Bellona's Training

[Dexington]

*Darka was in the training grounds on the Mandalorian home base, about to take on his first recruit for training. He was disappointed that it was going to be a female as he thought firmly that females should not be fighting with the clans, rather making fighters for the clans. But, Darman had given his orders and loyal as always, Darka would follow them.

He waited for the recruit.*

 

[Captain Kara]

ooc: Geez don't even tell me.

Bellona ran to the training ground in full armor. She knew that she had to be early to make an impression. She had heard that General Darka was a real hard-ass and that he didn't think female should be trained, just there to make babies. Bellona would show him, just like she showed those idiots at the academy. She would prove that she could be just as good as any rest of the Mandalorians.

When she came upon Darka she saluted and said, "Recruit Bellona Fett reporting for duty sir."

 

[Dexington]

*Darka watched her as she approached and when she neared he eyed her from top to bottom. Not only was she a woman, she didn't look as though she would be capable of fighting in a war. He hoped he was dead wrong, and she turned out to be more than he could handle, but he doubted it. If she wasn't, he would make her.*

"Welcome to the roughest place you will ever be. Before we begin I am going to tell you that if you ever do anything wrong, answer anything wrong or disappoint me in any way, you will be doing three laps of the entire encampment and a training duel with me. That understood?"

 

[Captain Kara]

Bellona smiled, he was a hard-ass, "Understood Sir."

She stood perfectly still waiting for Darka's orders. She wouldn't screw this up, her father would roll in her grave if she did. Then her mother would tell her that she should just be a mother like herself and stop trying to be a warrior. She couldn't do that, that wasn't who she is.

 

[Dexington]

"Good. Follow me."

*Darka turned around and walked to a bare patch in the grassy area, one that Bellona should be able to recognize as the battle circle. This was her first opportunity to show that she at least knew something about their people.*

"Where are we right now?"

 

[Captain Kara]

She followed Darka into the bare patch. She smiled this was one of her favorite places, the battle circle.

She turned to her instructor, "Sir this a battle circle. Where we Mandalorians can hone our combat skills, duel, and prove our honor. The most honorable combatant in the circle permits what weapons are to be used. To challenge a champion or former champion, one must have a recommendation from a current or former champion. In a sense Sir this is where Mandalorians are born."

 

[Dexington]

*Darka thought for a second. She could be half right, but she was also half wrong, which could only mean one thing...*

"No... Mandalorians are born from women, like every other species. In a sense, you are right, but in another you are not. In which case, do a lap and come back here."

 

[Captain Kara]

She knew he was right so she didn't argue. She did that lap around the compound as fast as she could and came back not even close to being out of breath, "Sorry for screwing up Sir. I will do my best to answer your questions correctly like every true Mandalorain would."

 

[Dexington]

*Damn right. Darka thought as she ran back. The one lap might not have been tough, but after she had done lap after lap after lap, with fights added onto the end, she would surely be as hardened as any other man in the ranks. But like he had promised before, she had one more thing to accomplish now for answering wrong. He drew one of his two Mandalorian swords.*

"You know the second part."

 

[Captain Kara]

Bellona nodded and unsheathed her sword, "Yes I believe I do.", She went into the fighting stance her father taught and waited for Darka to strike. She studied his form, he had good form. She smiled at Darka and said, "I place the first move to you."

 

[Dexington]

"Very honourable."

*Darka nodded his head and held his sword with both hands. Normally, a person would let the lady go first, but such things would not help in the Mandalorian culture. If Bellona wanted to be treated as a Mandalorian, this would be a way of the trade.

He figured he would start slowly for her and approached, showing his attack clearly before doing it, raising his blade above his head and attacking downwards towards her shoulder.*

 

[Dexington]

Bell brought her blade up to block Darka's attack then pushed hard back against him to push him back, "How can I learn if you go so easy on me?" She said with a bit of malice in her voice.

She then jumped back then took her father's favorite stance, her body sideways and her blade becoming a natural extension of her arm. She rushed bringing the blade down then moving it diagonally down toward Darka's collar.

 

[Dexington]

"Good point..."

*Darka was prepared, though not showing it which added more to his cocky attitude towards this girl. The diagonal attack coming towards him was not a challenging strike, so he figured that she was mearly trying the same thing that he had just done. Regardless, he raised his own blade to knock away the attack and proceeded to feign an attack between her right arm and body, then brought back his sword to attack at her opposite shoulder.*
