I can be very shy and have pretty big social anxiety, so I'm finding it hard to put myself out there and join in RPs. Even posting this is quite nerve racking, but I do love this site and I would love to see where my character, Oria, could go. So I want to ask for your advice on getting out there and getting more connected on this site and amazing community.

Hello there!

As a shy person and having social anxiety in real life, that's understandable. The best and easiest way to be more connected to this site and through our Discord. (Link here). That way you can chat and have fun with us, and it's a super useful tool for planning out roleplays and stories, or even asking for help for questions and things

Hi! When I first joined the site I had similar problems getting myself involved with everyone else. What really helped was finding a small group of friendly rpers to rp with initially, which helped me build up my confidence and eventually branch out into other parts of the site.

Try taking a look at some of the smaller, closer knit, factions on the site, like the Free Trade Guild or the Republic (which at this moment is relatively small compared to the other main factions iirc).

Alternatively, you can find an rp partner to go with for the time being. Having a friend to rp with is great, and it's much less of a jump out of the comfort zone. You can put up a "rp partner wanted" post in the rp help forum if you're looking for help there, or if you want, I would love to talk to you about any potential ideas you may have and partner up with you (just message me either on discord or the site @Billbo Swaggins ) ^_^

Cheers! :D

Edit: My hours right now are kinda weird since I'm an ocean away from where I usually live but in a few days that'll be fixed, so if I respond in the middle of the night that'll be why lol

I'm pretty much as new here as you are; from the little experience I've had so far, progress and involvement very much depended on my own activity. I jumped into a couple of threads made by other people, but the most successful ones were the ones I started myself and made "Open" for other people to see and participate in, should they want to.

In a way, it's easier than reaching out to people: you simply come up with an idea for your character, make a thread, leave room for the involvement of others, and they jump in, should they want to. The developments that leads to may be surprising, but those surprises are usually pleasant. So far this approach has yielded me the best results. Discord and the RP Help forum may've helped a lot with that, seeing how I did advertise my threads there (just a little bit though!)

Ultimately though, it's about where you want to take your character. So far it seems that becoming the protagonist of a story is a much easier way to get involved than hopping in on someone else's story. At least that's how it was with my first plot.
