Bionic hand for 'elective amputation' patient

Saw this on newsnight a month or so ago. I was tempted to cut off my own hand there and then.

looks a bit slow in reaction/movement time compared to a human hand (which is to be expected ofcourse since its one of the few in existance) Hopefully as time progresses these can be made to be on par or even above the abilities of a human hand. Ofcourse it does have one advantage. It can rotate. While we are limited to moving our hand based on our arm and palm. I also assume it has more crushing power. Ofcourse lifting power is still limited to arm strength but carrying plastic bags wont be an annoyance

Yeah. I reckon within the next 10 years, artificial hands will be superior to ours.

Probably a bit sooner. I dont know if its affordable though.... I Think the guy in the article just got it offered as a test subject
