Herrith looked to her two comrades. A couple buddies from back in the day that were open to favors. They were dressed in what you'd expect a criminal to wear, all black and with face masks to match in order to keep their identities secret. This plan was going to require the utmost precision. There was a formal banquet that was going down soon. She needed in, could get some fairly valuable stuff from the location. Only problem was...there was a guest list. And the Zeltron certainly wasn't anyone important. So she had to improvise. She'd gotten ahold of the guest list, thanks to her sister Sya, and had found a suitable person to get her in. There was almost nothing about him, so he was probably a lowly guy with connections. The plan? Her buddies were gonna mug him, or try to, and the great heroine was going to whoop them before they got the chance. Of course, she'd try to go easy. But to be convincing required a good show. They'd both agreed to some bruises and scrapes.

She'd just have to make do. Noddng to them as they lowered their masks, Herrith glanced out of the alley and walked out, observing the streets like anyone else and stopping to stare at a few stores. The target was fifty meters down the road. Once he passed, ten meters down the 'muggers' would do their thing, and she'd put a stop to it. Simple enough. Hopefully in execution, too.

mentally checked off the last few things that he had been working on in the past few hours. The day itself had long given up and had taken into darkness momentarily before the vibrant nightlife of the city sprung up. Although seedier, Xornoth found the darker back alleyways quieter and significantly less traveled which would allow him to slip around the city unnoticed.

He would only need to stay a few more days he pondered to himself before his next proper mission but in the meantime, he was acting as an acquaintance to a rather wealthy Hutt named Kraggiosk Otho. The Hutt had been involved supporting the war effort albeit outside the Cartel as a low hanging fruit compared to the bigger players in the Hutt Cartel but none the less
Xornath was keen on utilizing this contact for other reasons.

Kraggiosk Otho was to put on a banquet to celebrate some milestone or achievement he didn't really care for but more importantly giving the Hutt the opportunity to show off amongst both friends and business rivals. Security would be tight with a selective guest list however with most parties it was more important who you knew rather than what you were.

Apparently, the Sith's current clothing wasn't how would you say, up to the dress code for the opulence that would be on display, thus his Hutt "friend" had sent him out for the day to find more appropriate clothing. At his side, he lugged two sizable shopping bags of expensive designer ware that he little cared for but admittedly appreciate the attendee's exclamations and commentary about how he looked, not fully realizing that it was literally her job to do so.

When suddenly, in front of him appeared a number of thieves in the night. Silently cursing that he had left his blaster behind in his room that morning, his thoughts drifted to his lightsaber tucked inside his cloak. He would be hesitant to use it as the attention that it may bring would be unwelcomed, instead, he stood still eyeing up the few in front of him and spoke.

"Friends, move aside, I do not wish you harm this night."

Herrith turned her eyes as the two 'criminals' approached the man, one with a knife in his sleeve that certainly wasn't intended to be used. She kept watch on them, and waited while they conducted their bit of acting, pretty much doing anything a normal group looking to mug someone would do.

"Drop the bags, Mask. Hurry before you regret it."

She turned on her heel, waiting to see what to do next. One of them revealed a knife. The Zeltron decided to approach now, walking up and putting on a look of confusion, a normal expression among her species that were out here in the Rim, completely unaware of what to do. The guy turned and extended his knife her direction, forcefully telling her to stop and dump her wallet as well. He took a step forward, creating an opening while the other watched their original target. He nodded ever so subtly, and she grabbed his wrist, stripping the knife from his hands while also tripping him and sending him to the ground. The second one yelled something her direction, and she delivered a kick to his side before sending a solid blow to his face, wincing slightly. That was probably a broken nose. Sorry...Drinks on me, guys.

The two stood up, the one she'd grabbed the knife from picking up his bloody nosed partner, and then ran off into the night. To the average person, they would have just looked like amateur criminals with no idea what they were doing. She turned to face the alien with the bags full of fairly expensive stuff, likely, and spoke in a clipped accent akin to that of Coruscanti, but not quite.
"You alright? Couple amateur muggers, nothing too crazy. Bloody idiots."

She locked eyes with the being, or tried to, and continued.
"So what exactly is in those bags?"

