily to suit missions with special needs.
