Born on the unforgiving, inhospitable world of Sriluur, Banu has always known a life of adversity. Like most Weequay, his childhood consisted of learning the necessary survival skills to live among Sriluur's unending wastelands, rocky canyons, and dangerous beasts, as well as the teachings of the complex religion of his people. Even as a youngling, he showed promise as a warrior and excelled in the teachings of his clan elders.
In a cruel twist of fate, the young Weequay was 'rewarded' for his display of natural talent by being given over to the Hutt Kajidics - the true Gods of Sriluur - as a slave to 'honor' the god, Quay. Banu was but eight years old when the Hutt's took him, alongside many other children, to Nal Hutta. It was there he began service to his true masters, although throughout it all he clung to the beliefs of his people. He began as a cup bearer for one of the lesser clans, serving drinks in his first master's throne room; eventually he was sold to a far more violent owner, who had him beaten each time he failed to meet the Hutt's impossible standards of behavior. Thought useless, he was given over as a gift to the gladiator pits of yet another Kajidic with a morbid taste for younger fighters. By 13, he had made his first kill in service to the Cartel within that very arena; the Hutt who'd owned him noted his prowess, favoring him and eventually, after several more years of service, brought him out of the pits and offered him in service to the Desilijic Kajidii as a capable, obedient warrior.
For years, he served the Kajidic without question, finding his faith again in that time to cope with the stress of the atrocities he was ordered to commit. Seeing him as little more than a token of little value, after 15 years a slave, Banu was released from his 'service to Quay'; however, having few skills outside of the life he'd known with the Cartel, he chose to stay on Nal Hutta, becoming a mercenary-for-hire, bodyguard, and general thug - calling himself simply by 'Weequay' up until this point, he took up the personal name Banu Yab-Kree, and traveled to other Hutt-controlled worlds including Kintan, Vodran, Toydaria, and even Saki where he became wiser to the galaxies multitude of cultures. It was this new life as a gun-for-hire that guided him to becoming a better man - during a job gone wrong on Tatooine, he was critically injured and left near-dead on the border of the Jundland Wastes. He would almost certainly have died on that ball of sand if it were not for his rescue at the hands of a total stranger, a Twi'lek woman named Aesa'lona.
When Banu finally came to under her care, he was almost instantly infatuated with her; even once he was healed, he chose to stay on Tatooine, abandoning his life of crime to pursue the gorgeous, strong-willed Twi'lek. With some persistence, he was eventually able to persuade Aesa'lona to marry him and even adopted her son, Jin'rayiit. For a time, the former slave-turned-gladiator-turned-mercenary lived peacefully with his new family; the strength that he'd once used to run intimidation for the Hutts and his hardy constitution quickly adapted and lent themselves to the simple life of a moisture farmer, and save for the occasional harassment of Tuskens and a little extra protection on the way to market, the weapons of his old life stayed safely locked away. They lived happily together, content to just be together, and at points visited both Banu's home clan on Sriluur and Aesa'lona's sister on Ryloth.
That was, until Banu's past caught up with him.
Though he would never speak openly of it to anyone, the Weequay remembers well that day; he had woken up early to load the moisture-canisters into the cargospeeder, and when finished, kissed his wife, promising to make it back in time for lunch, then headed off to make their living. When he returned several hours later, in a bit of a rush as he was running late, he looked forward to Aesa'lona's cooking and had intended to take Jin'rayiit out to the cliffs to start learning how to shoot. His good mood soon turned to horror as his home came into view, however; the trail of smoke rising into the dusty air soon became a column of acrid fumes as he rushed towards his home. On the sand, laying in an already dried pool of blood, his beloved wife lay dead from a vibro-blade wound to the gut, the deep color clashing with her white skin. Jin'rayiit had been kneeling next to her, sobbing uncontrollably. It would have been, in a word, heart-wrenching had anyone else been there to see it.
For the sake of his now-motherless son, Banu pulled himself together and was eventually able to coax the story of what had happened out of Jin'rayiit; several men had arrived on speeder bikes a few hours after Banu had left, demanding to know his whereabouts. When Aesa'lona declined, Jin'rayiit said they had hurt her - badly. Yet, she held up, somehow getting hold of one of their weapons and killing one of the thugs before dragging Jin'rayiit out of the home by the hand and attempting to steal a speeder to escape. Before they could, however, she had been caught and stabbed; the creature responsible, a large lizard-man with one eye, had turned on Jin'rayiit but was stopped by another of the attackers, instead leaving the boy with the swollen eye he now wore from a vicious backhand.
Banu, inconsolable himself but maintaining a facade of stoicism, gathered what little remained from his home; his weapons, his armor, what few valuables he could find, and a small holo-frame that stored the picture from the day he and Aesa'lona had gotten engaged. After bartering away the valuables to pay for a series of shuttle passes, he first went to Ryloth, where he left Jin'rayiit with his aunt. It had taken everything in him to walk away from that house, gritting his teeth to block out the cries of his adoptive son and living reminder of what he'd lost.
Banu allowed himself to shed more than a few tears on the shuttle flight to Nal Hutta.
Determined to find those responsible for his wife's death, Banu has returned to the fold of the Hutt Cartel in hope's that he might gather information through the underworld, either through leads found in service to the Kajidics or by other means. For the first time, he held rank as a Basadi; he planned to whet his diminished skills on bounty hunting and smaller jobs until the time came that a promising tip on his wife's killer came to light.

Somewhat morose, the weight of guilt Banu feels due to the death of his wife is constant, causing him to seem closed off much of the time. That said, he is generally courteous and well-mannered to those he meets, which comes as a surprise to most of those whom have met other Weequay. While it can take some work to get him to open up, he is happy to talk to others as a distraction from his constant focus on the death of his wife, and gladly imparts some of his learned wisdom from over the years to those who ask. He also has a penchant for children and animals, and while friends are a rare commodity due to his inner turmoil, he appreciates them even more for it wherever they can be found.
Brave, perhaps a bit due to a hidden lack of regard for his own person, Banu is disciplined in battle and prefers to take bounties alive and complete jobs with as minimal loss of life as possible. However, he reserves a special mercilessness and loathing for those responsible for the loss of Aesa'lona, and if someone manages to trigger that deep-seated rage, he can become as murderous as a rancor.
