Ask [Berchest] Adverse Partnerships

Julian peered into the treeline from his remote hilltop through a pair of binoculars, looking for even the slightest trace of movement. The nearby villagers had assured him that the alleged Syndicate thugs were based around this area, but that was just under a week ago and he still hadn't spotted any activity. Reports had reached the capital that a group of lowly Syndicate members had landed and begun to raid a small village with minimal resistance. Eager to prove himself and elevate his position, Julian had volunteered to complete the task...alone.

How hard can it be to find some two-bit thugs in my own backyard? Quite difficult apparently...

The area was a rather remote island in the south of Berchest, the nearby settlement being the only form of known civilisation in the vicinity. It was the middle of the night and Julian was surrounded by a sprawl of trees and bushes, providing him with plenty of cover. He wasn't any good with a blaster, but that's why we had his trusty lightsaber if he needed, and he had a feeling he would have to use it before this task was completed. However, he wouldn't be able to use anything if he couldn't spot the damned cowards.

Suddenly, he felt it... A disturbance in the force. It was very faint and he felt no need to panic, but it was enough to halt him in his tracks. It appeared this little mission was about to get interesting. A small smile crept onto his face, he couldn't explain why but Julian knew he was going to enjoy himself.

Imani had been sent here to speak to someone in the local village, which she had mixed feelings about. She was usually the one on the mic, talking in ears and giving instructions. Though she had no qualms about doing the work herself, her horns had a tendency to evoke a bit of bigotry in certain communities.

But, alas, she was here. Imani's ship touched down in the dark around midnight, not too far off from the village she would be making her way to. The Tiefling gathered her belongings she would take with her: her Wan-Shen, among other things. Since she didn't use a lightsaber, the weapon was left in it's dusty spot on the shelf inside.

"Wow, the sky here is pretty." The village might've been pretty secluded, but it meant that light pollution hadn't muddled it's star spangled skies. It reminded her of her family's farm back on Bandomeer, and her heart ached a little at the sight. "Well, no matter."

The woman locked up her ship and set off in the direction of the village.

A couple of hours had passed and still nothing. Julian would've been beyond frustrated, had that nagging feeling in his stomach not been present. He decided it was time to head back to the village for the night and try again tomorrow. He packed his equipment up and hopped back on the speeder the villagers had lent him.

Around halfway back on his journey, Julian noticed something that made his stomach drop, smoke... and it was rising from the village he was heading towards. Julian began to panic slightly, before composing himself and pushing forward at full speed.

As he neared the village, he passed a ship he had not seen in the area before. Nothing was making sense, but that was all the more reason for him to get there as soon as he possibly could.

He almost missed it, the figure in the night walking in the direction of the village. Slowing down and stopping shortly before impact, he called out to this unknown person.

"Hold it, who are you?"

He attempted to stay calm with the village aflame in the backdrop, however, had his hand just slightly off his lightsaber hilt.
