Bajpa Kalsine

"I use to check my room for monsters until I learned they were inside of me."

I'd known I was late, had I known who my comrades were, I might have actually cared. I hadn't meant to be late, it happens.
What I remember well was walking in to that pissed-off Kushari who was armed to the fangs from combat knives to explosives, and who knows what else. Though her helm hid her entire face I could feel her eyes burrowing into me. Tearing me apart however she pleased to do it. She was dangerous, and I knew right then that she was going to make me regret taking longer to drink my tea earlier that morning. If that be by her knocking it out of me, or by simply making me feel bad. I asked her if an apology was needed and she told me she liked 'stability' in her life and I was messing with it. Understandable. Then there was the other guy, he didn't care one way or another, I at least showed. He was happy enough with that. Being the good guy I am, I apologised and she told me she might consider. This is when I began regretting my tea.

You'd think going out and shedding blood together would make people like each other more, or at least attempt some kind of trust or bond. Not with this feline, she wasn't having it and she made it clear to me I wasn't welcome. Before we had left she told me one more thing,

"Put a knife in my back and I'll put a gun to your head."

After that I didn't say a word until after we arrived. I told her my idea, she growled it was stupid. The other guy provided no opinion. Though I'll deny saying this if anyone ever finds out about what I'm going to tell you, he was smarter than I was, he didn't question her at all or argue, he followed her orders and in the end I think that's what kept him alive for so long. But, on to our spat on tactic- with her being a woman, I had been fine with her attitude, but questioning my tactical skill just wasn't going to go over well with me. "You're questioning my judgement?" was what I asked her but she responded saying she wasn't questioning. She knew for fact it was stupid. Now that I look back on it, I'll admit, maybe it was a little stupid. She still didn't need to be so harsh, it sounded good at the time. This is probably why she was in charge of the mission, not me.

We hadn't even made it to the site and I'd felt like I made an enemy with one of my comrades. I'd like to think that she trusted me, but when I brought it up she smoothly told me;

"Keeping the truth from those closest to you is how you survive."

That told me two things; she didn't trust me, and she wasn't going to.

Something tells me that Bajpa didn't have much a childhood, if any at all. She was young when this mission took place, very young, yet she trumped me in maturity without a second opinion needed. I've yet to see what she looks like, she'd never once taken that helm from her head. She'd removed her gauntlet once and that was the most of her body I saw. She was a pain in the tail but she was good at what she did. She was confident in her abilities and our chances of successfully clearing the warehouse of the pirates, it radiated onto us.

We'd all taken different vantage points to attack from. Bajpa declined my request to let me be the first wave to 'bring the rain', and took it instead. She told me I'd come in last, I wasn't happy about it. She took her place on the ground floor, I took mine by the entrance, the other guy took his just beyond the ramp that was between where Bajpa and I had been located.
After seeing Bajpa beam me three times, we began our count down.
You all know the rest of the story from there. I messed up. Instead of following the plan, I thought I'd try and be cool. I got that kid shot and she had to cover his position, hers and yell at me. Did a fine job of it. She's got a colourful vocabulary, I'd learned some new words that day to top it all off. Pirates were taken out, location secured, but the kid hadn't made it if that's any indication as to how bad I messed up. I'd gotten shot and patched up, but it didn't replace him. Today, I still can't bring myself to say his name.
I learned following this that Bajpa actually might have feelings that extend farther than self-perseverance. She knew I was blaming myself, she blamed me too.

"The universe doesn't always play fair, but that doesn't mean drowning yourself in shots."

Don't take my word on that being what she said, I was pretty messed up about then...
After that night, I heard from her only one more time. Just once. It was a month after that pirate clearing.
The thought of killing a comrade was still fresh in my mind. Each day I watched him die, the memory scratching at the back of my mind as each moment passes. I'd not been paying attention when the female and I collided, she could see my pain. She could smell it, she could very likely have even heard it in the uneven beating of my heart. Bajpa asked me what was wrong. The kid... More was expected of me and I'd failed. She didn't like me, now she hated me.

"I don't like you because once you start liking someone, you start expecting things from them."

