...2014? But the last game only came out less than half a year ago. They're still making DLC for the damn thing.

Though, watching through it again, I'm actually unsure if this is made to be a midquel between Origins and Arkham Asylum (which it could seem aesthetic wise - ie, it looks like a 'Batman in his prime' kind of deal), or perhaps a sequel to City. Batmobile's replaced even though Origins clearly depicted the one from Asylum being built, Harley Quinn is working for someone other than the Joker, and the suit seems more advanced (though its been noted previously that Bruce simplified the suit as well, to explain Origins).

Well the last one wasn't made by Rocksteady, the last game they made (City) came out in 2011. So they've had their time to work on it.

Also I'm fairly certain it'll take place after City, they talk about how this is their Definitive Conclusion.

I'm sure part of the reason for coming out with a new game so quickly is that Origins came out right before the Xbox1 and PS4. So they lost money on people like me who sold their Xbox to get a PS4 and had no way to play the game. They also lost money on people who bought a new system and couldn't afford to buy a game for the old system (if they kept it). From all the effects it looks like this game was made with the PS4 and X1 in mind, I wouldn't be too surprised if this is a short, not-so-great game made for the sole purpose of appeasing those who bought next-gen consoles and were disappointed they couldn't get Origins.

Why can't they make Batman movies like this?

Neat, I shall contain my excite for the release though. I don't like to get excite over trailers.

I don't think hollywood takes adaptations of non-books seriously, or show the type of respect to the spirit of the source material in favor of changing as much as possible to make it more "relevant" to the movie going audience.

I wonder what extra characters they'll throw into the Pre-order this time.

Meh.

CG trailers are pretty to look at and everything, and I get that it's Rocksteady returning, but without gameplay details or footage I'm very whelmed by the whole thing.

It's hard to disagree with Kaeb. These CGI trailers are essentially a separate project from their showcase games entirely: they have ballooning (and discrete) budgets, production teams, etc. It's hard to not impress with a trailer like this because it essentially relies on franchise interest, a captive audience, and kewl visuals.

Which are ultimately meaningless in terms of what it tells us about the game. Is Kevin Conroy returning? Have they fixed and refined issues from Origins? What is the story? Is this an interquel or a midquel? What kind of new challenges can we expect?

Remember, the Origins CGI trailer was very cool, and the game ultimately ended up being a great disappointment. At the same time, there's a lot we don't know about the game yet, so overall I'm reserving judgment, but I certainly don't begrudge or blame people for being warier --or more excited-- than I am.

Stray observations:

- Scarecrow at the beginning? Hint of a sequel.
- But then 70s Goombah Penguin hints at a midquel or something else entirely; he does have the monocle though, if you look closely.
- Harvey Dent does seem youngerish than he did in City, but that could just be a quirk of the CGI
- Don't care for Harley's redesign. Granted, I've never cared for her Arkham design in the first place, but at least there was more of a design coherency to the last one; there's a few disparate elements here that I caught.
- Hints that we'll be able to use the Batmobile, finally?
- No Joker. EXCELLENT.
- Then again, no Joker in the last release trailer.

They confirmed the Bat mobile is drivable, this is the conclusion to the Arkham series, and that was indeed Scarecrow in the beginning. I also hope Joker stays dead, same with Strange, Talia and Ras. I want to see Dick and Tim in action though.

The actual title is bleh.

Arkham Falls would've been 'cooler'.

If this ends up essentially becoming GTA : Gotham, then I might become interested but that would also only be if they introduce new and impressive gameplay elements as well. Yes they nailed the fighting mechanics in the first game, but what new things can they introduce to keep the series fresh and interesting beyond it's obvious fan appeal?
