Aliyah Coven

Allegiance: Jedi Order
Species:
Twi'lek
Age: 23
Height: 5'10" Weight: 128lbs
The Call - Regina Spector

Overview
A young Twi'lek from Ryloth, Aliyah spent many of her former years as a slave. She was rescued by a member of the Jedi Order, thanks to her kindled force sensitivity, and taken to the nearest temple. Since then, she has devoted herself to aiding those whom had similar lots in life.

Biography

I don't remember much more than a few friendly faces, a stone-cold bed and a pitiful amount of food. I learned to speak and write, so as to be useful for copying or forging documentation. Menial chores and labor where common for us, as well as strange and unusual tasks most likely designed simply to emotionally and mentally torture us.

Even then, however, I was one of the lucky ones. As a child, I was never chosen for some of the darker tasks the slavemasters desired. As I grew older, however, that began to change, used in turn as a dancer for spare credits. It was a humbling life, being raised from nothing. I've never found out what happened to my parents. I was told they left me, but I don't believe it.

One day, everything just seemed to change. It was the same routine, as always. Wake up to work, by evening I was to be ready to dance. But something felt wrong, I felt a deep and profound anger rising inside me. It wasn't until the familiar catcalls rained from patrons mouths that I truly lost control...

I don't know how I made the room tremble. I don't know how I tore aside a metal table and hurled it into a wall. But I do know that my actions stemmed from an hungering fire deep within. If it wasn't for The Jedi (I will put a PC here), who sensed my distress and bought me from my owners, I had little doubt I'd have been killed or worse. I wanted to go back for the rest of them, but I was told there was nothing to be done. One Jedi, no matter how powerful, could not dismantle the entire slave ring overnight.

The Jedi took me to a strange world, filled with lush forests and massive temples. There he introduced me to the ways of his Order. Mighty warriors of a mystical energy known as the Force. He and his peers where a marvelous sight, and I knew from that moment on this home was a place for me. I took to studying all that I could, training in all aspects of the Jedi Religion, as much as they could teach me. But my training has only just begun.

One Jedi cannot topple a slave ring overnight. But given a year or two, I'll most certainly start making dents.

And that's only the beginning.

Powers and Abilities
  • The Force
Aliyah has developed a respectable amount of skill in the basics of the Force. She has begun comprehensive training in the art of telekinesis, able to lift small objects through sheer effort. Her Force Skills are otherwise centered around herself, from gentle bursts of speed to kinetic bursts of energy.

Her brief tap into the well of the Dark Side instilled a healthy fear of it's hunger. She thought on what drew her rage, seeking guidance from those around her. Finding inner peace would be a lifelong challenge, but she has endured.
  • Combat
Aliyah began with the simplest and most versatile of lightsaber forms, Sii-Cho. The scripts provided at the temple where sufficient in teaching theory.

Aliyah can use a blaster as well as anyone can. That is to say, she isn't particularly gifted and has had next to no practice. No slave is ever allowed to touch a weapon, although sticks did substitute as toy swords. Her understanding of most blasters is simple; point and shoot.
  • Skills
Even as a child, she was useful for the forging of notes or thieving of items. Her skills are not nearly used as often anymore, but she will use them if necessary. Although she is unable to fly a starship, she can use land speeders or similar vehicles.

She can also be quite seductive under select circumstances. More useful in her past, it's not a trick she employs often at all. With that, however, comes a good deal of false charisma. She is able to talk her way into or out of most situations, only breaking to timidity when pushed too far.
  • Misc.
    Inventory:
    Lightsaber (Blue)
    Jedi Robes

Aliyah currently does not own any starships or droids.

PLOT STUFF
(Not using BBCode just in case)

1. What is going to happen in your plot?

My character, Aliyah, will begin to travel the Galaxy with a new and mysterious companion. Venatus (RPed by @Aurius Pheonix) has agreed to help her. They will train together and improve Aliyah's lightsaber skills, form a master-apprentice bond that would be looked down upon by the Order. Aliyah will help Venatus build his own lightsaber. Finally, their friendship and loyalties will be put to the test as a member of the Order seeks to put Venatus down for "corrupting" Aliyah's pure Jedi thoughts.

