GENERIS

Nathan tried the wine. It was his choice anyway and bad form, but he would have Stamper replace the bottle before she got here.

He was somewhat nervous, though he worked consciously to bury any outward sign of it. He had sailed through his early years of politics with few true challenges, but the more he advanced the more he was finding himself opposite people of real caliber. Today, he was taking it up another rung on the ladder.

Anat Asteria was a big fish, the highly capable if mysterious figure behind Asteria Industries. Unlike many of Nathan's Senate colleagues, she had neither land or soldiers to lend to his efforts, but she certainly had money and power. She also had a shit tonne of history with certain movers and shakers he wanted to give a wide berth, but you could never have it all. Her skills were clear and if they could find common cause, he would have the chance to show her the plus points of backing the new over the old.

The Senator had a plan of course and Generis would be the arena. The local authorities had been let down by hollow overtures from the Jedi and the planet's proximity to his native Begamor made some form of union attractive. But the Generisians would need persuading, and a joint venture with Asteria might be just be the answer. He had invited her here, amidst the planet's southern jungle, to wine and dine her right where they could make their mark.

He lent back in his chair, adjusting his stylish black attire and breathing in the fresh air. He really did pick nice spots.

Today, she was back to being Anat Asteria; she was lucky in her line of work that her research took her out of her labs and into the far stretches of the galaxy. However, from time to time, she had to put on her best face and talk to potential shareholders about their interests and investments. That's how it would be today with a young up-start senator, Nathan Braxon. She was never took keen on these meetings, and usually sent another representative from Asteria Industries to handle it, but the request came by name only, and she felt it would be foolish not to get to know what direction this senator wished to guide his constitutes of Begamor.

They were meeting somewhere a bit more...unconventional. She couldn't recall the last she had a meeting that didn't involve sterile labs or the pristine marble tables of meeting rooms. She was relieved it was an evening that didn't seem too humid or too chilled, and the ground was firm enough that her black heels didn't sink into the soil. She wore a modest dress that was both stylish as it was functional, leaving her comfortable despite some nerves of anticipation for meeting this senator.

"Senator Braxon, its a pleasure to meet you in person." she said holding out her hand to gently give his own a squeeze before sitting down at the table. "I'd imagine with all the riff-raff happening across the galaxy, sitting down like this is hard to come by at times." the redheaded woman looked around at the trees and florals that surrounded them, making some small talk before diving into business.

Miss Asteria lived up to expectations. Aside from turning up on time, she had wrapped her shapely figure in a smart green dress that fitted perfectly with their surroundings. Her red hair and blue eyes were striking and gave her a unique air well-suited to a pioneer in her field. Nathan shook her hand firmly, hoping he was developing the same reputation himself.

and you, a pleasure” he concurred, nestling back into his seat “you are right there. I make a point of trying to get out and about but that normally translates into taking calls on the office balcony rather than at my desk”. He smiled, glancing around the jungle peak “lunch on the mountain side was a particularly lucky brainwave I think”. He was far more calculating than that of course, but she was grown up enough to know that.

Would you like a glass?“ he asked, lifting the wine bottle so she could inspect it. “I assure you it‘s good stuff. The only risk of drinking with me is usually turning up in the tabloids, but I don’t think they have any sparrows doing freelance for them just yet”.

Nathan certainly hoped they were far enough away from prying eyes for this meeting to go unnnoticed. He hated his plans being leaked in advance and the tabloids were also very fond of their perpetual search for his romantic interests.