To this I almost laughed and told her I liked her better when she was bitter, so she punched me and that was the last time I ever saw the Kushari. It seems rather appropriate knowing that was the end of our communication.

Though her Kith is the Najyr, she was born for war. I'd guess it is her desire to protect that's shaped her. She threw away her chance at living a peaceful life with her family and kith to fight for them. I've only ever asked her once why she picked war over peace,

“Nobody should suffer for other's mistakes.”

I'd say it was understandable. Without the Kushari militant forces, chaos would surely erupt. It's hard to think of our people not having our defenses.
Bajpa is an interesting creature. I don't know if she feels like other beings feel. She doesn't let her feelings show. She feels, she just feels differently. Love isn't like what you and I think of 'love' as being to Bajpa. Not just love, but any emotion really.
She loves her fellow Kushari in her own way and in regards to her emotions, I'd heard her say something about it before. I'd been passing through and heard a comrade ask her about how she can be so at ease during practice and during actual fighting,

“Once you start with emotions, your target's emotions become an object. Once they become more than just targets, you hesitate. You can't hesitate.”

On a walk with my mate through the city I'd spotted Bajpa helping a small group of children. Later she was playing childish games with them. I, nor my mate, believed for an instant that it was Bajpa with the small children. The blue eyed kushari with a lovely smile she refused to show would only let children see it. When they were absent, she instantly became a warrior with a helm that hid her smile and eyes from the world, a warrior whose sense of duty and honour couldn't be shaken and would end all opposition. It is as if she was two different people. The Najyr Kushari and the Fearless Warrior. The helm she wears isn't just to protect her from attack, but a mask from the kushari she use to be and is trying to bury away.
Beyond other bits of common knowledge, that's the best I can give you. She's fighting a war with herself. I can't tell you her hobbies, or about her past. All I can tell you is she is smart and good at what she does.

In Progress.

Alchamy sat alone in a horseshoe booth, she had a small glass of some alcohol she was sure she didn’t want to know the name of but the cat said it’d be well worth it to try.
That contact still isn’t here…

The red-haired woman glared around the cantina, that slimy bastard was bound to be around here somewhere. She and the fully armoured Kushari, who stood a safe distance away at the bar, had caught each other’s gazes, neither strayed for too long nor even seemed to acknowledge the other’s presence. Thankfully, Bajpa was smart enough to not order anything strong or more than one drink- her past as an alcoholic loved to raise its ugly head at the worst of times and right now would be one of those ‘worst of times’ that they wanted to avoid. The cat never removed her helm, only lifting her visor to sip from her drink every few minutes. She was scantly engaged in some idle chatter with two other bar patrons, and Alchamy continued to sit alone in a booth meant for at least five and all she needed was the one contact.

She hesitantly held up the drink Bajpa had ordered her from the bar twenty minutes ago, the pristine blue liquid was moving slightly with the vibrations of the music that played through the cantina and echoed through Alchamy’s body. She took a small sip and immediately regret it. “Oh! No! Just! No! That is foul!” she bellowed, slamming the drink glass down in a huff, spilling a few droplets in her fit of anger at the drink. A man from the bar let out a loud hearty laugh that reminded her of Yuri, she looked up in surprise, hoping to spot the ex-gladiator that she’d not seen for what felt like decades now. It was just a bounty hunter, nothing of interest to her especially now while she was working. She would allow this contact five more minutes, if he did not arrive at that point then he can kiss their contract goodbye.

Bajpa tapped at her watch a minute later, identifying that she too was becoming impatient with this waiting game. Alchamy sat back in her booth and signaled they would allow four more minutes of time. Alchamy could feel the Kushari roll her eyes and return to her drink. Alchamy listened closer to the patrons of the bar, hoping to pick up the man’s laugh again. Bajpa’s normally strict and very cold demeanour was normally broken easily by Yuri, the Kushari needed that now and then. As she continued to her thoughts, a male Zeltron slid into the booth next to Alchamy. He wrapped his arm around Alchamy’s shoulder as if he knew her. She wanted to glare at him but smiled instead. “You’re rather late.” She stated bluntly.