2. What other players will be a part of this?

@Aurius Pheonix. We are still trying to find a willing Jedi to PvP against (otherwise we can use an NPCs). @TheMorrigan might be joining us on a thread or two when his character is accepted.

3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?
Aliyah's Starship, Nar Shaddaa, The Vale, Ilum

4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.
Prologue: After the events of Break The Chain, Aliyah and Venatus have saved and returned the captives to their families. They agree to work together, and Venatus begins training Aliyah what he can within the starship, as she teaches him how to pilot and handle a blaster (Friendly PvP, social).

Chapter 1: Aliyah and Venatus return to the Outer Rim world of Rhen Var, as he teaches her to hone her Force Senses. Going from a seedy bar, they track a would-be murderer down. Venatus will then instruct her to decide his fate; kill him or spare him, which morally challenges her. Some more lessons would be learned. (PvE, Social)

Chapter 2: Venatus' mentorship is paused as the Aliyah takes him to the crystal caves of Ilum, to construct his first lightsaber. (Social)

Chapter 3: Suspicious and insulted by Venatus' teaching methods, a member of the Order will either attempt to stop or kill him. Once the Jedi discovers he had built his lightsaber on a Jedi world, Aliyah would also be questioned. (PvP)

5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?
Strengthen a lasting relationship between two PCs
Learn how to fight and use the Force in battle
Learn more about the Dark and Light Sides
Build a Mentor-Pupil dynamic between two PCs
Cause Aliyah to question the loyalties of the Jedi, her newfound friend, and her own morality.

6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member?
Not that I can tell, no.

She twitched again. Fifth time in the last five minutes. Aliyah couldn't seem to find a comfortable way to sit in this damned cage. Growing gently frustrated, she began to calm herself.

Patience. Yes. That's the key. Just be patient

These Zygerrian slavers had been causing trouble in this side of the rim for months. Growing bolder and bolder, they went from capturing hapless vehicles to attacking civilian transports.

Of course, attacking their slave Empire directly was suicide. So, Aliyah devised a plan to be captured sans her lightsaber. Venatus had hesitantly agreed, taking her weapon and waiting for her tracking signal.

Aliyah paused as a young redhead was dragged into the room. Even from this distance, she could tell woman was only stunned. She didn't stay that way for long, rising quickly only to run from her Kel'dor cellmate. They exchanged words, and she got frustrated. She calmly held her tongue as the two guards left the room.

"Hey! You, ginger. Be patient. We'll be off this boat in just a few minutes."

She squeezed the button tightly, sending the signal to Venatus that it was time to take out the trash.

Form VIII: Heima lachna
The Way of the Guard and Blade
Written by both Aurius and Autumn

THIS
SkeletalBeautifulAlbino-max-1mb.gif

NOT THIS
8WH1-V.gif

This lightsaber form is specialized for force-users who prefer weapons with a guard if not just a sword outright. It is a compilation of all studied sword techniques, reworked to be used in conjunction with lightsaber combat, force manipulation, and even Jar'kai. The manual is constructed to be able to teach a user the basic functions of the Form while providing detailed counters to most of the opposing forms. The way of the guard and blade has been passed down from teacher to teacher, developed across the galaxy over thousands of years. And it's practitioners are warriors, to be respected and feared.

Remember that when you meet your antagonist,
to do everything in a mild agreeable manner.
Let your courage be keen, but, at the same time, as polished as your sword.

More important than even the weapon of a swordsman is his attitude when engaging foes and friends alike. To truly gain mastery over anything in life, you must first master your own inhibitions. This is also the truth in all aspects of combat and principle. Practitioners of Heima lachna are expected to uphold a certain level of civility and regality in the face of even the most pressing odds. The lack of said virtues will lend to ill-temper and loss of control - all things that doom a man in battle.

And if you should encounter one who does not follow these practices, they are to be reminded of their duty. In blood, if necessary.

