Darkness covered the snowy moutainous landscape. Lights from fortified positioned lit the rocky landscape in the distance as snow flurries blew across the expanse. The night sky was filled with stars and was peaceful. Four Sith had trekked in secret, avoiding patrols and arriving before the fortress settlement. "That's the Citadel, though the Deucalians call it Felljsgardr. They probably have their guard up." But that would not change their fate if Serene had anything to say about it.

Serene had returned to the isolated pass in the mountains of Belsavis. The Sith had landed and traveled across the wilderness not alone and not for the first time. Unlike last time she had come with an acolyte instead of a champion. But this time she hoped to have better luck than last time. Her company had changed and also her objective. Before, the sorceress had intended on using the tribe of fortified Deucalians as a puppet group. Now she would use them as an example and eradicate them.

After Serene had already visited the fortified with Trael Osso, they had limited success. "Their leader is a chieftain trained in the Force." The woman was armored and her featured hidden by her helmet and other cold weather grab. "They also have many capable warriors. But we will make an example of them. Are you ready?" She looked the acolyte up and down, sizing her up since this was their first mission together. Serene believed in good first impressions being a lasting one.

The woman was gaining favor with Karys to help secure Belsavis but a certain message needed to be sent. Two more acolyes, sorceress in training followed Serene and joined @Ahriman on this strike. Only four of them would be needed. This mission had a secondary purpose for the Champion. She needed to adapt and learn to teach multiple people. Keeping multiple plates spinning was something she would need to do while still being able to accomplish her normal objectives. She wondered how many acolytes or champions would live up to her standard and be able to join her to-be established Coven.

Defenses of the Deucalians, level of alertness
high = good for writers
low = bad for writers

Ahriman dug her long gloved fingers into the thick fabric of her coat and pulled it tighter across her chest, hoping to save another small bit of warmth from escaping through the seams. She had on several layers, plus a fur-lined hood that kept her sensitive ears safe from the cruel bite of the icy air. Though the cold was uncomfortable, its stillness was beautiful, and it was wonderfully quiet. Until Serene spoke, ironically interrupting the serenity of their environment to brief Ahriman and the two other acolytes about the mission ahead of them.

"The Deucalians." She'd heard that word before, but she had little idea of who said people were. From what she'd gathered, they were some sort of warrior people who had a particular affinity for space. She wasn't sure why their base was here, or what they stood to gain from this, but she didn't really care. As long as she made it out alive and preferably without the champion's ire, it would be a win in her book. Daeva, on the other hand, was practically electric with anticipation beside her.

« This is your chance, » he snarled, his canines exposed in an eternal grin. His black eyes darted to his left — Ahriman's left — where the other two acolytes walked beside them. « They are but a means to an end. »

Her eyes followed his, her stare hardening as she side-eyed the others walking behind Serene. They were more experienced than her, but Daeva was right. If she didn't take advantage of them, they would take advantage of her. If the opportunity arose, she should be quick to grab ahold of it.

One of the other acolytes glanced toward her and she quickly looked away, the determined twitching of her ears hidden under her hood.

When Serene glanced back, Ahriman gave her a clear nod. Though the half-Sephi was without a lightsaber, she had come prepared with a blaster, a vibroknife, and a small leather pouch tucked into her pocket that contained a beige powder made from a particular type of poisonous mushroom. She didn't expect to use it at all, but in case the opportunity arose, she'd be curious to see if it worked.

Each of the women present were not to be underestimated. The names of the other two acolytes were Isolde Veil and Elandra Nyx and had their own specialties. Each of them had some overlap in skill but they were loyal to Serene and the sisterhood of the Coven of Shadows. Isolde noticed Ahriman look over her shoulder, thinking she was looking for possible scouts rather than a spirit. Meanwhile Elandra's gaze seemed to move from place to place. Her unique interest in the dead gave her some affinity for spirits but the novice necromancer was far from aware of Daeva. The acolytes knew they needed to focus primarily on the task at hand rather than idle curiosities. There would be time to socialize or investigate personal interests when this was over.

Only Serene had come equipped with a lightsaber, or rather she came with several. The witches under Serene's mentorship had a few small personal items but all of them were hidden within secret compartments of their robes. The Dark Side was their tool and they needed to hone these skills as well as the invaluable talent of improvisation. If the cutting power of a lightsaber was needed then she had it at her fingertips.

"We move." She stated and turned forward to lead the way. As she strode across the snowy landscape the dark shadows lengthened. The intensity of the black surrounded the group and effecting the area around the group of Sith as they drew near the fortress settlement. Each of the witches were skilled in shadow manipulation and in their current situation it took very little energy to maintain with each of them contributing.

None of the Deucalian perimeter guards noticed them as they approached the front door. Arrow slights overlooking the front door were backlit by torches, sconces and braziers meant to heat the interior and also give some modicum of illumination. Shadows passing in front of the opening told Serene there were guards at the ready but none of them fired or sounded the alarm.

The door to the fortress was large and took a powerful mechanism to open. Furthermore a portcullis sat on the other side being a secondary physical barrier. "Allow me" Isolde whispered and began to focus her attention on a guard beyond one of the arrow slits. A moment later it would appear her power of suggestion had an affect. The guard inside opened the door of the fortress and raised the portcolus. In the next moment, darkness was welcomed into Felljsgardr.

Inside the fortress was already a layer of smoke from fires being burned. The steady clinking of primitive though large gears echoed throughout the interior. Both of these aspects would aid the Sith in moving forward but also make it difficult to hear or see enemies. Visibility was reduced by fifty percent but there were likely guards around any corner.
