Name: Asgard
Coordinates: N-5
Hyperlane: Veragi Trade Route

Climate: Asgard is an arctic world and as such tends to rarely see anything above the freezing point. There is not much in the way of seasons, but it could be seen that summer is when snowstorms rarely occur.

Terrain: The planet mostly consists of vast plains of snow with the occasional mountain range, and oceans.

Rotation: An Asgardian day lasts 26 six hours and it takes 298 Galactic Standard Days for the planet to revolve around its star. Due to the tilt of its axis, it is common to see an aurora borealis at the northern pole and an aurora australis at the southern pole, almost every night.

Inhabitants: The major inhabitant of the planet are the Asgardians, Humans who had come to the planet aboard a sleeper ship from Coruscant.

The KaninKu are the native herbivore to the planet and are similar to nerf as they serve as the main source of meat to the Asgardians.

The Star Fugl are the large, predatory birds that rule the Asgardian skies. They make their home in the mountains close to the oceans where they fly down to catch fish swimming close to the surface of the icy waters. One notable Kesling was responsible for the communications array being torn off of the Bifrost.

Culture: When first exploring the planet, Asgardians discovered manuscripts detailing the birth of the gods and the planets on which they were born. Asgard is believed to be the birthplace of Odin, King of the Gods. Over 90% of the planets inhabitants believe in what are referred to as the "Old Gods". The name of the religion is Nordism.

The Einherjar

An order of force-sensitives exists on world and play a major role in Asgardian government. This organization is known as the Einherjar, mortals who were gifted with the powers of the Old Gods. The Einherjar were originally taken in by the original government of Asgard, who taught them to control their powers, while at the same time studying the Einherjar. Unrest across Asgard eventually caused the Einherjar, led by Aarti Norlig, to overthrow the leaders of the government. Afterwards the order was split on whether to return the government to the people or take the reigns of leadership. The split led to bloodshed, and in the end a new government was established with the Einherjar at its head.

Following the split, and new role as leaders of government, the Einherjar were forced to reevaluate how they should lead themselves. It was decided that the Einherjar would be led by a council of Thanes, members of the order who were seen to be the most experienced and wised. Of these Thanes, one was elected to lead the Asgardian government and given the title of Great Thane. This title gave them no additional power within the order itself however. Below the Thanes were the Shield-brothers and Shield-Sisters. The youngest and most inexperienced of the Einherjar were called the Neophytes.

The teachings of the Einherjar was also established following the split. The Einherjar refer to the Force as the Aether, and it is believed to be a gift from the Old Gods. Similar to Jedi teachings, it is believed that the Aether surrounds us and binds us together. The Aether is seen to be fluid, it has no true state, and as such it has no light or dark side. There are three disciplines that the Einherjar can choose to follow. These disciplines are modeled off of the three gods that were identified in the ancient manuscripts. It is known however that there are six other gods.

The first discipline is that of the King, Odin. Those Einherjar who follow this path are taught specifically in the ways of the Aether. They are taught how to manifest the Aether into forces that they can use in combat. Such powers are similar to the Force Lightning associated with the Sith and the Force Push. Millennia of living on the arctic world of Asgard has led the Einherjar to discover how to utilize the Aether to chill the very air to subzero temperatures. How they manifest this understanding of the Aether depends on each practitioner.

The second discipline is that of the Warrior, Thor. Focusing more on material weapons in combat, these Einherjar as skilled in the use of the staff and sword. They are also taught how to use the Aether to improve themselves, whether that be through enhanced speed or increased senses. It is believed the patron god, Thor, was born on Mandalore.

The third discipline is that of the Trickster, Loki. Einherjar who follow this path are taught how to use the Aether to manipulate. Such powers are similar to the Mind Trick and Force Stealth. These Einherjar are taught how to wield a vibroknife and blaster pistol, they tend to make excellent assassins. It is believed the patron god, Loki, was born on Nal Hutta.

No matter which path an Einherjar follows, when they reach the rank of Shield-Brother or Shield-Sister, it is typical for them to drop their last name and take on their patron god's surname: Odinson, Thorsen, or Lokison.