Xornoth initially stood silently as the scene unfolded in front of him as the two would be muggers were solidly thrashed by the very strange lady that now stood before him. With both foes now gone his sense of danger began to melt away and was replaced with a feeling of calmness as the situation de-escalated quickly.

He nodded to her when she asked if he was okay and thanked her for the assistance. No doubt he would have been fine to handle them himself but that would have required him to drop the bags of clothing that had been purchased on his behalf. They both stared momentarily as he started to speak.

"The bags? ..oh these bags. Yes well. I should probably go." he attempted to leave but she would not budge. He did not want to hurt her but at the same time he wasn't able to fully put his finger down on anything about her, she seemed un-readable to him which struck the Kaleesh as odd. "If you must really know, I have been invited to some fancy function of some kind. It seems that despite everything, my appearance was not considered, ugh how you say? appropriate and that's that." He lingered on the sentence for a moment trying to gauge her reaction as what he said next felt awkward thinking about let alone saying out loud. "I'm not really certain what I should choose, would you...mind assisting?"

Herrith looked at the two bags and put a hand out to stop him. He didn't answer her question. How rude... She waited for him to answer, and then listened as he explained exactly what she had hoped he would. So he needed fashion advice...to be honest the Zeltron was a bit rusty, but she could lend a hand. It just depended on what exactly he had. She shrugged, pointing to the bags with a finger before speaking.

"Well, show me what's in there and I might be able to help. What kind of event is it?"

It was obviously formal, but exactly what kind was a bit clouded in the information he knew. Plus, if she was getting in, she had to act pretty dumb in the first place. It just happened to work like that. The brief awkwardness was, well, awkward, but good on the guy's part for actually taking initiative and helping her out. Good. Made her job a hell of a lot easier.

Xornoth quietly sighed with relief without trying to draw much attention to it. His training with the Sith had been focused on the force and the struggle with the Jedi but absolutely did not cover wining and dining with the highlife or rather they pretended to do. He fumbled with the bags to reveal two options that he had selected, one being a white on the white tuxedo with black bow tie or a more simple white and black suit without a tie. He explained that he had tried them on at the store to make sure they both fit but neither really fit with his mask, with which he almost never went without.

"It's some kind of fundraiser for a business venture, but Kraggiosk demanded that I not arrive dressed like a hobo, his own words." He let slip the name of the Hutt he was working with by mistake. He looked to her to see if she recognized the name which would land him into trouble if she did. If the Hutt found out that he had been speaking so freely he might find himself kicked to the curb early.

"Excuse my manners, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Xornoth Sk'ar but you can call me Xor."

An intriguing idea crossed his mind which he almost dismissed out of the sheer audacity of asking a friend, let alone someone he had just met. Still, he had done stranger things to complete a mission so why couldn't this work? After all, he needed a distraction.

It was getting late and he made it clear in the erratic movements that he had to leave soon. After collecting the garments back into their bags he would thank her and make her an offer, handing her a small datapad.

"I must admit that I am a stranger in these parts which as you can imagine could be dangerous. I am not one to...socialise at an event like this and I expect perhaps that I was invited to be a spectacle rather than anything else." his voice disappeared from his throat in a sombre tone. "But if we came together..." he paused to gather his words.

"Perhaps you could help me navigate the social cues where I lack them."

The datapad contained details on the fundraiser such as the list of attendees, location, and other such requirements. More importantly, the stipend that Xornoth had been given was not fully used up and would permit her to buy something to wear herself if she agreed to accompany him.

Herrith looked at the two options as he described the host of this event. Her breath almost caught, but she acted nothing of it. Kraggiosk the Hutt. A kriffing slimeball. She didn't show any change on her face, but now she wanted to snatch something from this guy even more. Beautiful. Anyways..back on task. Either white, which was an attention grabber, and certainly didn't fit this 'Xornoth' guy's style, or black. That fit a lot better for whatever reason. She looked between the two and spoke as the being began to pack up. The least she could do was help...but the Zeltron definitely needed to get a bit deeper before she had a guaranteed entry.

"I'd go with black. For some odd reason, it suits you a bit better in my opinion. Name's Herrith. People call me...Herrith."