“Traffic, excuse me, my Alderaanian Beauty.” He purred, moving closer to her until he felt a tinge of pain in his thigh. The Zeltron looked down to see the woman had a small combat knife pulled and was pressed lightly against his skin.

“Excused.” She purred back, pushing herself away from him and batting her eyes. "I already play house with someone else, we, however, are playing convince me. Spill.” Alchamy caught sight of Bajpa who had about threw herself up in arms but had calmed once the two had parted from each other and Alchamy was reclined back in the booth with a smile on her face and twirling her drink nonchalantly.

Let the negotiations begin.

Bajpa had not bothered to watch the two, this was Alchamy’s realm and thanks to the training the Alderaanian received from Yuri and herself years ago the small woman was now at least comfortable with pulling that combat knife she carried around every so often. It was an impressive feat for the girl and her tough act carried a little weight to help in the negotiations now and then, though having a six foot sentient bipedal tigress as her companion was also helpful. Bajpa still secretly wished Alchamy would just completely deck a guy. Just once. The Kushari highly doubted she would live to see that. The Zeltron and Alchamy who had been glaring each other down and arguing for the better part of a half hour finally smiled, both exiting the booth and shaking hands. Alchamy retrieved her drink and walked up to the bar, the Zeltron leaving the cantina entirely. Alchamy crossed her arms over the bar top and slid her drink to Bajpa. “Foul substance.” Bajpa cackled from behind her helm, her visor kicking up as she tossed back the ‘foul substance’ without a second thought.

“Looks like things went well. You even shook his hand.” She noted aloud, keeping her visor up and staring at her long-time friend. Time had tempered Alchamy so much from what she had been when they first met nearly twelve years ago. The girl who once saw the galaxy through rose-coloured glasses now saw everything for what it truly was. She knew not everything could be solved by just words any longer. Neither of them would have a simple mediocre civilian life that both secretly thought of now and then, it wasn’t for them they knew that. The two women were always on the move, always moving from job to job. Bajpa knew Alchamy wanted to at least stay in one system for more than a year before jumping to another now and then, but it felt like such an unobtainable goal. They made enough money to sit down for some time and Alchamy had access to her family's decently impressive accounts, but money wasn’t indefinite and the two could never find work they both agreed. So, they travelled and for the most part they enjoyed each day of it. They were proud of how far they had come. But… some days…

“Apparently we are taking a trip to Dressel.” Alchamy smiled widely at her Kushari companion. For a girl who had spent the entire morning today complaining about how they moved around too much, she sure seemed pretty happy about it.

“Dressel?” No wonder negotiations went so well. Dressel is just on the edge of Hutt territory. Something tells me that we’re going to do a few detours for this one. Bajpa pat Alchamy on the back, the girl wincing in pain at the rough contact. “You’re something, kiddo, now let’s get out of here before we get swept off our feet by some Drunk Merc in a flight suit and we trick him into thinking he’s your amnesic husband.” She laughed, watching Alchamy visibly blush and grumble ‘That happened once…’ and slink from the bar, the duo making their way through the crowds and out of the cantina. Today was just another day.

'Zeal' is a modified compact assault rifle who is optimal for close-quarter combat operations. Her primary method of operation is the rotary bolt locking mech and has internal threading that is used to secure the muzzle. The hand-guards were developed specifically for the carbine of the rifle, with rear sights and sliding notch on a ramp as well as front sight post on an insert. She sports a slightly longer barrel than other models to accommodate the modified gas block. Though she is far from the best, she is Bajpa's favoured weapon for her durability, accuracy, and reliability.

Technical:
Caliber: 5.56mmx45mm
Range: 400m
Magazine: up to 30 rounds
Firing Rate: 700 rounds/min.
Ammunition: 5.56mm
Favoured three-round burst
If, by the unlikely chance Zeal is not present, Bajpa has access to an sidearm on her at all times. Beyond basic maintenance, this sidearm is rarely touched and isn't modified.
It is believed Bajpa carries five explosives at all times (the type depends on the operation), one combat dagger which she wears on her chest, two hidden knives among her person (possibly more), a throwing ax (that is not always present), and a dartcaster in her right gauntlet, beyond this not much else is known. This could very likely be all of Bajpa's arsenal, but this is not definitive.