Government: The government of Asgard is a Democratic Theocracy. The government is headed by the Great Thane, who is elected by the Thanes of the Einherjar. The current Great Thane is Tai Thorsen. The legislative branch of Asgardian government is ran by the People's Senate, where representatives, elected by the majority of Asgardians, create the governing laws of Asgardian society.

Einherjar who follow the patron god Thor, have voiced their opinion that Asgard should align with the Sith Brotherhood and secure their place as a dominant force in the galaxy. Those who follow Odin however, have expressed that they should align with the Jedi Knights, and defend the balance of the Aether.

Technology: Asgardian technology is equivalent to that of the greater galaxy.

History
The original settlers of Asgard were sent aboard the sleeper ship Bifrost from Coruscant in the year 25,892 BBY. Aboard the ship, the settlers were kept in suspended animation for the journey. The Bifrost would reach the world of Asgard six centuries after departing from Coruscant. In the planet's orbit, the ship's automated systems began awakening its passengers for atmospheric reentry. As the ship descended, a violent impact shook the vessel, the sound of tearing metal vibrated throughout the corridors. Scientists back on Coruscant, who had been tasked with observing the Bifrost during its journey, received a message saying that they had lost contact with the sleeper ship. Back on Asgard, disembarking settlers found that the communications array, the lifeline between them and Coruscant, had been torn off. Determined to survive on the arctic world however, the settlers set to work establishing a community around the Bifrost, which would become the temporary center of administration.

In the cargo hold the ship, the settlers had been sent with the basics for all form of work that the new world's inhabitants would need: from farming to genetic alteration and everywhere in between. Having set down at the base of a large mountain, and no forest in sight, the colonists set to work mining the stone they would need to build their houses and the metal ores to maintain and construct equipment. The climate was too cold for the crops that they had brought with them from Coruscant, so the plants were altered through genetic splicing to survive the harsh cold. The native Kowlas were domesticated to provide a meat for the colonists diet.

A year after having initially touched down on Asgard, the colony's leaders organized a search party to find the location of the missing communications array. Using data from the Bifrost's computer the search team had a general area for where the array could have impacted. The array was quickly located, but the team found several other things as well. The first was the skeleton of a large avian, most likely what had caused the array to be ripped off the ship. The second was that the array had impacted on the outskirts of an ancient city. The city was in ruins, but upon investigating the team found manuscripts depicting what must have been the religion of the people who had once lived there, but the text was indecipherable. What could be inferred however, was that the ancient natives had believed their world to be one of nine that been the birthplace of the deities that they worshiped. Asgard was the birthplace of Odin, the King of the Gods. The manuscripts and array were brought back to the colony. The array was determined to be unfit for communication outside the star system due to broken parts that couldn't be manufactured with the current technology the Asgardians had access to. The manuscripts however were analyzed and distributed throughout the colony, many of the colonists found the writings to be fascinating and a church to the old gods was established.

A hundred years later the Asgardians had spread out across the planet, establishing cities and holy places to the old gods. The original city was now named Byen Gammel and housed the planetary administration building. The citizens of the planet had slowly become aware of those who were force-sensitive, but believed these people to be gifted by the gods. The government built a facility to house these children of the gods, that they referred to as Einherjar. At the top of the mountain where the capital had been established, Valhalla was built to accommodate the Einherjar, where they would be taught and live isolated from the rest of Asgard. The Einherjar would continue to live secluded lives for the next four decades, but that would end when one Einherjar, Aarti Norlig, led the others in a coup against the Asgardian government. In the year 25,288 BBY, the Asgardian people had been facing months of famine and support was turning away from the government due to their handling of the crisis. Aarti's Einherjar followers stormed the planetary administration building and arrested the current president along with her cabinet members.

For weeks after the coup, the Einherjar debated among themselves who should run the government. One faction, led by Larz Solberg, believed that the Asgardians should be allowed to elect a new president. On the other side, the faction led by Aarti believed that the Einherjar should take the reigns of leadership and elect a leader. Tensions built and the Einherjar attacked each other. The battle ended when Aarti blasted Larz through a plate glass window where he fell to his death seven stories down. Many Einherjar lives had been lost, but those who remained agreed to elect a leader among themselves to lead the Asgardians. In a nearly unanimous decision, Aarti Norlig was elected the first Great Thane of Asgard.

