Effective immediately, I have ordered a formal review of all main factions and all independent factions. It is painfully obvious that there are issues that need to be worked out in terms of defenses, bases, security, etc. in both main and indie factions, and I’m not willing to let this problem get worse in the hopes it magically works itself out. It won't.
I have placed Boli (White Ranger) in charge of this review. He won’t review every single faction, but he’ll oversee the reviews of these factions and he’ll create the standards by which to review them—one of them being, for example, actually adhering to the independent faction rules and guidelines. Main factions will also be judged on whether defenses are too restrictive in a RPing environment and whether those defenses are realistic.
No new indie factions will be approved for use until this review is completed either.
Because of the nature of this review, I am also ordering that all attacks and battles not currently in progress freeze until the review is finished. The attack on the Imperial Knights and the Padawan vs. Acolyte skirmish, for example, can continue, but attacks and battles not already in progress cannot take place until I say they can. That applies to all factions, main and indie.
Right now, the only two battles and attacks that can continue are the Sith attack on the Imperial Knights and the Padawan vs. Acolyte skirmish. Attacks that CANNOT happen during this time include bombings, hit and runs against ships, space battles, ground battles, etc.
The only acceptable form of attack right now are skirmishes, akin to the Padawan vs. Acolyte skirmish.
If you were planning something and it’s not the Sith attack on the Imperial Knights, the Padawan vs. Acolyte skirmish, or some other form of skirmish like the aforementioned one, it CANNOT happen until I tell you that the battle freeze has been lifted. There is no wiggle room in that, and no leeway. Any attacks, battles, bombings, etc. that occur before this freeze is lifted will be voided and tossed out.
This may be a bit of a culture shock to some people who have only been with us for a year or two, or even less. Our standards for independent factions lately have become far too lax, and we haven’t kept a close enough eye on their creation, expansion, and RP development to make sure it’s valid and acceptable. The one thing people need to remember is that indie factions are not main factions, so realistically an indie faction is never going to be near the IC level of a main faction. You need to adjust your expectations for indie factions accordingly.
As for the main factions, there’s an over-prevalent amount of security that’s being put in place. That’s understandable given the covert attacks that have taken place on temples and ships, but the amount of security that’s been put in place can sometimes be restrictive and not really conducive to a RPing environment. This will all be reviewed.
So to recap:
1. All main and indie factions will be given a full review by the staff, and no new indie factions will be approved for use until this is done.
2. All attacks and battles not currently in progress will freeze until the review is completed. Main factions, therefore, will receive the most attention first, given their central place in the timeline (but indie reviews will happen at the same time).
3. The only two battles and attacks approved to continue during this battle freeze are the Sith attack on the Imperial Knights and the Padawan vs. Acolyte duel. Further skirmishes, but nothing else, are acceptable.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know. Thanks!
