Oh look, more arguing. Guys, and this applies to everyone, this does not need to keep going around in circles.

Lock.

I'll maybe re-open this when we post a ruling.

OK, ruling time. There are a few major points that I will address.

  • The Fate of Sisk. Since Sisk had to go inactive from the site due to circumstances beyond his control, we won't auto-kill him. However, it's not realistic to just let him escape, so Sisk Renelo is considered a prisoner of the Sith. When Sisk returns, he can RP an escape attempt. This is the same thing that happened to Raif a few years back; he disappeared in the middle of a battle due to circumstances beyond his control, so his Sith was captured. When he came back, he was able to do an escape attempt with the Jedi.
  • The Fate of Darth Vereor. The suggestions that Darth Vereor was going to die were based on bluster rather than reality. It was never a feasible option. Vereor is in a fighter going 200mglt, while the Fang might as well be a winnebago with a flat tire. All Vereor would have to do is point the ship up and push the throttle forward, and he lives. Killing Vereor with the tactics that Shadow described would basically have been impossible.
  • The Fate of Arisalin's Characters. Arisalin was by the moon, so he was not in the direct line of fire. His characters are not dead, and they have escaped. If Arisalin intended to leave Imperial space, then we can consider his characters out of Imperial space.
  • The Fate of the Fang. This was a difficult decision, specifically because so many people put the fates of their characters into one person's hands on one ship. On the one hand, the escape plan for the Fang would've been simple enough. The NPC fighters could've formed an escort screen so the Fang could get out. That's escort tactics 101. If you put a bunch of fighters between the enemy and the thing the fighters are trying to protect, then the fighters will be destroyed but the VIP (in this case, the Fang) would be more likely to escape. But, we had to take Shadow's intent into account. Everything he said in the OOC, and what he was doing in the RP thread, indicated he was going to make a run at Darth Vereor. With that decision having been made, there was no longer any realistic chance of escape for the Fang. That means that the Fang is destroyed and DarthPlastic, Minuteman75, Pureblood-Sin, and ShadowWalker's characters were all killed.
I left the Fang part for last because I want to elaborate on that. I really, really hated making that decision. It was not done easily, and I tried to find a way out for the characters. But, Shadow's intent at going for Vereor was clear. I couldn't say they just randomly changed strategy and fled when all evidence was to the contrary.

After deciding that the escape mentioned above was not realistic, I tried to find out if there were escape pods on the Fang. My hope was to say that Shadow's characters are killed, but everyone else made it to escape pods. Not only would that have fit with the fact that Shadow was willing to sacrifice himself for the others, but it would have allowed me to make sure that only the person performing the suicidal strategy would lose their character. I didn't want everyone else to have to lose their characters as a result. Unfortunately, I see no evidence that the ship has escape pods. There is nothing about it on the Wookieepedia page for that type of ship, nor does the brief write up in Shadow’s character profile mention anything about escape pods.

At the risk of sounding like I'm criticizing Shadow, because I'm not, I think this should be a lesson for everyone. The RPers in question basically all put their characters' survival in the hands of one person. Even if that person is the best RPer ever, having one person control it all means that your character could very well have fewer chances for survival. It also means that only the RPing of that person is taken into account. Because of that, I couldn't really consider what the other RPers would have wanted. All I could take into account was Shadow's intent, and his intent was to go with a strategy that was ultimately suicidal.

This isn't something I normally say in rulings, but here goes: I am sorry. This was the only option at my disposal, but it was a shitty option and I'm sorry I had to make it. I hope that two big things can come out of this. First, I'm going to re-open the thread. Everyone gets to make one final post. Arisalin can post his escape. ShadowWalker can post the Fang being destroyed, and his characters deaths. Then DarthPlastic, Minuteman75, and Pureblood-Sin can all write their characters' deaths aboard the Fang. And then finally, Rom can make one last post detailing what happens to the planet. I hope that these posts are awesome.

The second thing I hope for is that everyone is able to accept what happened, move on, and continue RPing. You now have motivators to tell new stories, including stories where you can be some sort of resistance fighter - Mandalorian or otherwise - and really become part of the main storyline. Your preference I'm sure would have been to do that with your now-deceased characters, but sometimes character deaths can open new opportunities for you. At the very least, there are lessons from this thread that everyone can learn from and take into the rest of their RPing.

So that's that. This decision, while sad, is final, so please do not continue any arguments in this OOC thread. I will leave this open until everyone has had a chance to make one last post. I hope to see some kick ass final posts!

I understand Brandon. You do what you have to do, I respect that and I will learn from my mistakes in this whole thing. Though this is not the ideal death for my Mando character I had in mind for him but I will write my post on it to the best of my ability.

I'll wait to be the last Mandalorian character to post. Just wrap up Renelo's stuff in general for this thread. You all go ahead.

I beg of you that somebody posts Rom's parody of Rains of Castamere. It'd be cool to have continuity. Even if it's you, Rom.

The Bralors send their regards. And I mean that most sincerely.

You know that old Def Leppard song Rock of Ages; "Its better to burn out than to fade away..."

This case would happen to be more literal.

Since my arguments have been completely and totally discarded, I shall not be continuing in RPing here period. I am sorry but Brandon I do believe I sent a message to you as to why I felt aggrieved. Since you've taken that entire list of reasons and reasoning and discarded I see that I am not welcome here. As such I will do the smart thing, and remove myself. I see the fact that I am trying to debate here, and either they are not being listened to, or are just discounted because I am "inexperienced". Good day, I'll be getting my farewell thread together.

I'd work with Rom on that. I know he wanted to post something along those lines too. Maybe you can coordinate your posts, with his from the Sith perspective and yours from the Mandalorian perspective.

I'll send him a message about it via Skype. Maybe get a post of his and mine that connect.

would actually be really neat to see it like that or the narrative from one post actually bleeds into the other as a continuation , though veers to a different perspective the further into it it gets

I think Rom's theme would be this.

Arisalin, it's not that I do not see why this happened. It's that I definitely get the feeling, especially from what Rom and Jiang pulled together that they did not, what so ever want the Fang to have a chance to begin with. This is because when I posted that Destro had shut off multiple valves to kill the smaller of the four engines to keep the ship going, Rom said it wasn't enough, when Jiang had posted that indeed he'd scored hits on the engines. So then Rom overstepped his bounds and specifically stated the Fang would not be able to fly for much longer. That is why I became angered. He specifically stated something about a ship I had researched and knew the specs about. My speed would have been crippled, that does not mean she can't still fly. And since Jiang had not said one word about Rom overstepping his bounds, I see that he supported the view. That is why I feel wronged here Arisalin. Because an admin allowed for an "auto-kill". I shall not argue this further. My contact info is on my profile. You want to hear what else has driven me to this decision, go ahead and ask. But I will not tolerate an Admin telling me that when I downplayed something because my character could not tell the immediate effects of something, and so, lets another player blow the damage of his attack completely out of proportion.

Rom's post, whether it was correct or incorrect, had zero effect on the outcome of the decision. What we had to take into account was your intent, and your intent was to go on what amounts to a suicide run. There was no escape once you made that decision.

It's time to move on. Thank you.

Honestly, if you're going to ragequit, then ragequit, man. Don't use this OOC - which is for a thread that is still yet to conclude - as some sort of last soapbox to stand on. Let those who still want to contribute to discuss their contributions and wrap up their stories.
