Personality and Appearance
Elegant but deceitful. Charming but dangerous. Ashara's youthful face fools many, as behind her seemingly innocent countenance lies ambition. Opportunistic, deceptive and calculating to a level only politicians can truly achieve, she is divided between benevolence towards her people and inconsideration towards most others.

First and foremost a servant to the Togruta, few among them would doubt her worth as Republic Senator. Genuinely caring towards her race and planet, the position was achieved relatively early in life after an extremely successful political career, that granted vast popular support. Ashara stands as an appreciated representative for her people.

All that backing, although coherent with her marvelous results, may be rather misguided. When the outcome is positive, most people are content, holding no interest or plainly disregarding the means in which success was achieved. That is how Ashara has always played the game. Charismatic and dignified, accessible and amiable. Her elegant yet accessible ways take most attention out of darker realities, as her deceitful, regularly amoral plans stay hidden behind-the-scenes.

Resourceful and ambitious, the most beneficial of her schemes are usually the ones shrouded in subterfuge. But if they are positive, why would anyone be suspicious? Regardless, cynical as she is, Ashara always assure no ends are kept loose.

However, that is not to say no honor can be found in the Togrutan Senator. In fact, integrity towards her allies and people is strong, hardly ever betraying someone still useful or who she holds at esteem. As long as no harm caused by said alliances comes her way or unique opportunities come around, no one should ever be thrown under any buses.

On a more personal front, Ashara lives a life of luxury and sin. Not only politically interesting events take up her agenda, as the still young Togruta enjoys her fair share of parties - most of them extravagant and private, as their nature could absolute harm her career. Her frequent nights of drinking and plentiful pleasure are not truly a secret anymore, however no damage has been done, as nothing past rumors have erupted, not enough to originate a true scandal. Yet, at least.

A great deal of beauty was gifted the female, generally attractive to Trogrutans and other races alike, which lends immeasurable help to her more gentle and public side. Ashara exhibits short montrals and relatively long lekkus, colored in a pleasant mix of white and light-blue, matching with her dazzling blue pair of eyes. As far as outfits go, she sports the finest attires Shili can offer, which, coupled with pricey garments, usually in gold, provide quite the noble, dignified presence.

Background
Birthed to Togrutan nobles, Ashara has always enjoyed a prized position in her people's society, besides a lavish lifestyle and excellent education.

First daughter and third child to Uhala Vaana and his wife Sesha, both notable Shili politicians in their own right, the now Republic Senator was seen since childhood with tenderer eyes when compared to her older siblings. The preferred child, Ashara was groomed for the political game after displaying both interest and affinity to concepts perhaps considerably advanced for a youth. A true natural - the chosen heir to the Vaana political inheritance and reputation.

While early in life the Vaana did not by any means excel in more advanced academic fields, she had a distinct aptitude towards social sciences, which most definitely helped throughout her career. An adventurous soul, parties and events were plenty, regularly prioritized over studies and the source of many of her personal experiences and even some connections, political or not. Still during her initial teen years, Uhala Vaana, the girl's father, made sure to include her in some of his daily chores, progressing with time to even his most shadowy deals. "People respect results. What happens while on the road to achieve them is utterly irrelevant."

From her family she inherited not only the name, but also their contacts, connections and alliances, and as time would tell, their enemies.

Running for governance of their home-province, one of the many forest valleys, was only logical, the campaign used to present Ashara to the populace of Shili and won without much contest, once the Vaana family exerted quite a bit of influence over the region. Although the behind-the-scenes remained somewhat sketchy during the elections, and Ashara holds no illusion that her family did not at least persuade a few voters, but it could definitely be said she was a more than competent candidate. It indeed showed during her government, as improvements were noticed by lower and higher classes alike, and, catering to the still strong tribal demographics, the youngest Vaana received a great deal of support and essential allies to the future of her career.

During the short term, the Togrutan, besides gathering and enjoying ample support from multiple parties in her province, made some powerful, key connections. The reelection was easily conquered, but this time she received special attention from the royal family, and was invited to Corvala, the capital, to act on a predicament between two feuding noble families. Not at all an unusual occurrence, after all, his majesty operated on a tight schedule, and relegating functions as those to trusted governors was not unheard of. What stroke different, however, was Ashara's inexperience with such affairs, as, although proving time and again a competent ruler, dealing with tribal chiefs on a vastly rural area of Shili quite contrasted to the situation at hand, as two powerful families, with different goals and agendas to fulfill, conflicted.