This little thing must have worked, because Xornoth gave her a datapad detailing the events of the party and offered to have her as a guide. Well there was her chance. Here she was. Dug in now. The Zeltron looked up, put on a convincing smile, and replied.
"Well, sure I will. You almost got mugged back there, stranger, and you certainly seem like one to get lost in social interaction..no offense. I...might have some decent clothes lying around.."

Herrith glanced to the ground and back at the being. Chances were if he were rich enough to buy the brands he had in his hands, he was rich enough to afford some better stuff than she had. To be fair, the woman had quite a wardrobe on her ship, however something new and in style would ring better with the Hutt. And she needed to blend in, too. Especially if she was planning on yoinking something valuable. The Zeltron passed the datapad back and looked at their surroundings, waiting for a reply.

"Yeah, I suppose you're right. The black one it is then, I guess I won't be needing this then." taking the white tuxedo and throwing it to one side Xornoth smiled.

"It is settled then, Herrith. My lodging is at the Hiltone hotel not far from the fundraiser will be held, you're welcome to join me there as the room is certainly big enough." He said matter of factly without pause and continued. "Either way tomorrow we shall find you something suitable for the evening and then by nightfall we will enter the vipers' den, so to speak."

Tomorrow would be a test for both of them, they would play the part to their strengths and mingle within the crowd until the time was right. At some point during the night, Xornoth would attempt to steal a copy of the Hutt's datapad either by replacing it directly or copying the files over to his own. The risk to both himself and his unwilling accomplice would hopefully be minimal but the Hutt's were never as simple as that and he knew it.

If they were caught it would be quick thinking that would save them, but given his reluctance to clue Herrith in, she would be possibly caught off guard assuming she didn't figure it out before then.

Herrith contemplated the being's words. Probably overanalyzing it a little bit. Was he trying to pull something, or just being courteous? This one certainly didn't seem interested, so she went for the latter, more logical reason. The Zeltron nodded to both his statement about rooming and to get her appropriate attire. Neither of them knew their real intentions. Both were, more or less, using each other to their own goals. Almost ironic. It'd make a unique story. If they ever found out about each other, that is. Putting s smile on her face and a shrug, Herrith nodded with gratitude.

"I'd gladly take a room if it's available. Desperate ol' me, huh? Thanks for the offer."

Whatever happened next, this was definitely one of her more..interesting exploits. Interesting if she knew what was going on behind the scenes. Which she definitely didn't.

OOC - Sorry for short post. I'm tired.

True to his word the hotel suite that they arrived at late that night was amongst the best that Xornoth could imagine. It certainly wasn't a common occurrence for him to be enjoying such luxury at someone's expense but he wouldn't complain about that. A short hallway led them both into a large guilded room that seemed to offer something unique to the wary traveler no matter which way you might look.

It wouldn't be a Hiltone hotel without a minibar now, would it? the sign next to the minibar stated.
Xornoth casually walked over towards it and began to make his favorite mix before offering one to Herrith. Corellian rum was his pick of poison but the bar would likely have something she would enjoy either way. Pointing directions as he spoke he laid out the hotel for her.

"The master suite is over that end of the room behind the wooden doors, don't worry about making a mess, the hotel staff will be in here in the morning. Over there is the entertainment if you're not looking to sleep yet, but my personal favorite so far has been this room." Behind two massive teak doors was a set of marble stairs that took them both up to another level to yet another massive room. The main attraction was an indoor heated swimming pool complex that was inset into the floor they were walking on and looking down, you could see the floor below through the pool itself. Impressive enough it also came complete with spa and sauna if the pool wasn't all you were after.

The suite was, of course, the penthouse which seemed overly extravagant for even a Sith Knight which was true.
Kraggiosk didn't exactly know who was coming and Xornoth may have slightly over exaggerated his importance to the wealthy Hutt. At least, for now, he was operating on borrowed time but that was something he wouldn't worry about until tomorrow.

Give him a problem to solve or a fight to pick and you could reliably say that the young Kaleesh could handle it. But the art of romance? the ball was in her court in that regard for
Xornoth, it was like teaching a Hutt about honesty.

