Personality:
Jack is one cocky SOB. Used to being hassled and betrayed he is very defensive and rarely gives his trust. Business is business as far as he’s concerned and as long as you pay him he’s got no problem about putting a blaster bolt through anyone. He is the archetypal lone wolf.
History:
Young Jack was born to a poor family in the poor section of Coruscant. As one would expect he grew up fast and mean. Being poor will do that. As a young man he got into several brushes with the law and the final one gave him the option of military service or jail time. He chose the former. In the military Jack’s drive was properly channeled and he excelled. His skill with rifles set him apart from his fellow soldiers and soon he was being trained as a sniper. Things would have gone well had it not been for a corrupt Major who ran Jack’s Special Forces unit. One illegal job too many got the entire unit caught and even though Jack and the other men were unaware of the Major’s activities they were sentenced right along side him to hard labor in one of the toughest military prisons in the Republic. This betrayal and the prison life hardened Jack so when he was released he took his skills into the underworld becoming a sniper for hire. His dislike for force-users and Jedi in particular comes from how he and his unit were captured. A Jedi uncovered the illegal activities and even though he told Jack he sensed no darkness within him, this Jedi still testified at the trial that sent Jack to prison for something he didn’t do. This seeming betrayal only compounded Jack’s dislike of authority of any kind. The Huntsman came to him as pay in lieu of credits from one of his employers. The registry is clean and Jack keeps it that way.