The details of the incident escape most outside of Shili, for it can hardly be called relevant, as it was but an excuse to bring the young Vaana closer. However close and united the Togruta culture had always been, groups as a way to deal with the deadly wildlife found in their planet, struggles for power were common, just like with any other race. These struggles were often resolved through influence, whoever controlled and was backed by the most tribal chiefs, ordinarily "won", which is why his majesty wanted to win Ashara over, form an alliance strong enough to have her backing would a crisis happen. And in fact, it did.

See, although Uhala and Sesha Vaana ceased holding powerful positions within the Togrutan state long ago, connections and nobility could never truly be retired, and, as Ashara would discover, nor enemies. Already a dissident part of the Shili nobility, a family in the past rival to the Vaana saw their approaching of the royal family as a threat to their own power, and decided the time for a change in the political landscape of the planet was near.

Controllers of much of the military, what could potentially result in a full blown rebellion was quickly resolved with the help of the upcoming Vaana, holding many links not only to the tribes, but to Shili's underworld. The truth behind the downfall of the would-be coup is not known to many, but the aftermath saw the suspicious deaths of some high profile politicians and military officers, including the Councilor of Defense. An effort of the few, not the masses, the tribes involved settled down after a while, and political peace was restored.

While the populace at large did not even realize what had succeeded, with a single blow, an innocent faced Ashara, then but a governor - albeit of a key province -, secured the royal regime and a powerful position as its ally, with what became known in the most private noble circles as "the Purge".

As expected, an abundance of openings of political positions happened, and, with Ashara's parents closely collaborating with the royal family, the Vaana were quick to seize what they could. The second oldest son, already well known and versed in the world of nobility and politics, Zuli Vaana, was appointed as Councilor of Defense after his and Ashara's brother, Dalo, refused the office, against what was done to obtain it.

Ashara herself, although young, demonstrated once again her worth, and served as the Councilor for Foreign Affairs for a few years, less than a whole mandate, until recently, with the death of an older Ronza Maaks, the appointed Republic Senator of Shili, station she then assumed. She claims of course to have had nothing to do with her predecessor's death, but after blood is spilled on your behalf, only a naive being would believe that amiable face and warm words.

Possessions and Abilities
Ashara recently transitioned from Shili to Chandrila, as home the upper floors of a luxurious complex of apartments belonging to the Togrutan government. With its unusually elaborate wooden furniture - coming from the many forestry areas of their homeplanet -, the gated, closely monitored and secure complex serves both as habitation to important figures and center of power, with offices and related personnel. As higher royalty rarely visits for business, she is regarded as the highest ranking employee, a leader, if you will, and one of the sole legal representatives of her government in the capital.

Other than that and numerous outfits, her recent arrival means few other real possessions. Rumor has it the Togrutan Senator has been interested in expanding her family's business in association to locals, but she has yet to take further steps in that direction.

  • Personal yacht-class ship.
  • Blaster pistol.
  • Encrypted Holocom.

As for skills, the Vaana possess few outside of the political realm. The most interesting ones being her somewhat unexpected affinity to blaster pistols, taking pride in being a great shot, capabilities as a pilot and ability to identify a great variety of liquors and beverages just tasting. While not an ace by any means and now hardly ever practicing, she has enough experience with bigger ships - although hardly any with fighters -, and can fly a mean yacht. She believes to the core her piloting abilities are enhanced while under the effect of alcohol, which happens more than she would be comfortable admitting, and holds a perfect landing score on that state.

  • Great liar.
  • Great actress - emotion faking.
  • Can take Tihaar shots like a champ.

Connections and Politics

The Vaana.
Youngest child and sole daughter of the family, she holds them dearly both as family and political contacts. Well, mostly as contacts, as the nature behind some of Ashara's operations drove her brothers away.
  • Uhala Vaana, father - retired politician, head of the Vaana Corporation, and personal councilor to his Majesty.
  • Sesha Vaana, mother - retired politician.
  • Dalo Vaana, brother - noble, employee of Vaana Corp., responsible for trading.
  • Zuli Vaana, brother - politician, currently Councilor of Defense of Shili.

Shili underworld.
Ashara holds many connections to crimelords not only in Shili, but, through it's trading lanes, in various places of the Republic. Illegal bounty hunters, spies, assassins or general operatives are plenty, though few of them can be fully trusted. It is known among some of Shili's criminals that people hired by Ashara often disappear after the deed is done, perhaps to tie loose ends.
  • Dureem Kal - high-ranking mobster in Shili, controls a great deal of the black market and overall trade.