Herrith glanced at the various extraneous additions to the hotel, which clearly favored luxury over cost. As they wandered over the pool, the Zeltron looked at the water. She hadn't been to a place like this, much less one with a pool, in years. Being on a tenperate world had taught you to swim fairly well, and being rich got you lessons that kind of helped but didn't really. The urge to jump in was strong, and she just might. Coming into the penthouse, it was clear that either Xornoth was very wealthy or was trying to pose as such. Earlier at the bar, she had accepted a flask of whiskey and tucked that into her jacket. Once they arrived at his ridiculously decorated penthouse, she looked back through the doors and hesitated, suddenly paranoid about the brands on her arm. If they were meeting a Hutt, Xornoth could recognize the marks, and that wouldn't be ideal. But then again...he lacked a lot of street knowledge, if she was being honest.

She turned to him, whatever he was doing.
"I'm going down to the water. I know I sound like a kid, but it's been a while since I've actually gotten to do something..quite like this, I guess."

Plus, she had an excuse: it looked good to be taking advantage of luxury and looked less like she was trying to trick the guy. So, once she'd found her way down there, she'd dumped her jacket and outer layer of clothing, finding herself doing laps in the water, back and forth. It'd taken her a bit to really get used to water again, as most of the Outer Rim planets that were full of crime really didn't have healthy water to swim in.

Around 45 minutes later, Herrith had taken herself (rather reluctantly) out of the body of water and found a spare bed to pass out on. Her jacket hung off a side, and her boots had been stowed underneath. No sense dirtying up this place. To be honest, the cleaners likely had it tough enough as is.

Hopefully her temporary ally didn't notice the knife in her boot or the various weapons within her jacket.

Or the brands on her neck and shoulders.

Xornoth was especially thrilled that she had accepted his offer but politely excused himself to spend most of the time she was swimming upstairs thinking about their next day's engagement. He settled on being honest as it would be infinitely easier to stretch the truth and try to play it off than to lie and be caught out doing so. Most of the day would be spare time until the evening where both himself and his guest would arrive together and get in easy enough with the access he was given.

His exit strategy was simple enough, once he had the information that he was after, it would simply be making up an excuse to get outside and then sneak off-world in a shuttle. Some time had passed by now and he could no longer hear the playful splashing coming from
Herrith. Looking up into the glass roof he noticed that the pool was empty and she was clearly not in the same room as he was. Correctly deducing that she had, in fact, snuck off to bed, he walked around until he found one of the spare bedroom doors ajar and peaked in to make sure she was okay.

In the dim room, he caught a glimpse of her lying down peacefully asleep. Frozen still he noticed the strange markings for the first time that ran along her skin but in the low level of light he couldn't make out anything of it. Not wanting to risk waking her, he pulled back and quietly shut the door.

His mysterious guest, he would hold his tongue for now rather than risk asking her what they were. Was he obliged to tell her the danger he was about to put her in? would it make it better or worse if she knew he was now a Sith?

Xornoth fell asleep in the gigantic luxurious master bed thinking about his day and the stranger that he had met. He thought about how crazy his life had become, twenty years previously his family would struggle to put food on the table for the children and now look at him now. If this is what life in the Sith Empire would be like, then he wanted in.

Now, peacefully was a fairly inaccurate way of describing her sleep. Right now, she was in the middle of fending off a Nexu, fangs outstretched. It was taking all her strength to hold it back. Then her arms gave out and the jaws clamped shut, transitioning to something else. The sound of something meeting with a hot object. The heat on the base of the back of her neck. And the pain. And kriff, ths smell-she gasped. In a dark room now. Couldn't see anything. Herrith was strapped to a chair. There were footsteps approaching. Something. Danger. She tried to fight out of the restraints, but it was no use. The figure came out of the shadows and then-

Let go. This all isn't real. Your brain's farking with you again. Dreaming, as they call it. Apparently there's such things as good dreams. More like terrorizing. It's a bit screwed up the stuff you just dealt with. But now that you're just sitting here, floating in a blank space of nothing, it's missing the entertainment. In a way, it's gratifying to experience death in a dream and then realizing it's all fake. Funny how that worked. Only miss something when it's gone.