It is always important to respect your foes and their weapons. Rendering a formal salute (by bringing your hilt's guard to eye level, flush with your nose and held skyward, before using a sweeping motion downward) is customary before engaging one's opponent. Unless one is ambushed, in which case this is unnecessary and not recommended.

Like your weapon is trained, so too should you train your mind to think ahead. Every movement must flow in continual succession, with the intention of striking not at - but through your target. The only time a swordsman stops moving in combat is when he has struck his foe, and even then it is for seconds at most before renewing their guard. Be sure to strike for an opponent's hilt if a strike to their body is protected, as you can easily change guards and disarm in the process.

Chapter 1: The Weapon

I am the sword, deadly against all weapons.
Neither spear nor polearm,
nor dagger can prevail against me.

It is said that a warrior's sword is their life. This tenant must find it's foundations in reality, as almost any swordsman will swear by none the same. The blade becomes so entwined with your body that it acts not only as an extension of your arm but of your will itself.

QU3U3

DIRECTIVE: Independant ♦ MODEL: QU3 Prototype ♦ AGE: ?? ♦ HEIGHT: 2 m ♦ WEIGHT: 100 kg
-Voice Sample- -Theme-

Qu3u3, commonly known as Queue (Q, Que), is an independently thinking droid who has taken residence on the strange ice planet of Rhen Var. He was originally a prototype for a potential bodyguard droid, but his cold and logical reasoning led to an unforeseen brutality rate. It was illogical to kill his own maker, however, and left them the only survivor. As he has correctly deduced, the company that manufactured him gave up pursuit... for the time being.

CORE PROGRAMMING

CAPABILITIES

  • Hatim was born with a very strong connection to the Force, having unconsciously started tapping into it after being thrown into the gladiator rings and having to fight for his life. The raw strength that he possessed was refined and moulded into the potent weapon it now is. Most skilled with the use of Telekinesis, he uses his lust for power to fuel the dark side, and the thrill of battle only seems to strengthen that connection. He also loves to use the Force to enhance his physical abilities, pushing his already exemplary abilities to an even higher plain.

  • Having learned how to use blades as a gladiator, it did not take long for Hatim to to master the lightsaber. While his master might have been weak with the Force, he was pretty skilled with the blade and was able to teach Hatim more than a trick or two.
Form II, Makashi: With the Jedi clashing against the Exiles for almost a century, Hatim's master was well trained in the second form of lightsaber combat, and passed on the same knowledge to him. He is a fairly good swordsman, but even he will admit that he has some ways to go before he can be counted amongst the best.

  • Years of specialized training, along with his natural strength and speed make Hatim's body his greatest weapon. Possessing tremendous speed and strength, even without the Force he is an adversary worth taking notice of.
Hand to Hand Combat: As a gladiator he received extensive training in hand to hand combat, and as a result can hold his own against most opponents.

  • Vin's other skills include:
Intelligence: While no genius, Hatim is by no means a fool. He is sharp and eager to learn. Possessing a quick mind, he is pretty quick on the uptake, though because of how he was trained all his life he is best at learning things by seeing them in practice rather than off a book.
Pilot: He is a pretty good pilot, having learned how to fly while roaming through the outer rim in search of powerful opponents.

  • Red Lightsaber
    Personalized Armor

Forge of Venatus Phoenix

Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

The Forge of Venatus Phoenix, commonly known as The Forge was an ancient forge and training area built alongside the Jedi Temple on Tython by Aliyah Phoenix, in memory of her father. It is a location of solemn contemplation, creation, and training in preparation for combat. While the Forge itself had a blacksmithing area, the name comes from the training ground forging younger Knights into practiced Jedi. Meant to simulate the chaos of the battlefield, the Forge has many hazards that are nonlethal, but extremely painful.

