Yes you are ols.

Your saying a weapon from one universe should do lots of damage based off what it does in it's said universe

The fact is if you do that there is nothing stopping the alsakan's saying they simply have incredibly powerful kinetic shields.

Thats why crap like this needs to be discussed with all parties beforehand, theres nothing wrong with surprising people with tactics and such but not weapons.

Well, this has been a fun read and all, so it's time for me to throw in my two cents on the matter.

Firstly, while I don't agree with the massive floating railgun stations for numerous reasons, the most important one is that they have zero flexibility. A single fighter could probably take the lot out, because the power output for the cannons and associated systems wouldn't allow the platforms to have any sufficient point defence weaponry.

And actually, these railguns are comparatively nerfed in comparison to contemporary railguns. I refer you to this article where projections of a railgun that can fire ten shots a minute is expected to be developed by 2025. In comparison, kupo's cannons reload ten times slower than that.

Now, for the projectile vs laser agument, and why lasers became so widespread? There's a number of reasons lasers are superior to projectiles. Longer range and better accuracy (lasers aren't affected by wind or the shot dropping over long ranges. Also, the weapons don't have as large a kickback as projectile weapons. Furthermore, in naval combat a lot of space would have to be used to carry ammunition for projectile weaponry. With the advent of turbolaser cannons, the ammunition is provided directly by the power core, saving a load of space and eventually leading to military vessels becoming smaller over time. In this period the majority of military vessels were at least a kilometer long to provide mainly for ammunition. When laser technology was fully accepted galaxy-wide, smaller ships could have a greater yield than mass driver-equipped ships, and were harder to hit.

Hope that helps clarify a few things.

One thing I DO have to point out, though, is that even in the Movies, a good few thousand years after our timeline, many of the Cannons operated on Ships, and the Death Stars, even, were manned by people. Aimed, Reloaded, and Fired by people.

So to say that the Alsakans have Computer Technology that can track the projectile and hit it with a laser cannon is, quite frankly, Bull. If they hadn't shown PEOPLE(And droids at one point...) manning the Lasers of Capital ships and such in the movies, It wouldn't be that big of a deal. But no Human is THAT fast.

Am what?

Well, I'd say saying that a large, hot projectile travelling at a high speed will do a lot of damage to something is fairly obvious. Like if one ship rams another, it will do damage.

And the Alsakan's, as far as the tech writeup is concerned, can't have really powerful shields at all. It quie clearly states that shield tech lasts only for a few seconds at a time and overloads fairly easily.

As for telling the Alsakans what worlds with fortified, I'm not really thinkng that I will do that. But okay, I'll be more specific with what arsenal we have. But I would like it if someone could please give me an up to date tech description - the writeup in the Story board is very vague and I'll be honest, I don't have much idea what I've got to work with here. If someone can give me an idea of that, then I'll write up the current Republic issue warships, fighters, bombers, rifles, pistols, grenades, knives, body armour, dropships, tanks, orbital defenses, planetary defenses and whatever else needs to be done.
