Axel was born on board a cargo ship to a single mother who was ready to get rid of him the moment she could. While most of the crew hated the idea of having another mouth to feed, their helmsman, a man named Quentin, offered to care for the child and would use his own earnings to cover for the child. The mother readily agreed and the captain let the child stay aboard for as long as they had their helmsman. Without Quentin, the boy would either have to fend for himself or be thrown out if he was of no use.

As soon as he had the mental capacity to follow directions and do simple tasks, Axel was put to work. He was able to get into small spaces no one else could to fix things, so that’s what he learned how to do first. When he was about thirteen, he started getting a little too big for that so he wanted to learn how to do something else: fly. Quentin was basically his father and for all his life, Axel wanted to be just like him so naturally learning to be a pilot or helmsman is what he wanted to do most. Quentin decided Axel was old enough to learn and he began to teach him to fly.

As the years had passed, the crew got used to having Axel around. In fact, the main crew that stayed aboard became like his family. The second most important person to Axel was the captain, who was like the fun uncle. When he was fourteen, the captain taught him how to use a blaster so that he could defend himself later on. By the time he was sixteen, Axel was able to identify and fix many problems on the ship, he could fly pretty well, and he was able to defend the ship in case someone attacked. He was only a teenager, but he was an important part of the crew.

One day, while on a supply run to Nar Shaddaa, they were attacked by pirates. Axel was a part of a boarding party that ended up clearing out the entire ship, though suffering heavy casualties. When they got back to their ship, they realized they had been boarded as well, but the attack didn’t do significant damage...except that their captain and helmsman had been killed in the fight. When they arrived on Nar Shaddaa, not many were willing to step up and be the captain of their vessel except for Axel. Most of them didn’t want to take orders from a child, but some recognized his skill and stayed aboard. He enlisted some help and chose a first mate from the crew that remained, but decided to take the helm himself.

From the start he had a shaky relationship with the new part of his crew. Within only a few months, his first mate, vying for power, rallied over half of his crew against Axel. He was forced to surrender and anyone who followed him was taken into custody. When they arrived at their next stop, Corellia, Axel and his six loyal crew members were kicked off the ship. And that was that.

With the credits they still had left, they bought a light freighter and got enough goods to turn a small profit. It was a rough start, but eventually they had enough money to have decent lives again. As a result of having to trade so much, Axel learned how to charm, bribe, and lie his way out of situations. Every now and again they would smuggle illegal goods, almost getting caught only a few times.

Four years later, while docked at the crime ridden planet Nar Shaddaa, they ran into some familiar faces. They recognized the ship that Axel had called home for sixteen years, but didn’t see the former first mate that cast them aside. They set up a fake meeting with their captain in a remote location and Axel had three members accompany him and left the other three on board. It didn’t take long for the captain to take the bait and when he showed up, Axel had one of his less recognizable crew members meet up with him. The turncoat had brought five members along, but Axel stayed hidden to give them the upper hand. A few minutes into the meeting, Axel opened fire which signaled his crew members to do the same thing. They finished off all of them except for the captain, which Axel saved for last, looking him dead in the eyes before killing him. Once the deed was done, they all left the planet immediately before the bodies were found.

A few years have passed since then and most of his crew members have moved on. Axel got bored of doing the same old jobs, which caused him to find jobs doing more exciting things such as collecting bounties or just being a gun for hire. Axel had learned to do anything as long as the price made it worth the trouble. But he doesn’t like to act like a ruthless killer. He finds it easier to take nothing seriously and to be as likeable as possible. The most important thing for Axel is to get the job done and get paid. No matter what it takes.
    • Axel is at an average height of 5’8 with a slim build. He has curly black hair and a clean-shaven face. He has dark brown eyes and normally wears a light brown jacket and black pants. When able, he wears two pistols in holsters on each side of his hip, but if he needs to, he’ll hide one in his jacket and leave the other behind.

Axel likes displaying his weapons whenever he can to show that he isn't to be trifled with. However, he knows that at times the weapons must be concealed unless he wants to get caught. His charm helps him to be more alluring to most people which is complimented by, what he thinks at least, his attractive looks.

    • Part of the reason he warmed up to the crew so quickly as a child was because he was friendly. He wasn’t the type to stay attached to his father, but instead he wanted to get to know everyone. He was interested in what people had to say, who they were, where they came from, what their jobs were and so much more. However, his father would always tell him to not trust everyone who came on board their ship. The only ones he should ever put blind faith in is fellow crew members and even that could prove to be dangerous. Axel learned a valuable lesson that gaining people’s trust would be a difficult thing in this world, but very useful.

After Axel dealt with the man who betrayed him, he started to distance himself emotionally. Betraying people became easier for him and killing isn’t really an issue for him. However, he makes sure not to show that side of him if possible. The front that he puts up for people is a charismatic, friendly person that he uses to get on people’s good sides. There are few people left in the entire galaxy who he acts genuine in front of. Nowadays, everything seems to just be about business.
