Albeit, unknown even to Ashara, the Torguta was born on her species' homeworld of Shili in 6922 BBY. Born into a stable household, where a combination of traditional hunting and mercantile dealings lead to a profitable lifestyle for the Laan family. The comfort of a successful business and safe childhood was robbed of Ashara in 6918 BBY, when her father had resorted to the hiring of shadier individuals after a strike in the security detail he had usually relied on when traversing Hutt Space.
On that day, the Togruta father and daughter had been sold into slavery after the betrayal of the guards and resulting piracy that ensued. For as long as Ashara could remember her life had been that of a slave, and faint memories of grasslands brushed her mind, coupled with the stories shared by her benevolent Torgruta owner. For much of her youth, Ashara spent it among kitchen hands and line cooks, working as an unpaid laborer among a handful of restaurants and cantinas in the seedier levels of Nar Shaddaa. Despite being a slave, she at times was treated like an adopted daughter to the owner of the stores she worked in, so much as referring to him as 'Uncle', without knowing the true nature of their relationship.
It was this upbringing that she familiarized herself with both the culinary and criminal elements of Nar Shaddaa. Ashara had regularly seen tribute being paid to Hutt Cartel Enforcers, occasionally taking up delivery jobs for the Enforcers when her 'boss' was unable to provide the monetary demands.
In 6903 BBY, tragedy struck the Togruta's life again, when her 'Uncle' had met an unfortunate end. Unpaid dues was cause for his demise, as the Enforcers collected on that day not by credits, but by blood. Ashara's life was spiraling, as not long after, she had learned of the true nature of their relationship, as owner and slave. The Togruta woman grieved, taking her old master's home as refuge until being run out by strongarmed squaters.
Now, Ashara Laan had been hardened to her new lifestyle, understanding what it takes for her not just to survive, but to thrive. The man who had raised her, she grew to hate and view as weak in the grand scheme of things. With her new worldview, she sought out the audience of those who had twice altered her life, the Cartel.

Despite her kind-spirited upbringing, Ashara is now challenged with a newfound view on the galaxy. The galaxy that was once vibrant and heart-warming to the Togruta, now disinterests her. Unafraid to make hasty actions, she relies heavily on a fight-or-flight mentality. Many have described her best feature as her ambition, although it may be misplaced or perhaps that her own ambitions are unknown even to herself.
It is no doubt that Ashara is conflicted, with fresh wounds still on her soul. Moments of heartless theft and assault are often regretted, as she strives for both her own success, and secondarily the wellness of others. Her largest flaw, which if overcame could strengthen her resolve, is her lack of clarity in what she seeks. Unbeknownst to her, it is the need for guidance and validation of others that she strives for, and her conflict lies in if she seeks the validation of the powerful criminals or the weak masses.

A woman in her early twenties, Arshara Laan shares the appearance of many of her Togruta kin. Among a crowd, she often stands tall, with her blue and white mandibles rising inches above her head. Her orange skin is accented by ivory colored markings on her face that have natural geometric symmetry.
Often in appearance, her attire is very basic, often very little more than street garb that can be seen on lower levels of Nar Shaddaa. She does possess a damaged K-6 light armor set, which many of the additional features are missing, but still provides protection against light weapon fire.