For the next two centuries, Asgardian civilization would continue to advance and eventually scientists and engineers had managed to achieve the level of technology they had had before coming to Asgard. In the year 25,031 BBY, Asgardian engineers restored the communications array from the Bifrost, reestablishing contact with the greater galaxy.

Notable Locations

Forløper

xqwSfdP.jpg

Forløper is an ancient city that was built long before Corucsanti colonists arrived on world. It is unknown who once inhabited the city, or where they went. It was in this city that the manuscripts containing information on the "Old Gods" was discovered. The city is the largest holy place on the planet, and houses shrines to: The King of the Gods, Odin, the Warrior God, Thor, and the Trickster, Loki. All Asgardians able to make a pilgrimage to the city at least once a year.

Valhalla

hqK84pA.jpg

Valhalla is headquarters of the Einherjar and is located at the top of the Skanderna mountain range. the facility was originally built by the original government of Asgard over two millennium ago to house the Einherjar. Valhalla houses rooming for hundreds of Einherjar, mess halls, training chambers, and a council chamber for the Thanes. Stored underneath the complex, within the mountain itself, are the Einherjar Archives. Here, the order's complete history is stored and cataloged, for curious scholars to access. On occasion some Jedi, and less credible force users have been permitted access to the archives.

Fimbulwinter

Ei0Ryh7.jpg

Situated at the base of the Skandera mountains is the planetary capital of Asgard, Fimbulwinter. Located here is the People's Senate and the White Hall. In the People's Senate building, the representatives of the common people meet to write legislation governing life on Asgard. The People's Senate was created after the Einherjar coup, as a way of giving appeasing the Asgardians when the Einherjar took executive power. The White Hall houses the offices of the Great Thane, the Einherjar elected by his fellow Thanes to lead the Asgardians.

Intent: I wanted to introduce elements of the Old Nordic religion into the Star Wars universe, and I saw the best way to do that to be to create a planet. The planet offers a lot in terms of a unique culture and a government that is split between supporting the Sith Brotherhood or the Jedi Knights. Through future RP I hope for the religion of the world to be expanded on and hopefully discover the other eight worlds mentioned in the manuscripts.

That text really strains the eyes trying to read it. Could you tone it down a touch?

Also, a planet with an orbital period of 298 days wouldn't be an arctic world. Earth orbits the Sun every 365 days (give or take), and the fewer days in the orbit there are the closer a planet is to its parent star. Looking at it's orbital period, this one would actually fall somewhere between Venus (225 days) and Earth if you were to plop it into our solar system.

I've changed the orbital period to make it more like Mars. As for the text, is it the font type or color? The text came out that way when I used the cbox.

It's the font color. That white is glaring. At least on my screen, not sure about others.

While I understand the wish to involve Nordic-themed things in Star Wars, directly porting a lot of stuff from said culture and religion in real life into Star Wars seems like a bad idea, and honestly, rather uninspired.

Heck, you straight-up pull out Asgard, Valhalla, and Odin and drop them right in this, which - while you try to provide reasoning for it - doesn't really fit in the Star Wars universe. You're just repurposing actual real-life stuff (well, I mean, you know what I mean) into Star Wars with the framework of a special planet to support it. I'd much rather see something inspired by Old Norse culture put onto the site like this rather than something that tries to be a clone with special plastic surgery to disguise it a little bit.

I agree with Elijah. The thing is would you have spent the time to make this planet if the belief of Asgard would never have existed?

Agreed. I think there is too much Nordic references going on. My suggestion is demote this to a country on a stub planet, details in a character profile

Even then, I feel it's way too much directly out of Norse mythology. Even the Einherjar. So, as it stands, I personally wouldn't approve it with this level of Norse theme, even if it was just one nation on a planet. Change things up, like the Elder Scrolls verse did. Skyrim and the Nords are quite clearly based on the Norse and Scandinavia, but they changed shit. It's been a long established rule on SWRP that carbon copies of other genres and such aren't allowed. And this is a carbon copy of something RL.