Herrith woke with a start and exhaled sharply, putting a hand to her forehead. Damn it. Another one of those nights, eh? Good thing she had that whiskey. She sat up, taking a fes swigs from the flask she'd snatched, then put it down, staring at the silent room. It was weird. The city sounds of the cheap apartments she was used to were gone. It was silence. Time to let your mind wander down dark paths. Bad things, sometimes. She muttered to herself in her language and stood up, grabbing her flask and finding a balcony. Bespin at night. Remarkably busy. But so quiet, too. Then she looksd down. It made sense, they were probably almost a hundred stories high. This guy had really gone all out. And tomorrow, she had to, as well. To pull off stealing some credits or valuables from a Hutt. But why? No, she knew why. Ah, hell, she really needed to sleep. Rubbing the back of her neck, Herrith took a final swig of the drink before setting it onto the base of the balcony, turning back inside to hopefully avoid getting chomped by a Nexu.

Funny way things worked sometimes. Especially a disabled brain.

Daylight broke across the city, piercing between the partially closed blinds and stirred Xornoth from his slumber. The day had finally arrived to complete his task, however, there were still some things that needed doing first, principally changing into his expensive new clothes. Before that, however, he would take one last chance to use the pool upstairs to do some exercise and an excuse to shower.

Taking his time to do do the buttons,
Xornoth admired the way it fit him although he wasn't sure it really fit his style of a more simple look. Taking his old discarded clothing and carefully packing them for later he then hid the blaster and lightsaber carefully on within the suit, just in case he needed them later. Typical Hutt security would search entrants but them knowing his affiliation would probably get him a free pass on that one he chuckled.

When Herrith was ready, they would depart for the nearest shopping mall to find her some suitably expensive clothing. It wasn't something
Xornoth expected to be much help with but it was better than lying around the hotel room all day doing nothing.

Herrith had been awake for around an hour, using that time to steal the refresher and dust off her clothes. Once she noticed that her fellow partygoer had risen, she laced up her boots and pulled on her jacket, walking out to wait until it was time to get going. Once they had set off, she hadn't said much. Tonight was the time to steal some very valuable objects from under a Hutt's nose. No easy task, doubled by the fact she was working with someone that would probably be within ten meters at all times. Once they arrived at an adequate shopping center, she had picked out a good-looking but relatively inexpensive crimson dress with shoes to match. It wouldn't stand out with her skin color, and was fashionable enough to work. She also assumed it was in style, seeing as it was in a fashion store.

Now that all that was sorted, there was not much to do but wait. She was not the person to spend ten hours in a mall just to gawk at random apparel that didn't match her style or price range.

The pair certainly looked the part when they arrived at the function later that evening, amongst the other attendees who came dressed their best according to their standing or dreamed social status. Awaiting them at the door were two mercenaries checking the guests for their passes and weapons by way of a quick wave of a wand to detect hidden objects. Xornoth noted that certain guests were not being searched, ones he then assumed were affiliated with the Hutt himself.

When it was their turn to be searched,
Xornoth reached out to hand the guard his datapad. "You will find that I have been personally invited by his Excellency himself, and this is my plus one." nodding to Herrith. The guard looked over the invitation and hesitated as the invitation was addressed to him, but was clearly supposed to be for another more powerful Sith attendee but the guard didn't object. It also didn't mention him bringing a guest but the guard was not interested in picking an argument with a force user, especially one that he thought worked for his boss.

The guard looked at
Herrith and asked: "So who might you be then."

One good white lie later, they would be free to enter the hornet's nest.

So here they were. Evening came, with a huge gap in between morning and night, but now they could finally start the festivities. Or in this case, the thievery. The doorman had seemed questionable about Xornoth having a plus one, and was suspicious about the both of them. Herrith did her best to stay calm, and definitely looked the part. This would be fairly easy. Just a quick little lie about who exactly she was, and they were in.

"Well..I'm his apprentice, of course."

She had no idea he was a Force user. Apprentice in this instance meant someone who was being trained in a particular occupation, but either way it would make plenty of sense. All they had to do was wait for this bored guy to actually reply.

Of course, she went with that one. Outwardly he reflected a cool calm I could kill you with my pinkie vibe but on the inside, his mind raced with what she could mean by that. Did she know? like, know KNOW? or was she just messing with the guard and settling for something inconspicuous. It wouldn't take long for news of their arrival to reach the ears of the host and if they assumed she was a Sith too well then they wouldn't try to hide anything. This greatly complicated their little operation but there was still time to think about contingencies should anything arise on the matter.