_

Description

The Forge of Venatus Phoenix was a living and training area designed by Aliyah Phoenix in memory of her father. Based off of the mock crucible they had created for sparring practices on Jedha, the location would be designed to test the ones practicing there in every aspect of a Jedi's abilities. From lightsaber combat, to force manipulation and concentration, down to even sensitivity and reaction time training.

images
While from the outside the Al'doleem monastery was meant to draw little attention, the upper level and outer face styled to appear as little more than a small chapel or holy site to any number of faiths, and indeed the top building and first underground room were styled to maintain this impression. Any members of both the Jedi and the public would require either authorisation or invitation to be taken further inside. However, it was inside where it truly opened up.

Along the exterior a small path circled the mountain led to the top of the mountain, the only clearly visible entrance from outside. However, for those who knew for what they searched could find a small hangar at the bottom, a hidden entrance at the mountains rear, a gap in the bottom of the mountain by the roar of Al'doleems rivers. enough to keep a small number of fighters or freighters, Al'doleem was not a place for large numbers of Jedi to be staying or visiting at any one time, though it was well guarded by the temple guard.

The thick stone and soil of the mountain naturally insulated and protected the internal aspects of the monastery.

While the upper levels consisted of an entrance way and small greeting area, the middle offered a pair of training dojos, walls made of heavy metals but styled to appear like a quiet retreat, for instruction and the training and testing of more dangerous or unorthodox techniques both martial and of the force.

Equally, the middle levels offered spaces for respite, being quarters, including that of the Monastery's resident Master, a kitchen, a space for relaxation and socialising, extending over a number of floors. While the monastery facility had no dedicated meeting room for the Jedi Council, the sitting Masters office could double as a more private meeting space, along with a number of reflection chambers and meeting rooms dotted along these floors.

On the lower rungs of the facility were the research and engineering facilities, for the development of such technologies needed by the Order, or experimentation with strange and new aspects of the Force whose effects could not be completely understood yet. This was supplemented by a small but focused library of technological information, as well as more arcane Force chronicles, material studies, and star charts. As such only those Master rank and up were granted access to the library, and even then by the Monastery's standing Master.

Such facilities were built the furthest into the mountain for protection, and so also included the Monastery's safe rooms, and secret exits for members into the valleys below, should the time come.

This lowest rung also included entrance to some of Mount Passvaal's natural caverns, where often the planets many rivers could be seen running through, beautifully shaping its small collection of Kyber crystals that grew beneath. While few in number, the crystals of Al'doleem were exceptionally smooth, and offered just enough that the facility could do research work on them when needed.

The temple itself had few exterior defenses, though a low level energy shield shrouded the facility, its greatest defense was the mountain it was built into. Internally however, alarm and camera systems operated across all levels, as well as combined blaster/stun turrets by the facilities most sensitive areas.

Notable locations

The following list details notable locations within the Al'doleem Jedi Monastery, as well as any relevant security information:

  • Exterior Monastery and Entrance Way: The only part of the facility to face the open air, the uppermost part of the monastery seemed for all intents and purposes like a church to any number of faiths. And the encircling walkway up the mountain made it difficult both for pilgrims and enemies alike to enter the facility. Open to all.
  • Upper Training Dojos: As soon as one passes into the facility proper, only Jedi with authorisation or others with invitation are allowed inside. The metal lined training dojos on the upper floors are for the practice and training of more unorthodox martial styles and skills.
  • Research Facilities: On the lower levels of the Monastery facility were the spaces dedicated to more advanced and often time new and unique research into both technology and the force. Again, reinforced training spaces and testing facilities lay here, and are on heavy rotation by the temple guard. Only those with Master level clearance, or express authorisation of the standing Master are allowed here.
  • Archives: A small but specialised research archive into technology and the force, it housed many sensitive materials and texts to which only those of Master access or express authorisation of the standing Master were allowed to enter.
  • Hangar: At the very lower rear of Mount Passvaal, was the secret entrance to a small hangar that covered most of the lower region of the mountain. by the flowing rivers it was difficult to discern from outside, and generally only used by those who knew it was there. However, even then it was open only to members of the Jedi Order.
  • Natural Caverns and Escape Tunnels: The mountain itself had many smaller caverns and tunnels that had been repurposed by the Jedi as escape tunnels into the lowe valleys should the need arise. Alongside these were the minimal but beautiful Kyber caverns who produced the most smooth and sparkling crystals regularly found, shaped and polished by the rushing rivers of Al'doleem. Master clearance allowed regular access to these caves, while Knights could access the Kyber caverns when seeking to construct a new blade.
Note: It should be assumed that all of the locations listed above are guarded and patrolled by Jedi Temple Guards in addition to the security clearance required to enter them.

Intent

To provide a write-up for the temple listed at the start of the timeline, expanding on it in more detail.

Sorry, in advance, for the huge block of text.
She wheeled on her feet, her head turning towards the location of Master Guleya. As his tone seemed to become sterner, her stance became more solid, her shoulders rolling back slightly. Her eyes thinned. It was still strange being called by that name, even if it was hers now.

"...yet peace.
...yet knowledge.
...yet serenity.
...yet harmony.
...yet the Force."

The Jedi code. Or at least, the simplified version of it, used by Padawans and Younglings who hadn't memorized the full verses yet. Everyone in the room knew it, it was a mantra they lived and breathed every day. But somehow, her thoughts completed the little recitation with a booming and deepened voice in her mind. This was a walk down memory lane for her.

Remember these words, Aliyah, when in hope you doubt.

Her eyes widened slightly, but she otherwise stayed silent as the Master continued to ask his questions. She didn't entirely appreciate the tone, it wasn't necessary, she understood exactly how serious this was. But it was their council, they could do as they saw fit and it wasn't really her place to scrutinize them. He wanted her to explain the Jedi Code to him, in her own words? Or did he just want her to explain the first half? She was slightly confused, but decided to go with an explanation of the Code itself, that made a lot more sense in her mind. Aliyah had always found the words explained themselves pretty well, so putting them out there in her own way would be easy enough.

You have every right to be angry. But believe me when I say you don't want to feed that emotion.

"There is no emotion, there is peace. Emotions are amazing things, and they can bring out the best in people. But they can also bring out the worst. Feeling them isn't wrong, it's completely natural. But keeping them bottled up, ignoring them, letting them get the better of you... it destroys you as a person. But if you take a moment, think about then, understand them and why you have them... well, you can come to terms with them, and carry on."

Do not boast of your skills, for there is always one more who's proven they're better than you.

"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. This is simple, so I'll keep it short, we're not all knowing and we shouldn't start believing we are. Some are better at certain things, some aren't, but everyone has something to teach and we need to be willing to learn."

I believed that my love for our people was shared. But I was deceived, she cared for none but her own life.

"There is no passion, there is serenity. On the same note as emotion, really, passion can be a natural thing. Same as emotions, though, it can easily turn into a messy situation and cause you to do things you normally wouldn't do. Distancing yourself from the moment and looking at the passion objectively, you can usually avoid that."

If there can be no diplomatic solution to this perpetual conflict, then I must not allow more darkness to fall.

"There is no chaos, there is harmony. Stuff goes wrong, people make stupid mistakes, sometimes at a very high price. But, again, that's completely normal. Everything happens for a reason, or it wouldn't have happened at all."

The balance is already teetering on the edge of a knife's blade.

"There is no death... there is the Force. In the end, we're all one, together and connected. When we die, it isn't any different. We become one with the Force, and in a way, we never truly stop living."

...that is a burden I am willing to bear. You must both ask yourselves - are you?

She stopped. Her gaze shot back up from the ground and directly into the eyes of the one speaking to her. What would change if she became a Master? He was trying to downplay the rank for some reason, but she had a pretty good idea as to why. Hearing anything even slightly flippant come out of a Jedi Master's mouth made her slightly uneasy. Still, she answered.

"Nothing. Nothing would change. I'm going to go through and do what I need to do, and help our Order as best as I can. I'm not here for a rank or title, because that isn't what this is about. I'm here because there are responsibilities to fill, people to teach and lives to save, if you don't think I'm capable of that? Well, that's your choice and I'll respect it. But I won't change what I do for the Order based on this decision."