The guard looked at
Herrith for a moment or two trying to gauge her but it simply wasn't worth the hassle to him to press any further in case he was wrong. Stepping aside he invited them both into the immaculate dinner hall which they could finally see for the first time in the flesh as opposed to the holographs.

An internal courtyard with a central water fountain that served as a focal point for the grand lobby before developing into a maze of hallways and rooms for business dealings. A good majority of the guests had already arrived and were neatly arranged by pecking order with the wealthier and more likely corrupt congregating around a group of Hutts who were enjoying the company of Twi'lek dancers splashing about in the fountain Aliens of all kinds could be seen standing and chatting away about business, politics and whatever else tickled their fancy.

In the distance was the large dining room that would serve them all when dinner arrived. The spread of small tables ensured they would need to move about to speak with people which was an essential element of the night, much to the dismay of security.

A serving droid offered the pair a glass of some kind of fine alcohol that
Xornoth had never tried before and a fancy bite of food. Thinking to himself he hoped Herrith would know what to do next in this situation.

She could essentially feel Xornoth's discomfort. It was likely just the fact that he'd never been to an event like this and was simply nervous, or maybe Herrith had said something that had caused a bit of dissent. Being an apprentice shouldn't have been...odd, per say. Unless...he knew something about the Force. That was insane. Of course not. She immediately dismissed the though as they entered the ballroom and were offered drinks.

She took a glass, gesturing to the other and smiling at the droid while glancing toward her partner. Herrith had to think ahead a bit. What to do next? She could pull the classic "go to the bathroom" trick and ditch, or play this out a bit. Hopefully the Hutt, who this guy was supposedly a good friend of, wouldn't take notice and try to get her mugged sooner or later. And hopefully nothing went wrong where anyone saw her brands. This was Hutt heaven. They could see what those meant.

While he was certainly an accomplished Sith Knight within the newly formed empire, tales of his exploits had not reached the notoriety where he would be recognized as himself in public. Word of their arrival, however, had indeed quickly made it to the slimy ears of the host Kraggiosk who having caught a glimpse of their entrance, called them over. Attempting to keep calm he looked back to his companion and simply said "Shall we then?" as they were escorted over to the young Hutt.

Kraggiosk had been the victim of an unfortunate corporate take over on Nar Shaddaa which is to say simply that he bet on the wrong horse and lost almost everything. His story was one of overcoming trials and tribulations and of course over hyping his ambition to build an empire outside of the Cartel's reach which had attracted some level of support from the planet of Bespin. In truth, the various groups attending represented their interested parties looking to make a quick buck off the back of the tensions that had been flaring between the main galactic parties. It was common sense after all to diversify your investments.

Xornoth had in fact used one of the Hutt's legitimate logistical companies to move freight connected to the Sith Empire which is how they had originally met. They wouldn't exactly call themselves friends but both saw each other as potentially exploitable assets but neither were in the right position to take advantage of it.

The guests gathered around the Hutt were from all walks of life, possibly even some from within the Republic although they would probably be spies if anyone asked
Kraggiosk's opinion on their loyalties. Kraggiosk hand-waved away the human speaking with him as Xornoth and Herrith appeared in front of him, speaking first. "Welcome to Bespin, Mr.." he spoke in basic and blinked looking at Herrith for a quick moment before returning to the Kaleesh. "Mr. Sk'ar I believe? I see you have brought a colleague." the subtly not escaping the pair, he had to maintain a sense of political neutrality after all and would not be seen meeting openly meeting with either side.

"I hope your accommodation was satisfactory, considering what you're used to." In any other context Xornoth would have taken it as an insult, but for now, he continued to play along and nodded which brought a smile to the obese little Hutt. Kraggiosk took a subtle interest in Herrith as if the way she acted seemed slightly off but couldn't put a finger on it. He dismissed his initial thoughts as the pair of Sith in his mind were just as weird and different as each other and after all, it would be impolite for a host to interrogate one of his guests so soon after they got there.

Kraggiosk gave out a hearty chuckle and rubbed his stomach before waving over a servant to place food in his mouth. His interest for now on the pair had waned and he invited them both to disperse into the crowd to mingle, it seemed that they had passed the first test and could get started on their real goals.
